I'm not sure if this should go here or in requests but since it's not really a request so much as an inquiry...
First of all, I know horses are not part of Amia and most likely never will be because they create way too much lag.
I was wondering if it would be possible for me to get my sirrush summon reskinned to a unicorn. I don't want to ride it (most unicorns would kill you if you tried anyway) I just want the look. It makes sense for a high level druid of Mielikki to be friendly with them. Could you make it so it was still the sirrush but looked like a unicorn, that way it would be impossible to even attempt to ride it? I don't know how reskinning works mechanically.
Before I started to RP about it, I wanted to know if it was possible and if the DM's would even allow it. If not, I'll think of something else. My DC's are starting to burn a hole in my pocket.

Nope. I looked when I wanted my ranger to have something look like Lurue. But nothing even comes close to it. There -is- a white stag if I remember rightly though.

depends what you mean by there is no unicorn, i'm sure there is somewhere on the nets, just not in the hak. I have semi wondered myself about unicorns existing in amia, mainly for spell component reasons but this also seams plausible, however disco recently added things/is adding things now so your gunna have to wait, if at all, to get one.

I think a Unicorn with my Elven maiden would be lovely, even as a personal non combative summon. =)

The reason there are no horses is because of the strain they put on PCs since they are so much more robust model-wise than what NwN is made for. Unicorns are horses+.

Not to mention, Unicorns are rare and don't show themselves to people very often. They're highly mysterious creatures.

actually, shadows of undrentide.
I played a ranger and went highly into the search and spot and listen skills, a unicorn was one of the creatures at one point that was near invisible to anyone but a ranger, that you could track and either animal empathy or strike it down I guess.
(not the desert. later on, nearer the giant that challenges you to a drinking contest >_>)

While I agree with you completely, your statement would remain equally valid if you replaced the word "unicorns" with... -- Dragons -- Rakshasas -- Beholders -- Greater Demons/Devils ... or a dozen other "rare and mysterious" creatures that Amians manage to encounter or summon every day. I like a good IC reason for justifying the game mechanics as much as anyone, but I think this specific argument might be a bit misapplied when pertaining to Amia.

Which I reckon is the closest thing to Unicorn in terms of having that graceful feel to it. Rather than being ferocious like most monster appearances. Pretty classy. http://image.gamespotcdn.net/gamespot/i ... een006.jpg

Well I did some research on magical beasts and I think I'm going to go in a different direction. I think a gray render could lead to fun RP, me being its adopted pet and him attacking anything that even gets close. Not to mention the random dead things it would bring me.
Good news for me too, there's one in the tool set. I'll try to think of someway to make it look unique though. Maybe it could have flamey claws of death, doom, destruction, and death. I really don't think a unicorn is going to happen. Now to get myself level 24.

The problem with horses is the animation set, which is loaded every time you enter an area with a horse in it (or a horse enters your area). This freezes quite a few people from a little stutter to a few seconds. I personally don't care if you got a PC that's not beefy enough to render an almost 10 year old game, but I do not want to give players a way to frustrate other players. That said, the forest tiles I posted are heavy if you switch on animations. That I don't plan to do for just that reason.

Unicorns are pretty pathetic anyway. I mean it's a horse with a horn. You might go so far as to say it's an albino mutant horse that grew a freakish tusk out it's forehead like those kids you see with rows and rows of teeth growing out the roof of their mouth.
I can see why someone would want them in game - but I can think of more practical summons/pets/whatever.

That's an odd question to ask and very odd that someone would take what is very clearly a statement about the lore of Unicorns as an OOC besmirchment against their character and suggests that they might be taking things far, far too personally.

Well if the comment was directed to PCs personalities/choices in your own experiences on Amia, I would of just skimmed over the statement, however if it was OOC that could be interpreted as a personal attack on the players behind the characters, I wasn't overally offended, to me in my perspective it didn't look kindly, that's all, I wasn't trying to cause a scene here Tormak.

It's odd - in science, whenever a model comes up I usually replace the handwavium particle with 'invisible pink unicorns', and suggest that model. A lot of the time it's just as reasonable as the original, which is somewhat disconcerting.
