Not sure if I'm missing any groups or info, but I decided to go fish up some stuff. If anything here is wrong, out of order or can be expanded upon, please do feel free to add, and source it if you can.

Paladins to me are awesome, to me they've always had a certain mysticism about them, they're a cut above the everyman, maybe this might help someone, maybe not. But anyway... without further ado!

I didn't write this. I did do GoogleFu, some formatting and checking on it lore wise; I looked into this and it seems right from what I know. There's not a lot of info out there, I just took that which I found and mushed it up onto one post for ease of perusal.

If interested in being true to 'multiclass' options as per PnP for one's pally, here. http://amiawiki.shatuga.com/index.php/P ... s_by_Deity

Arvoreen - Arvoreen's Marchers

During the chaos of Tethyr's Interregnum, a group of halflings and few gnomes active in the Purple Hills under the leadership of Estemal Talltankard were largely responsible for keeping the anarchy consuming the rest of the country at bay. Estemal's band, known as Arvoreen's Marchers, are now recognized by the crown of Tethyr as a knightly order and are responsible for patrolling the Purple Marches, particularly County Vintor. Members of the March include warriors, priests of Arvoreen, and rogues (the latter operating as spies and couriers). Their chapter house, Keeperstone, is located a mile or two north of the halfling community of Barrowsmorn in a forsaken manor destroyed during the Ten Black Days and later rebuilt by halflings and gnomes under Estemal.

Azuth - Swords of the High One

Some paladins of Azuth belong to the Order of the Swords of the High One. These rare warriors must progress as paladins before studying wizardry fulltime, since they cannot multiclass freely. This dual focus fuses their paladin training with their wizardry.

Baravar Cloakshadow - The Knights of the Shadowy Cloak

The Knights of the Shadowy Cloak is a mysterious organization with cells in most gnome communities where Baravar is venerated. Members of this order include specialty priests, illusionists, cleric/illusionists, fighter/illusionists, and illusionist/thieves. The Knights work alone and in small groups. Their guiding principles hold that goblins, kobolds, and other humanoid races are an ever-present threat to the safety of the Forgotten Folk, and that, as a rule, members of these races cannot be redeemed. As such, the order is dedicated to driving away or exterminating humanoid tribes that might someday threaten neighboring communities of gnomes. Their methods are chosen not to draw attention or incite retaliatory attacks against those they are trying to defend. Many members of this order are members of multiracial bands of adventurers, for it is considered more effective to direct the militant talents of non-gnomes against the enemies of the Forgotten Folk.

Berronar - Berronar's Valkyries

Berronar's Valkyries are crusaders and fighter/clerics who operate as small bands of elite dwarven female warriors. The role of the; order is to ensure that dwarven warriors (who are predominantly male) return to their hold and clan alive afte going to war. As such, the Valkyries accompany dwarven armies to battle, but instead of immediately joining in the fray, they choose a high vantage point from which to observe. If and when small pockets of dwarven warriors are in danger of being overrun, or when a dwarf is too badly wounded to withdraw, the Valkyries charge to the rescue. The Order of the Silver Knightingale is a loosely structured order composed primarily of physicians, medics, clerics, and specialty priests skilled in the art of healing. Silver Knightingales, most of whom are female, accompany dwarven warriors into battle but do not fight except to defend themselves. Their role is to minister to the dead and dying and minimize the number of dwarven casualties using their healing skills. In peacetime, members of the order disperse to their individual clans and holds where they continue their roles as healers.

Chauntea - Field Guardians

Also quite rare, these courageous and compassionate heroes are champions of rural common folk.

Gaerdal Ironhand - Shields of the Golden Hills

The Shields of the Golden Hills are a strictly organized militant order with semi-autonomous chapters in most large gnome communities. Strictly divided into four individual branches according to skill, this group includes specialty priests, fighters, fighter/clerics, and clerics. The Shields are charged with defending the Forgotten Folk against attackers as well as serving as both the champions and officers of any larger force raised by the gnomes in time of need.

