As the tittle of the thread says, is that possible ? I mean, of course I would have to ask for player's permission on that, but that kind of spell would be possible for Blackguards as it is to paladins ? |

IIRC, BG's get Detect Good, not Detect Alignment in PnP. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/blackguard.htm |

Detect Good as a spell like ability, at BG1. As for how that works on Amia, you need OOC permission just like Detect Evil. |

Or just smack them with smite good to see if it triggers. |

You should have researched and asked that before your foggy DC request. |

It was in line and entirely correct. He should have researched it first. |

Some of us don't know the entire spell repertoire, By hand, nor the limits of PnP Magic. Tacking down upon them, In a negative way, Doesn't promote new efforts from the player. It condescending. On Topic Hellscourge pretty much nailed it. You're an evil sod, Test your metal against the foe and see if it hurts. |

Ah, but when you make a DC request, you should look into these things. |

Perks of being evil. Bane probably doesn't care of you smite some dolt and he ends up being non good, but Torm sure does if they're not evil. |

Especially when its a Paladin you smack. *SMACK* Paladin: OUCH! Blackguard: Alright, he is a good guy. He can come with us. Paladin: That was uncalled for! BG: Cry me a river Choir Boy. Now lets go and slay creatures. Paladin: Grumble. |

As they say, whats good for the goose... If an NPC can do it then why can't a PC with the 'training' to back it up? Paladins, Blackguards? |

A wizard did it. That is the commonly accepted reason for why two people trained the same way don't have the exact same abilities as the other. |

What the hell type of pussy paladin gets Smite Good'ed and then just grumbles about it? [removed] monsters, I'm about to have a BG shish kabob roasted over holy fire. |

BGs are known to try to fell paladins. Likewise, paladins are know to attempt to save BGs. What reason is there for them to fight eachother with swords all the time when they can use their ungodly charisma to try to win another person over? |

I thank you all for the comments. They were all useful. I also thank you, Dark Immolation, for that link: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/blackguard.htm Next time, I'll conduce a proper research before doing a request. Thank you all. |

During plots, a player could typically say "Detect Evil" on any player, and ask the DM if he could do it, and depending on the DM and situation - the DM may give an answer. DMs / Plots overrule the 'PnP Permission' rule. Must be DMside, of course. |

I still say though, since Smite Good still requires a full-force physical attack, and the paladin would certainly feel he's been slammed by evil power, that there is precious little room for words after that instance. And the words said then are likely "REPENT OR PERISH!". |

A couple of players need to make a paladin and blackguard who are always trying to turn the other towards good/evil. And play this whenever they're on. |

Is this before or after they both fall and get smote to Neutral? >_> Jk. A longstanding rivalry between my LG PC and a LE character is something I've always hoped for, but alas they always seem to end fisticuffs. |
