Post subject:  Summon Greater Undead - feat

Quote:
Palemaster: Summon Greater Undead Spell-like Ability [Duration: 1 Hour / CL]

• 1st – 8thCL: Mohrg

• 9th – 14th CL: Wraith

• 15th – 19th CL: Dread Wraith

• 20th – 23rd CL: Wight

• 24th – 27th CL: Mummy

• 28th – 31st CL: Greater Mummy

• 32nd – 33rd CL: Winterwight (A very powerful summon with evil blight claws)

The Palemaster gains a bonus +3 to CL when using her spell-like ability.

The summoned undead gains +6 to Turn Resistance.

So does this mean that CL = Caster lvl needs to be 32 in order to cast Winterwight, which means that my char needs to be lvl 32 to summon winterwight, which in order means that I need a race with ECL -2 to get my character to lvl 32 to get the Winterwight?

So basically do I need a lvl 32 PM to summon Winterwight? Because if so, this sucks, I am wasting me lvls on PM and not even getting the strongest summon.

Sorry if this should have gone to the build thingy.

It means you need to have atleast 29 caster levels and be a PM, for example wizard 10/PM19. PM levels give you +3 caster levels, thus 10+19+3=32

It means you have to total out on 29 CLs (PM+Wiz/sorc) to get it.
29+3 = 32

I.E You can't have more than 1 level of something else, like BG or something. OR be drow to get it.

You need a CL of 32, and palemasters get +3 CL when summoning undead.

So you need to have a build with 29 levels of an arcane class.

PM doesn't give spellcasting every level... so does every PM lvl count as a CL or only the lvls when a characters CL is increased?

That, too, in answered in the "Summons" page, under Undead spells:

Quote:
CL is calculated as the sum of your spellcaster class level and Palemaster class levels if applicable. It's used to determine both the power of your undead summon and it's duration. Note that Bard levels are not counted for Palemaster summons.

MAn, this totally gets answered like once a month...

Iron's right. For the PM feat purposes only, your caster levle is Wiz/Sorc + PM. You also get +3 to it for Create Greater Undead. This means you need 29 levels of (wiz/sorc+ PM) to get the Winterwight, and yep, that means Drow can't get it.

Is it the same spell as the normal Create Greater Undead, by the way?

That's the reason for +3 CL, I guess. I mean, if we had 33rd level casters without PM levels, they'd get the Winterwight too?

It is the same spell, and it is why they get +3, yep.
