In this case, add herbs to the Underdark too, or else drow will have trouble trying to get to the herbs.

Or have an alternative way for drow to create these heal pots.

And, please, pretty please... don't give smartarsed or half-arsed replies like "it comes with being drow", "drow are supposed to be (censored)" and so on.

I'm warily hesitent to support removing heal potions from stores YET, and I'll tell you why. I like the idea of having them removed, but I would suggest waiting and seeing just how difficult/easy/intermediate it will be to get heal potions to the general character-base, before removing them. I've seen it happen on another server where a crafting system was put in, and then items immediently removed from stores. The number of people crafting vs. the need caused a negative effect n the IC economy. I'm not saying don't make them more difficult to get, or even not to remove them, just that we should wait and see what we are trading for when we do that.

I've always bought potions, and so has everyone else that didn't have the 'knowhow' to make the salandran ones, plus the drive to portal there and snarf up the items for them every reset. Admittedly I never made or used any of the Salandran potions, because none of my pc's found out ICly how. I still have had PC's make it to level 30 with 1-2 mill in the bank.

I -do- know there was a vendor which would sell the heal pots for 1,500g each instead of the 2.5kish minimum average high appraise would get. Not sure if that is still in, but it -should- be normalized, if they are in.

Either way, even at the previous 0 appraise, 3,300gp/pot you got stuck with from Tristana, they're still viable to buy and use. A lot cheaper than dying anyway. The module is balanced around heal pots being readily available past a certain level, they will remain in shops.

Furthermore, they may not be worth it 'financially' for someone who can solo farm their own epic loot multiple-bosses to spend the time it takes make them via the crafting system. I say that is fine, the job system was never about making tremendous wealth, or leveling, is a supplement to RP and with some bonuses. Now if that system is viewed as being out of line with the intent of the Developer, or rewards from it as a whole, it should be adjusted.

I wouldn't entirely remove healing potions yet, for a few reasons.

As it is, Herbalist is the most popular Job choice. Healing potions are very valuable in combat. Without drastically improving the the other end-products and from other jobs, taking any other profession through the Job-System other than those used in making those things would be drastically underrated.

Not to mention if you remove them from stores, those in unpopular timezones will likely have no where to get the potions, or it will be one person that has to make the lot (at 50% fail rate for each step).

I might be feeling really snarky right now, but to me, saying remove healing pots from stores is tantamount to also saying such things as:

1. All epic spawns should possess A mob that casts greater dispelling in it, because people shouldn't be using buff potions and should take along a level 26+ CLVL Wizard/Bard/Sorc and Cleric everywhere they go with epic monsters.

2. Also GMW should be rebalanced so only clvl 28+ casters should be able to cast GMW+5.

3. During the daytime hours stealthers should be given a -75 point stealth penalty, when not inside or in Shadowscape.

4. All healkits should have a 'Not usable in combat' check.

5. All melee monsters past level 21 should have dev crit.

6. All caster monsters passt level 18 should spam Finger of Death and Wail or IGMS/Icestorm spam you.

7. All caster Bosses should cast CLVL41 mords disjunction as their lead spell, then timestop/igms spam you to death.

Healing potions, are important for several classes. Just because you aren't one of them or built/geared in such a way you do not need them, does not remove the fact some builds -do- and will.

Looking at it from a Fight/WM/Tumble dump class point of view. Without those, in epic areas, those classes are -worthless-, they just fall over and die, horribly. It'd be naut but a huge hassle, unless there is a way to set up NPC merchants with player provided inventory, that persists from reset-to-reset.

Shadowdancers and mages really want Heals rare because it'd make them even better at PvP than they already are; tanks, especially facetanks, really want them common because they're screwed without them.

Nothing wrong with bias, as long as you declare it up front. For the record I'd gain more than lose if Heals were rare. A couple of my characters would become de facto unplayable, but I've got a dozen others, some of whom only drink Heals because I'm rich and lazy: they're low enough on HP and incoming flak that kits would be fine, especially since they don't break stealth. The ones I PvP in a lot would gain mucho grande.

If you take out heal pots then woot you just made shadowdancers, clerics, wizards, sorcerers even more powerful then they already are. If you would take out the potions no one will play a melee class really in my view because it just became 20times harder when you could just be a wizard with a summon a dominated creature and your familiar in invis or greater sanc. Those people that want this any of you have a fighter charter?

Amenia would benefit with 100+ HP kits and heal-to-full-health spells filing every spell slot from lvl 5-9, and Jhae would be fine casting Heal herself, but still I am against making healing pots rare.
It would make PvM become ridiculously more difficult for most builds, and downright impossible for some,
And before someone shouts "find a cleric", try finding one for, say, your necromancer when the server only has 30 people on. Or one for your Llothite drow.

That right there is my whole point. I have toons on both sides of the fence. To me it just seems like a way to only increase the power of the most powerful builds and toons on the game already. Sure if you are a millionaire you can just bluntly say I will pay 20k a heal pot then every herbalist will just make heal pots for you and the non farmers or none rich pcs will just suffer more.

The other jobs are still worth doing thanks to the incremental XP. Though, if you can come up with a recipe that makes worthwhile end products but uses another profession's products, then you have a potential market and a need to buy things from other players.

Would have loved my Sally then ... she used to sell Heal Pots at-cost before everyone convinced her to add a couple of hundred to the price (still probably the cheapest on the market) - and then she donated all the profits to the Temple
Still, the fact is that demand is high enough that if PCs are the only source they will be able to demand any price - those selling cheaply will be bought up immediately, leaving only the wealthy to buy the rest.

Removing heal pots would have soooo many negative effects its not even funny. Namely, as Ruce stated, everyone and their mother would become a herbalist just so they can make heal pots (if they aren't a heal caster with craft potion already). The system would become something to support peoples grinding and PvPing and not what it was meant for, RP. I'm not at all against raising the prices of heal pots, but I think removing them would be a really bad move. Not to mention, I know I'd hate being bugged every two seconds by people needing heal pots.

The removing of the Salandrans crafting table puts the Grove in quiet the pickle too. That was a part of our trials.

If Herbalist can make heal potions, doesn't that exactly do the thing you didn't want jobs to do, give the player an edge? I'd say either make it costly enough to do that you only save 100 GP or so compared to store-buying them, or increase the usefulness of other jobs. Removing it from the stores will only empower the Herbalist even more.

Seriously speaking, the formula for the heal pot has so many steps, I doubt anyone will even be able to mass produce it. It's simply too much hassle right now.

Removal of heal pots from the stores will only result in a void that cannot be filled. Making heal pots regular drops might fill the void a little.

I agree with Prescia. I have a herbalist. I have to contact two other professionals to offer me things I need. I have to wait 2 min cool down to collect enough plants for my own needs. I am not even selling healing potions, imagine to provide to the entire server?

Before the salandra heal pots, were the mix of three ingredients, all easy to collect, all limited only by the number of plants. I could make 30 heal pots and be happy. I can barely make 10 nowadays. So why the idea of removal now?

I didn't want to keep two herbalist things running parallel, and I didn't just want to ditch the original system either. So, I integrated the old system in the new one. Blame the original system for producing heal pots, I am not going to change 99 jobs because one doesn't fit the plan.

The Melee'magthere sold them for about 1,100 each when I had appraise gear back on my Drow, I usually ran around with 2 bags full of them, particularly when I saw how expensive they were everywhere else.

Anyway, I'd support having Heal Pots removed from stores or their prices dramatically increased to say 10k a pop, but I'm a Cleric so my opinion's biased since I can healbot myself. :P
