So.. I have been having some difficulty trying to find, IC, players that could sell paper.

Having a botanist PC it's pretty frustrating because of that.

Am I being unlucky or do we really have a lack of PCs performing that kind of job?

What's happening? =(

I have a couple of characters who're loggers, and one who's a miller but not one who's both

It seems like a much easier deal to grow papyrus and have a scribe make pages from that.

There are a few ways to get paper...

Seems to be a dearth of brickmakers too.

Most of my chars use jobs to produce things for themselves or their friends, like gifts and stuff. Neither really have a reason or incisive to sell their goods to the public market.

Valas harvested bunch of flowers and candles for Xavi because her temple project is something he wanted to get involved in. He wouldn't bother doing it just for gold, seeing as any fair price would be a rather negligible amount.

So I guess my typ is to bug your friends (IC or OCC) for the stuff you need or take the appropriate jobs yourself.

I'm very new to the job system, but I quickly discovered empty pages are critical to the jobs my PCs will takie. And it's not easy finding paper.

I'm not sure what the solution is, other than what's mentioned above: take ranks in jobs that grow/make paper, or find someone who does and become fast friends.

Or market yourself and try to hire people. If the negligible gold amount is true then you won't have any issues keeping yourself supplied, either.

I do have a thread asking for that which I bumped - and keep bumping - once a week, sometimes less: http://www.amiaworld.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=38731. No reply yet. I also ask in game whenever I get my PC, but no-one knows of anyone who could make/sell paper.

I thought that the idea of the Job System was promote RP and interaction with other PCs, not only your OOC/IC friends. Apparently, I was wrong. Or I was too optmistic.

Give it time. A year from now the Job System(PBUI) will be rocking Amia with everyone using it, ppl knowing others that use it & so on. It's going to take time for ppl to understand it & use it. Keep trying though! It's people like you, people that use the Job System(PBUI), that will make it viable for the Amian populace.

There are some jobs or job combinations that are naturally more attractive than others - the HOA (herbalist orcharder alchemist) comes to mind. Others that produce low-valued items with little RP value are much less likely.

The papermakers are probably some other profession at the same time and are either busy filling their own requirements or finding it too much hassle to do full time.

It would be nice to see a revised census of the jobs people have chosen.

If it could be considered some sort of IC list lying around in cities, it would be even better!

Actually... we have a full list of jobs... who has what and at what levels. Not character name,s but we see numbers. I'm not so sure we should disclose that though, that's more for you guys to do on your own.

Either they don't check the forums or they only work doing things for themselves and their friends.