Helm - The Everwatch Knights, Vigilant Eyes of the God, Champions Vigilant

The members of the Companions of the One True Vision, an order of Helmite clerics, fighters, and crusaders, were known for being unswervingly loyal shock troops able to follow orders asking them to engage the most difficult objectives without breaking and hold the most trying positions against overwhelming odds. Recently, however, members of this order, many of whom served in the Helmite actions in Maztica, have taken a beating in popular reputation. Other affiliated Helmite orders include a small fellowship of battlefield healers known as the Watchers Over the Fallen, a group of dedicated bodyguards whom Helmite temples hire out to others to generate revenue called the Everwatch Knights, and an order of paladins called the Vigilant Eyes of the God.

Champions Vigilant - A prestigious and popular Tethyrian knightly order has saved thousands of lives during the civil war with fortified bases dotting the countryside. ( Multiclass as cleric or divine champion.)

Horus-Re - Claws of the Sun and the Ankh

This organization is composed of paladins of Horus-Re, who devote themselves to their divine responsibilities rather than politics of the nation. This relatively new order of fearless fanatics spends most of its time fighting servants of Set (or even Anhur, when he has been causing trouble).

Ilmater - Order of the Golden Cup, Companions of the Noble Heart

Order of the Golden Cup - The order is dedicated to healing and protecting the sick, innocent and weak. Its members are generally peaceful and always try to help, rarely do they seek out evil to destroy. They are not pacifists, and will not hesitate to fight when confronted by evil. Still, members basically feel their role is more toward healing and protection than battle.

Companions of the Noble Heart - The Companions of Noble Heart take it as their prerogative to seek out and destroy the cruel, people who torture and enjoy the suffering of others. The companions are very aggressive in seeking out their chosen adversaries. They especially dislike the Church of Loviatar, and once they have slain all evil-doers within a church of Loviatar, the Companions will destroy the church's foundations right down to the ground.

Kelemvor - Knights of the Eternal Order

Knights of the Eternal Order - The primary duty of the Knights of the Eternal Order -- Kelemvor's main order of paladins -- is to hunt and destroy powerful undead. They develop powerful undead-fighting powers by sacrificing other paladin abilities. http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dn ... 11a&page=7

Lathander - Order of the Aster

The church of Lathander has a knightly orders of paladins, crusaders, and fighters known as the Order of the Aster. Members of this order protect temples and shrines, serve to lead large military groups levied as needed to serve the church, and roam the land seeking to do good in Lathander's name and promote his worship. Individual temples and shrines of Lathander do not usually maintain standing military forces of substantial size due to their cost, although they often retain warriors and members of the Order of the Aster to guard their establishments in numbers that each temple decides are appropriate and affordable.

Milil - Harmonious Order

Milil has one knightly order of personable (and sometimes swaggering) fighters, padalins, and bards, the Harmonious Order, whose members, along with the clergy, guard temples and holy sites. Its members also often pursue quests or do good works in Milil's name, and tuneservants love to accompany them on these romantic and glorious quests. Though Milil's symbol is the silver harp, his symbol is not meant to directly link him to the Harpers, who use the cresent moon and harps; however, the church of Milil does have ties to Those Who Harp.

Moradin - Hammers of Moradin

The Hammers of Moradin are an elite military order dominated by crusaders and fighter/clerics with chapters in nearly every dwarven stronghold and members drawn from every dwarven clan. The Hammers serve both as commanders of dwarven armies and as an elite strike force skilled in dealing with anything from large groups of ores to great wyrms to malevolent fiends from the Lower Planes. The order is dedicated to the defense of existing dwarven holdings and the carving out of new dwarven territories. Individual chapters have a great deal of local autonomy but, in times of great crisis, a Grand Council (the reigning monarchs and senior Hammers of the affected region) assemble to plot strategy and divine Moradin's will.

Mystra - Knights of the Mystic Fire

The church also sponsors a knightly order of paladins and a small order of rangers. The paladins, the Knights of the Mystic Fire, are granted their spells by Mystra. They often accompany members of the clergy on quests to locate lost hoards of ancient magic and also form the cadre from which the leadership for the small groups of armed forces who guard Mystra's larger temples and workshops is drawn. The rangers, known as the Order of the Shooting Star, also receive their spells from Mystra. They serve as long-range scouts and spies for the church and also deal with magical threats that threaten the natural order of things, such as unloosed tanar'ri and baatezu and creatures born of irresponsible wizardly experimentation.

