Hey, so Im reinstalling nwn (Vaylek will be back kicking around soon!), and i get this lame message at the 93% point of the third disk, saying...
Installation halted while copying the play disk. After setup has closed down, please go to C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\ and clean out any remaining files that were not deleted.
Then it asks for disk 1 again, so i pop that in and setup closes...
I clean out the files and try to install again, exact same thing happens!
Any advice? >.<

Sounds like some deinstallation that went wrong. Did you take out your whole NWN directory before installing?

Maybe a faulty play disk too. In either case, you aren't treading on illegal ground if you download the CDs from the internet. You have your keys, after all.

Thanks for the help guys.
I remember removing all trace of NWN when i uninstalled (which i think means Im going to need the patch again).
And now that I look at it, my play disk is looking quite sad and scratched
where would you suggest me downloading a new play disk?

Did you actually un-install, or just remove all of the files?
Could be a conflict with Registry or whatever that new system is that Vista uses, if it wasnt uninstalled properly.

Bioware website also has at least the Linux data available for registered players. DUnno about Windows files.

I did a full uninstall, and I don't use Vista...
Okay I'll check out some of those websites. Thanks again.

You'll likely have to uncompress, or re-combine the separate torrent files.
Once that's done, the disk image(s) will be in a .ISO format... you'll need to mount this to run the install.
You can download Microsofts Virtual Disk emulator here from my FTP:
ftp://ftp.xenocorp.net/Utilities/MS_VCD ... ulator.zip
Unzip and just follow the instructions, and you'll have a virtual drive emulator installed in no time!
Then you'll load each disk image (that .ISO I was talking about above) into the MS VCD, and then just go into Windows Explorer, and double click on that new drive there, it should start up the installation.
When you need to switch disks, simply go back to the MS VCD and "unmount" the disk, then "remount" the next CD.
Continue until your installed!
Regards,

Hmmm, I have successfully installed it, with my legit CD keys, but now I can't remember my bioware account password!
It seems to be running with the HotU CD, though I'm not sure if I'll need to change to the NWN play disk for Amia.

If you update to 1.69 you shouldn't need to use any disks. o.O

Once you've installed the critical rebuild you shouldn't need a CD.
Edit: Ninja'd.

yep, getting the 1.69 patch as well. Do I need the CEP pack too? I cant remember, its honestly been that long since I installed it.
And should I just email bioware about my old account? I'd seriously hate to lose my old characters, and I know they're still in the server's vault somewhere.

No to the CEP.
The DMs should be able to move your chars to a new account, although I don't know their policy on this.

Start-> Run
write regedit
Hkey_Local Machine
Software
Bioware
NWN
Delete the NWN folder in the registry
Then delete your previous folder, if you still have it.
try now.

Thx for the reply grave, but which problem would that fix? I have installed it successfully.
Ty for the suggestion yurell, to the DMs: what would be the feasability of moving my characters to a new bioware account?
I only have two characters if that makes a difference ^^
