what would be the opinion of a female lolthlite drow cleric who favours herself a user of spider oriented magic, IE aracnomancy?
would she be well recieved, hated, or what?
and also can anyone tell me if there are any active characters like this?
thanks, wishing to create a backround for a new drowess im interested in

If you're a Llothite with a spider fetish, you'll be loved by Llothites and hated by everyone else (just like basically every other Llothite ).
If you're a Llothite who harms arachnids for the spells, however, don't expect to be popular. Or breathing.

Part of the dogma of Lloth is 'Any who harm a spider must die'.

But is it not harming them if you sent them out to fight? You do that intensionaly and you let them get wounded for your owns sake, but in Llothite sosiety it should be and is other way round. YOu are the meatshield and the spider kept undamaged. Right?

Up to your personal interpretation. The spider does what it wants, and you're the loyal Llothite Yath trying to protect it from the harm of others.
Someone trying to denounce you, however, could argue the that you were the one sending it into harms way thereby hurting it yourself.

also....
i seem to remember a DM ruling in the past that its unfair to pull out spider summons against drow because that is a cheap way to back them into a pvp corner. If they dont fight back, they die, and if they fight back, you can brand them a heretic.[/quote]

How is it unfair? 'Fleeing' is a way out. As is killing the summoner.
It seems a legitimate tactic to me.

i agree to the above and also it could be said that under normal circumstances using a cheap shot such as that to show up another lolthlite would brand you a coward, though it would be an excellent thing to do in more private assassinations (kind of the same way it is not right to stab someone in the back unless your trying to get the sneak attack dmg in real life ;])
so in my characters mind she is serving lolth by bringing glory to the spiders and if anyone had the balls to actually swing at them then she would be horrified and demand that person be put to death. if someone accused her of this as cruelty towards the spiders (which it could be in certain lights, though i doubt she would carelessly toss a spider into a loosing battle to save herself) she would be horrified and order that person dead. in fact, she will probably do that a lot...

and a quick question,
what drow house would a character like this most likely be from?
OR does this require in game rp?

You can create any background story you like for your character. If you meant you wanted her to be from a house that exists on the server, you'd have to send a message to one of the matrons, Greyfreth or kh_hawkes. Though there are always other routes on Amia than belonging to a house so don't think it's a requisite.
