| Post subject: | A question on releveling (asking a dm to delevel you) |
Hello...Pretty new to Amia. Prolly not seen me on the boards..I just have a question. If I was to ask a DM to delevel me would I be put at the beginning of the level I wish to be deleveled to? Or would I be able to ask a DM to take away a certain amount of XP (within reason of course, asking to take away enough xp to just relevel in 50xp is asking for too much.) An example is I want to be deleveled from 24 to 23. Would I start at the beginning of 23 or could I ask to take away enough xp to set me at say...half of my 23rd level or something. I know, wierd question...Just thought I'd ask it. Thanks. |

If your deleveled from 24 to 23, you have only 1xp to till you are 24. Try not to ask to be deleveled if you're a Shadowdancer, Monk, Or Especially RDD, as this can cause some complications, as rob will state after me. |

If you give us an exact number of experience points to remove, it can be done. Try not to ask to be deleveled if you're a Shadowdancer, Monk, Or Especially RDD, as this can cause some complications |

Now if I could find a DM online to bug, that'd be good |

I always ask the amount of XP to remove instead of the levels. A frightening amount of players is not able to calculate this, btw. |

http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Level_progression http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Epic_progression Those two links should help in calculating the exact xp you want removed. Just one xp less the level you want to retake, so you could go kill a rat and be on your happy way. |

The amount of xp needed to be at level X: (500) * (X) * (X-1) |

Or to go back a level: level * 1000. |

A tip for DMs: Take one level, give one level, take 1 xp. Ta-da, 1 xp from the original level, since the Take/Give Level command sets to you the start of the level in question. |

A frightening amount of players is not able to calculate this, btw. Some time ago I asked in a DM channel "I need a dm_givexp -xxx dropped on my character, please, thanks." The DM, don't remember who, asked me then how many levels to take away. |

I like exact numbers. Means I am not the one messing up if it goes wrong. |

But the funniest delevel I had was like this: only 3 xp to take away. I asked in the DM channel and waited for 15 minutes without answer, then asked again. Then I think Yoss sent me a tell: "Uhm, sure, I can take away 3 xp if you like". Puzzled by the response I looked at my character screen and noticed another DM has taken away those 3 xp before without saying any word and I didn't notice either. |

Oh, a correction to my above tip: you need to take 2 xp, because Give Level sets you at whatever's needed for level +1. |