Nobanion - Legion of Lions

The Legion of Lions is a military order of wemic firemanes, clerics, and crusaders. In the aftermath of the Time of Troubles, this unorthodox fellowship of beast knights was founded by Karrlon, formerly a scout of the Mindulgulph Mercenary Company and now a crusader who fights for the Lion God's standard. Thought small in number, this elite fighting company has quickly become the champion of good-aligned beasts throughout the Realms and the bane of Malarites everywhere. In addition to the main company, individual members often join adventuring companies of disparate races to see more of the world and spread the faith of Nobanion.

Osiris - Order of the Risen Scepter

Drawn exclusively from those who have died in combat with servants of Set and been raised from the dead (sometimes spontaneously by the power of Osiris), they are primarily hunters (multiclass Paladins/Rangers of Set’s minions. They are casual towards death as they are granted the power to return from death unaided if killed by Set's minions with unjust or dishonorable means.

Red Knight - Order of the Red Falcon

The Order of the Red Falcon is a fellowship of crusaders, warriors, and a few paladins who serve the Red Knight and Lady Bloodhawk. Small in number, the elite knights of this order are dangerous opponents who have triumphed in the face of overwhelming odds on numerous occasions. Based in the Citadel of Strategic Militancy, many of the knights serve as instructors in the Red War College. Other serve stints in various armies throughout the Realms training the officers in military history. On rare occasions they are all summoned back to the Citadel and led into combat by Lady Bloodhawk herself.

Siamorphe - Order of the Silver Chalice

This group is primarily Tethyrian nobles dedicated to locating lost members of noble families and restoring to power those who will govern with the interests of the common people at heart. After several years of debate, they have decided to support the queen of Tethyr, and the crown recognizes them as a knightly order.

Sune - Sisters and Brothers of the Ruby Rose

The church also has a small affiliated knightly order of fighters, paladins, and bards who serve to guard temples and holy sites along with the clergy and who sometimes pursue quests to do good work in Sune's name to promote her faith. (The gallant kit from The Complete Bard's Handbook is especially appropriate for these bards if the DM wishes to allow it.) To become one of the Sisters and Brothers of the Ruby Rose, a candidate stands vigil in a church of Sune all night. If the Lady Firehair appears to the candidate in a vision during the night or somehow shows her favor, the candidate is admitted to the order. Members in this order are given to writing essays and songs of courtly love when not engaged in vital business, and often adopt a beautiful individual to adore from afar whether that individual would be flattered by such attentions or not.

Torm - Order of the Golden Lion, Loyal Order of Innocents

Order of the Golden Lion - Following Torm's rebirth, the church founded a new order of paladins, known as the Order of the Golden Lion, to serve as holy warriors of Torm. Led by First Champion of Torm Sir Dylan Lionshand, these holy warriors are especially dedicated to actively serving the Penance of Duty, and they wander the Realms in Torm's service. (For example, the Champion Reborn, Sir Gwydion the Quick, serves Torm by escorting Rinda the scribe who bears the Cyrinishad.) Many members of the Order of the Golden Lion are found guarding the temples of a wide variety of peaceful faiths, while others embark on quests to recover lost relics of various goodly gods. Failure to actively serve the letter and the spirit of the Penance of Duty by any member of this order results in the loss of paladinhood, reclaimable only through the casting of an atonement spell and the completion of a difficult quest in the service of Torm set according to the goals of the Penance of Duty.

Knights of the Order of the Golden Lion cannot advance in level without serving in some fashion that helps alleviate one of the debts mentioned in the Penance of Duty. Torm rewards this faithful devotion from time to time by bequeathing a minor quest spell known as the lion's roar, equivalent in effect to a great shout (as the 8th-level wizard spell with all the attendant penalties). The ceremonial costume of the Order of the Golden Lion is the same in the field as in the temple-a full suit of well-polished battle armor with an ornate helm. The armor polish used is a bright golden color.

Loyal Order of Innocents - Formed in 1369DR by the Queen of Tethyr, this small order is relatively wealthy due to noble sponsors, and is dedicated to Torm through the patron saint Shield of Innocence (an orog paladin), (Multiclass as fighter).

