I'm looking for an interesting familiar for a sorceress, with links to limbo and chaos hopefully. Ideally, it would be chaotic neutral and have some sort of wow factor.

I already have a slaadi EDK, and I'm really out of ideas. I don't want a mephit if that is what you can suggest, but I would love if a nerd out there could out-nerd me and suggest something I could totally use.

Githzerai do have a strong resistance to that thought of thing I'd imagine, since they did break free of Illithid control and tore down their empire.
I'm afraid in Limbo you're only likely to find CE though ... I would grab my Manual of the Planes, but I have class soon :P

Anything that can be simulated in NWN?

My apologies, it would seem I was thinking of Pandemonium. Yes, Limbo is a god choice.

The Slaadi are actually in NWN (the Spawning Stone of the Slaadi is in Limbo), so shouldn't be too hard I'd imagine, if you do a bit of reading you may be ale to come up with something for the others.

for some reason I can't find anything on chaos imps or chaos beast. however I do think an imp would work in its stead.
dark weavers are like shadow spiders
ironmaw and blood thorns are basicly plants.
githzerai I am unsure.
khaasta look something like lizard men
Leomarh are like lions
ragers are basicly planar barbarians.

reave-Reaves are large, powerful humanoids equal in sue to a mighty human warrior. They’ve got four arms, hut the secondary arms are behind the primary ones, not below them like an insect’s extra limbs. Reaves aren’t covered in skin, hut instead have a leathery, pebbled hide that gives them a natural AC of 8. However, they favor suits of garishly-decorated plate mail with flaring shoulder-plates and long chain skirts

wraith worms are like chaotic snakes of a sort

Well, familiars are supposed to be normal animals given greater consciousness by their master. In PnP, you actually need special feats to get planar or undead familiars. And even then, you can't have anything big and powerful.

Summoning stuff is a different thing. As a familiar, though, there's nothing cooler than bats, rats, cats and snakes!

Well, as I noted above, I already have a slaadi EDK. I am open to the possibility of trying for some sort of minor-slaadi familiar, but I'm looking for something more.... familiar-like.

Then actually take a familiar?

Test how the Ettin model looks when it's scaled down a lot. It's two-headed and grotesquely shaped, probably looks great as a chaotic familiar thing.

That's lame! Toads, on the other hand, are awesome.

Always seemed a bit strange to me how intelligent creatures could bond to a wizard in such a primitive fashion that familiars do. A familiar doesn't exactly have complete free will, so I would imagine things such as slaadi or imps would be quite averse to sharing their life with a mage.

I'd always considered there to be empathic and oppressive bindings, you know, sort of a good/evil differentiator in my own thinking, but strictly speaking you're right.

NWN by default gives us intelligent creatures though, and I don't see why it couldn't happen, especially if there are feats for it in PnP. It gives mages an avenue to be creative and stand out a bit in familiar choice, like necromancers choosing an undead familiar.

exactly so!

Evil has a whole host of stuff to chose from. Good have less, and neutrals are closer to nothing than anything. Thats my main problem here.

Not sure if it exists, nor what you could do in NWN to simulate it, but..

Chaos Elemental?

Some swirling entity of dust, light and darkness?

Other than that, I could only recommend another slaad. Maybe scaled down a little, a young one. Most likely Red. Heck, they get pushed around and slaved by their own race, who's to say you couldn't cast some permanant dominate on it. I do remember their being a rung belong Red Slaad in PnP, Mud Slaad. Maybe a miniature death slaad or something.

Reds are the lowest, and Chaos isn't an Element, it's an Alignment, so as far as I know it has no Elemental.

That's because Evil is cool, Neutrals are squares, & Goodies are lame. *evil laugh* MUHAHAHAHA!

You could ways have a Gibbering Mouther or something .... that's pretty close to a 'chaos elemental', although for NWN one of the slime models would probably be used for that

From Wikipedia

Quote:
Dungeons & Dragons 3.0 edition (2000-2002)
The blue slaad, death slaad, the gray slaad, the green slaad, and the red slaad appear in the Monster Manual for this edition (2000).[11]

The slaadi and their role in the planes are detailed in this edition's Manual of the Planes (2001).[12] The black slaad and the white slaad appeared in the Epic Level Handbook (2002).

The gormeel appeared in Dragon #306 (April 2003).[13]

The mud slaad appears in the Fiend Folio (2003) for this edition.[14]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaad

It goes on to say that even though it was mentioned in Fiend Folio, the actual cycle is never detailed. Yeah, I know, wiki's not the best source of info, but that's what I was going off on this particular case.

http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Chaos_Elem ... D_Creature)
(Copy all of this and paste into searchbar, URL things gets weird with parenthesis)

A homebrewn Chaos Elemental I think. I didn't see it was homebrewn at first cause the little date-box thing was in the middle of the page. Still, elementals are made up of the stuff of a particular plane. There's elements, para-elements, ash, steam, and whatnot. May not be one in core, but would make sense IMO. Perhaps an animated Chaos Spittle?

"Chaos" isn't what makes up the plane though. It's not the "elemental plane of Chaos". Soooo. *cough.*

I'm quite sure Chaos Elementals don't exist.

Edit: It would appear I'm a idiot, and was probably right with my above statement.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will have to go with some sort of slaadi, presuming the DMs allow it.
