Maybe is time. Bioware doesn't provide new anymore, time to provide ourselves. Devcrit, hips, etc are hardcoded and if even possible is a nwnx thing to hack. 8)

That probably depends on whether you looked at all the links and their images or just browsed the post.

Im pro hak, if disco's bored he deserves a treat!

More realisticly though, out of the decreasing numbers of new nwn players who exactly hasnt downloaded haks for other servers?

Oooh, yes please! And then use the other 50mb for more clothes options!

One proviso: If you do this, could you make sure that you have the web address for the forums on the Gamespy page, as this has been what has put me off playing other sited which needed specific haks.

Well, not me. Then again, I don't play other servers.

Didi wrote:

I may add a few things from CEP, but robes were already such a pain in the ass, and they are just single items. I am actually looking for something and perhaps you know if it's in CEP. I want hand/glove models that look like long claws. That would be very handy for making new monsters out of standard races.

Good idea. Probably handy to make some short URL for it like www.amiaworld.net/hak

I'm a supporter of haks too. There was a time when a large amount of players were looking for a server to play nwn, and having a hak-free server would attract them. However now it seems less and less people are joining. This would be a nice treat to us, the people already on amia.

I personally don't mind haks, however I presume that these new helmets, robes, weapons and stuff will be available trough the crafting system, yes?

I probably add a few to the crafting system and make a few loot or job system only.

Good for me, but I'm wondering, why not just the CEP, with parts disabled that you dont want. But not extracted from there.

And then maybe a separate couple for amia scripts/feats/... that get altered.

CEP weights in at 500 MB and well... let's say I have the feeling that they think quantity is the same as quality. I rather pick stuff by hand so you get a smaller HAK that really has the stuff you want.

I'm not at all against Haks, but I am one of those players who has never downloaded one. It's been less than a year since I finally figured out how to actually install the headpack.

I'm for haks but why do we need new wand parts? Wands aren't seen in a toons hands as they can't be equipped.

HAK's are actually simpler than overrides. It's just one file.

It's a very small hak and you can make wand/rod combis with by scripting. Add a selection of spells to put on the items in the loot generator scripts... and you get the direction I am thinking in. I'd not have taken them if they were much bigger, but this is just too small and handy not to add.

Well I for one have always been for more armour and weapon looks, more other placeables are always good because I have to agree with you Disco, having played a lot with the toolset myself, the choice is very limited and it shows here and there in Amia.

Guess I'll just give my most honest opinion on each pack.

The Icons:
Love them, sure they'll come in very handy!

Robes from the CEP:
I'm familiar with CEP2 and I like the larger part of the stuff in it. Why not do the whole CEP2?

New weapons and shields http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=836
Love them, some nice close enough medieval models in there, some are just alchamy gothic, but nothing to over done and unrealistic.

New helmets http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=1465
Well just a attempt at the Morrowind helmets. Can't really speak out against it as I've always used them myself in Morrowind and I am the person not to wear something better if I don't like the look.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=5061
Absolutely horrible, badly made by someone obviously new to modding suc things. I belief they'll stick out as an eye sore. Just like those over sized reflective helmets you can choose as heads at character creation.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=4232
Yes! About time, if it's not only the helmets but also the proper looking chainmails I'll be very very happy to see them added.

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Models.Detail&id=375
Rather horrid. Look just like the horned helmets we already have only with detailed super sized to sillyness. Don't even know what to say about the ninja mask things... And there's one with a black trafic cone on his head.

The placeables:
Nice, looks like they'll compliment the standard stuff nicely. No steam trains though please.

The tile sets:
Once again very nie and complimenting to the existing stuff.

Over all I'm quite pleased with the selection and for one I am for adding it to Amia. I do have one side note of which I'm not fully sure if it applies but I like to bring it to attention all the same.
Some time ago I tried making my NWN look move fancy by using some graphic over write textures and I found out they are nearly all only avaiable in 64bit which my win xp doesn't support and thus it won't show me the new textures.

Disco you realize though, if HAKs get the green light it will open a can of worms regarding char/feat/spell/ability balance discussions.

Some were crap, some were buggy, some where a bit too specific, and I wanted to stay at about 5 MB max.

I think the chitin one is unique and small enough to add. The 3 pack I like the last one of. Seems rather templarish. The third pack I really like, and those robes I took out of CEP. The 4th pack I probably take 1 or 2 models out, and certainly not that open snake monster thing.

I use WinXP 32-bit myself, and will distribute hak + test mod before we even think of implementing it on the server.

Yes, but we're not going to update the HAK (unless there's something really broken in it) so that's the end of that. I really to minimise the drag for people, and adding little bits whenever somebody wants something changed isn't the way to do that.

Besides, it's Terra's problem, not mine. :D

Funny thing is...that traffic cone helmet is the best one in the whole pic! I hope it's added. :P

Since it's being applied to both servers, I don't really mind except for the massive amounts of download. But Amia's worth the $2.00 (and, apparently, sometime between one and ten hours download) :P

I wouldn't mind seeing more clothing, though.

Well, I'm FOR this when it comes to having a lot more stuff to add in, use, dress in etc.

My only query is, if a new RPer wants to come along and play the module, they can't before coming to the Amian forum.

I have a hand override that gives fat models proper hands and pale master hands have fingers, would something like that be added to the HAK Pack?

They are from the Black Moon Chronicles, perhaps that's why I like 'em. :D

You are not able to download it somewhere else?

Well, if it CAN be an override I rather keep it there.

If it's brought in before the end of Feb, yes. Otherwise it may be touch and go ... if the haks were on Amia before I joined, I never would have, but now that I'm here I will definitely download them. It's only two dollars, I've donated more than that before.

Edit: Yes as in 'yes I will' not yes as in 'yes I won't'

I am severely disappointed. I am sat here with a bowl of popcorn and there is not a jot of controversy in sight. How dare you all!

Take the popcorn back over to the permadeath thread. Still going there. As for this never seen the problem with haks other then a newbie just looking at the GS listing can't just log on and start playing. On the other hand it also means that all of them will know that the forum exists. No more:

"I'll PM you. What's your forum name"

"What forum?"

Doesn't it say the website when you click for 'information' from Gamespy?

I want to put my weight on this and have most of it done and testable before X-mas (actually, before the 22nd). Considering the lack of opposition so far I doubt I'll even poll tomorrow so I can move on right away.

Actually, I could poll for 50 vs 100 MB. That's a lot more efficient.

Could always rename the server to Amiaworld.net island and Amiaworld.net Abroad or so. If people still don't get it they have only themselves to blame. And yeah I figure atleast a quarter of players have no idea the forum exists or that it serves a real use in relation to ingame play.

I vote for 100MB, if the extra room means we can have the Deity Cloaks....
