Post subject:  A Question for Amia's Artistic Types:

I've noticed that there are a few of the members of the Amian community that have, quite simply, epic character portraits (along with excellent avatars, signatures, and even full-out artist renditions of their characters). All of these things inspire a great amount of envy in me.

Artistically, I am only so gifted - I paint pictures with words, and sketch scenes with vernacular; I am a writer and not much else. However, I would love nothing more to see my characters brought to life by the skilled hand of an artist. If any of the Amians out there happen to know an artist that would be able to sketch, draw, or paint a character of mine, I would be infinitely appreciative of that person's assistance.

On a similar note, if any of you happen to know a good place to find portraits that would be usable for some of my characters (that are not the NWN standard), I would also greatly appreciate this.

Thanks!

Google 'Nwn portrait pack' there's millions of them, the majority are really bad. But occasionally.. oh wow..

Honestly, with the exception of a few people, 95% of people's great portraits are photoshopping pictures they yanked from somewhere else, likely off DeviantArt.

At least we give credit to the original artist!

I feel bad when doing it, though.

Thankfully, I have a friend who's going to draw my (current) main characters and as soon as she is done, she will be paid appropriatelly (she is a very good artist) and I will use them as portraits.

I got most of mine from sharing with other people and downloading from the packs -I don't alter any f them because they are other people's artwork.

Anna Rigby (Cyzra at DeviantArt) has a session in her website about permissions, saying that people are free to use her images as long as there is a reference to her name and her website, which I do a lot at least in the PC Story portrait's thread.

But she also says that since most of the drawings are comissions, if the original owner asks you to stop using the picture, she expects you to stop using it.

That's why I am feeling much better to have someone now who will draw my own characters. :p

Mine is currently an altered DA picture, but as soon as it's finished, I'll likely change the file to a drawing of my own and use that, then have it updated in the packs.

I've do my own lineart and coloring as well. If you send me specifics, I can try my hand at it. (And I mean specifics. Like ubar detail about the character you want.) It may not be portrait worthy, but it might make you happy?

On another note - BlackDahlya is currently in possession of all the updated portrait packs that are Amia specific. Just ask her for them. :)

I wish i was really good at drawing, but im completely *Censored*. Would be good if i could draw or paint my own, that way the portraits would feel like my own.

I considered asking someone else to make my portraits for me, but alot of the time, even though the picture might be really good, can't seem to get what im hoping/looking for.
