I have a question about the not-passing-others-when-hunting rule.

If you realie someone is in an area, (Due to battle music playing, or some similar means) should you wait until your character realizes that there's someone there, (By spotting the other character, or noticing the lack of creatures) until you leave?

Someone recently told me that you could get in trouble for waiting until your character realized, which I found kinda dumb.

As long as you don't pass them up without their consent, there's no issue. Being in the same area as them is fine. Whoever told you that is wrong.

Yep, just don't run past the group. It's also best if you don't attack anything they're fighting, if you happen to run up on a bunch of people. That prevents the appearance of killstealing and the ensuing gripes.

I think you get the least head cramps if you assume most, if not everything, that you notice in the game, your character notices as well. Battle music = the sounds of a fight in the distance, for example. You should never have to leave just because someone else happens to be in the same area. If you come from the left and they from the right, you don't even have to NOT kill anything. For straight A -> B dungeons that is impossible anyways. You either notice the lack of monsters and approach them from the back, or the other possibility is that they are coming back up and you meet them head-on. In which case "warranty void", I'd say. This no-running-ahead rule isn't valid for more than one linear run through.

Not everyone has the NWN music on, by the way. I know I don't.

Less of this, please. Mis-communications happen.
