| Post subject: | Requesting Devil Lore please <3 |
As the title says, in the hopes of continuing to RP Kiran as I believe he should be I am requesting lore on devils. I need to make sure he's behaving properly and that I have proper background knowledge for the things I do. As a side note does anyone know if anything exsists in the desert that is South East of Calimsham? |

As I am in the same situation as him (perhaps playing half devil here), I'd like use this thread to ask one thing (instead of starting another). Say you have an half devil mage. What source would he tap his power from? Mystra's weave? the shadow weave? or something else I wouldn'T know about? Thanks in advance. |

I figured that much <3 However, let me rephrase it. Take a devil. A pure devil. What would he use. Usualy they are not too inclined to depend on gods, wich is what made me wonder if they fuled on some alternative dark powers. |

there are many different kinds of demons/devils and i can't find a description to describe them all because they all have their individual characteristics. here is what i got on half-fiend though from monster manual 3.0 Monster Manual wrote: Fiends' magical nature allows them to crossbreed with virtually any creature. Spawned deep in the dark, nether planes, these fiendish offspring are abominations that plague the mortal creatures.
Demons and devils bring their progeny along to the Material Plane and loose them upon the world. Sometimes, however, fiends force themselves on mortal creatures to create evil half-breeds. The more depraved creatures are sometimes even willing to participate. Although half-fiend offspring are usually destroyed at birth, some survive to become grotesque mockeries of their mortal parents. All too rarely, though, one learns form and takes on the characteristics of its nonfiendish parent, turning from its evil heritage. No matter the form, half-fiends are always hideous to behold, having dark scales, horns, glowing red eyes, batwings, a fetid odor, or some other obvious sign that they are tainted with evil. Never truly fitting into any mortal society, half fiends are usually loners. In the infernal planes, they are mistreated and derided for their impure nature. Among non-fiends, they are outcasts, hated corruptions of natural order. Humanoid half-fiends are sometimes called "cambions." They often serve more powerful fiends or lead evil creatures on the Material Plane. I'm sure you can make some assumptions on what a real fiend is suppose to do, and how they behave toward half-fiends from this. I'm sure all other half-fiend players would find this interesting as fiends aren't from a cute anime flick where they are labeled as harmless, not understood, and so on Fiend is a general term to describe demon or devil without going to specific as to which. meh, thats the legit info i could find in my monster manual, I can't find anything else unless I wanted to post each of the devils'/demons' descriptions here which would definitely take too long. Just know that they are -evil-. They build armies, use foul magic, enslave mortals, slaughter mortals (for entertainment... The interesting thing is that I see mortals slaughter things and call it fun....) Oh, and devils/demons sometimes follow a caste-system-like organization with is described as ruthlessly efficient. i hope this helps. |

Thanks for the time you took for this. But you don't have to suppose I was going for a treehugging fiend. I actualy did my research on this. The point was only a finishing touch info as to where their casters draw power from. |

All magic in Realmspace, or at least on Toril, is channeled through the Weave. (Save for the extremely rare, secret and lame Shadow Weave few characters have any reason to know about, let alone utilize.) It's not so much drawing power from the Weave than through the Weave. It's not a conscious choice you make, either. When a devil, a blink dog or a priest uses a spell-like power, a superatural power or a spell, the power is channeled through and manifested in the Weave. This applies to both arcane and divine magic, not just the former. |

Devils. LE! A secret lurve of mine. Book of Vile Darkness is probably your best bet. Crafty, not nuts. Malicious in a very intelligent way. Manipulative. They won't like demons very much and they'd likely abhor anything celestial, or it'd be against their nature to depending on how much of his Infernal side you want to let through. Being good and being devil blooded would likely be a very large struggle. |

I'd be more inclined to suggest Fiendish Codex II: Tyrant of the Nine Hells ... it's a good book (and shows how the Baatezu are the victims!). To me BoVD has always been more towards the NE and unnecessarily 'obvious evil' bent. I love devils, and had great fun with my half devil (do you haveany idea how many people on Amia will happily sign an infernal contract without actually reading it? Neither did I), and I hope you do too. |

Admittedly this could be true but I think that a devil could easily do good deeds if it futhered his plots towards more evil deeds. PR says a slimy politician needs to be loved by the people. What he does behind closed doors now they dont nevessarily know that >;3 |