Tyr - Knights of Holy Judgment, Knights of the Merciful Sword, Hammers of Grimjaws

The church of Tyr has many affiliated knightly orders. Individual temples often have special orders or companies attached to them or supported by them, such as the Just Knights of the House of Tyr's Hand in Milvarune, mentioned above. Two church-sponsored orders of paladins are the Knights of Holy Judgment and the Knights of the Merciful Sword. The first order tends to attract those who emphasize the "lawful" in their alignment, and the second the "good." Knights from either order may join an elite order of paladins (of 7th or greater experience level) known as the Hammers of Grimjaws.

To join the Hammers, a paladin must be nominated by a member of the Hammers, and his or her nomination must be seconded by a senior priest of Tyr. If both these requirements are met, she or he must stand vigil in the holy sanctuary of a temple of Tyr all night. If the paladin is judged worthy by Tyr, Tyr sends the paladin a vision of his war hammer. If no vision appears, the paladin is deemed yet too inexperienced, but not a failure, and may be nominated again after some time has passed. If Tyr sends a vision of his sword, the paladin has knowingly or unknowingly failed Tyr in some way and must immediately complete a quest to atone. If the quest is completed, Tyr is pleased and forgives, and the knight is admitted into the Hammers. There is no quitting a quest under these conditions; either the paladin succeeds or dies trying.

Yondalla, Shields of Yondalla, Wayward Wardens

Shields of Yondalla - Paladins of the Protector and Provider are rare, but in halfling-run lands such as Lurien, they serve their fellow citizens with sword and shield. They Work Closely with the Hin fist Order of monks.

Wayward Wardens - The Wayward Wardens are a loosely organized fellowship of Yondallan priests stricken with wanderlust who wish to see the world. Estranged by choice from forming a long-term relationship a single community, Wayward Wardens serve the Provider and Protector by coming to the defense of besieged or threatened halfling communities in need of additional protectors. For example, during the Tethyrian Interregnum, many Wayward Wardens lived for a time among the halflings of the Purple Hills. The addition of two score elite defenders to the halfling communities of the region did much to keep the chaos of interregnum at bay.

...well, thank you for this. It is helpful stuff I think.

The fact that you've gotten no feedback yet makes me wonder if people are genuinely terrified of the thread turning into Paladin Debate #4135.

Hey I'm going to vouch for the paladin topics becoming slowly better throughout the years. Slowly. The last one wasn't even locked...I don't think...

Well, it's copy-pasted information or paraphrasing a few books we've already read so I didn't think there was anything left to say. Everything I might have had to contribute would just sound like negative nagging, like that this isn't a complete list, that there are theoretically an unlimited number of paladin orders, that paladins need not be part of an order, that it would be nice to have citation so we know where to look for the original information, that some of those are knightly orders who happen to have a few paladin members as opposed to actual paladin orders. And so on. But that would be rude and unnecessary, so I won't say it.

I do appreciate posting this information for anyone to view and use as a base for learning more. I really didn't feel it's necessary to criticise it in any way. And when I decide to shut up for once, Yossarin comes harrying for feedback.

I just put stuff I found by googling into one post and formatted it for people's ease of reading.

If I'm missing stuff then its missing, if its wrong, its wrong and I'll fix it. Just was trying to help folks out so they didn't have to go through the trouble of doing it themselves.

Anyways, more info's always better and stuff.

I don't deserve praise, I didn't write this stuff.

Added a few that were missing from the Amiawiki.

Know any more to add, Iron? And which ones are wrong?

Also, there's totally nothing saying you have to be one of these if it doesn't fit what your character would do. If your character wants to try to start their own order, there's nothing to say they can't get IC commissioning/divine approval by a NPC priest (Ergo DM approval). Build it up, the whole nine yards. Get players involved, it'd be totally awesome. Anything that generates more interest/RP/involves more people is great.

Osiris other order:

Brotherhood of Those Who Smile in the Face of Death

The primary Paladin order of Osiris and allegedly the oldest surviving Paladin order on Faerun.

The Order of the Risen Scepter

Drawn exclusively from those who have died in combat with servants of Set and been raised from the dead (sometimes spontaneously by the power of Osiris), they are primarily hunters (multiclass Paladins/Rangers of Set’s minions. They are casual towards death as they are granted the power to return from death unaided if killed by Set's minions with unjust or dishonorable means

It's a bit difficult to say which orders are supposed to be pure paladin orders, and which are knightly orders with paladins in their ranks. There's a bit of a difference there, since the rules and expectations the order itself imposes would be different. But I doubt it's very important.

Fellowship of the Purple Staff:

A group consisting of clerics and paladins of Chauntea, Helm, Selûne, Lathander, Sune and Nobanion, dedicated to the idea of taming the land north of Turmish and creating a Holy Realm. Some members are also part of the Vigilant Eyes of God or the Field Guardians. (Champions of Valor)

Knights of Imphras II or formally, The Most Holy Order of the Sacred Shrike

An elite order of paladins and clerics of the Triad who've sworn fealty to the crown of Impiltur. They protect the land from internal and external threats, especially destroying hidden dangers of ancient Narfell. (Champions of Valor)

Knights of Samular

Order of Tyrran paladins based in Thornhold near Waterdeep. They believe in the supremacy of law. (City of Splendors: Waterdeep, the novel Thornhold.)

Order of the Crescent Moon

An Impilturan order of Selûnite humans and dwarves who worship Clangeddin Silverbeard. Founded over a hundred years ago to fight lycanthropes, it mostly survives through a few families who carry on the tradition. Not all members are paladins, of course. (Champions of Valor)

Janessar

Servants of the Triad and defenders of the poor and downtrodden of Calimshan, this group patrols the roads stopping banditry, illicit slave cargo etc. They seem to be renegades, maintaining secret strongholds in the Marching Mountains. (Champions of Valor)

Knights Kuldar of Barakmordin

A Tethyrian order of servants of the Triad, sworn to heal the sick, help the weak and avenge injustice. They have some 2400 members, and have loose ties with the Janessar.

You can find more in the 2e deity books. I can't be arsed to go through all of them, but every god has an "Affiliated Orders" section you can easily check.

A touch late on this, but as mentioned on the Amia Wiki, there is another order for Ilmater called the Holy Warriors of Suffering. From http://davidcwood.com/adnd/campaign/blo ... lmater.php (don't really know how accurate this source is, being straight from the internet and all...) I found:

"The Holy Warriors of Suffering are an active force in the North. These paladins often guard pilgrims and caravans traveling through the wild lands. They demand no recompense for their services beyond a bit of food and an audience for their tales of Ilmater's glory. The bitter winters stretch one's endurance and increase suffering that the Holy Warriors willingly embrace, as one of Ilmater's faith should. They have small chapter houses in every major town in the North where they can exchange information with their brethren and have their deeds and tales recorded for posterity. They use the purple crocus to symbolize the end of a winter of suffering and the hope of spring and beyond."

Transcribed from Powers and Pantheons (the book that details both of Osiris Paladin Orders)

Brotherhood of Those Who Smile in the Face of Death (The Deathgrins):
The Brotherhood was formed from the survivors of the battle that drove the werecrocodile followers of Sebek from Mulhorand and destroyed the city of Sekras. The Order of Paladins has continued to serve as the sword arm of Osiris when evil takes root in the Old Empires. Since the Godswar, paladins of the Deathgrins have spent a great deal of effort and sacrificed the lives of many of their number attempting to destroy the Cult of Tiamat in Unther.

And the correct Information for the

The Order of the Risen Scepter:
Is an elite order of Paladins and Lawful Good Rangers who have been raised by the clergy of Osiris after being slain while engaging in honorable combat with the clergy of Set. If the priests of Set killed them by violating the principles of maat (as they always seem to do), members of the order come back to life being raised stronger than ever. (Each risen paladin or ranger receives an additional +1 to all saving throws and recieve maximum hit points per hit die. Such paladins and rangers suffer no ill effects from being raised or ressurcted)

Cool. Didn't know all that much about the real Hammers of Moradin, but I sure do now. Maybe I'll make a dwarven paladin.

Also:

The Knights of the Mithral Shield, based in Citadel Adbar, is an order of 300 Dumathan crusaders and multiclassed delvesonn/fighters. These elite dwarven warrior priests serve as the honor guard of King Harbromm of Adbarrim and, as of the fall of the orc-held Citadel of Many Arrows, King Emerus Warcrown of Felbarr. Each Dumathan knight is sworn to serve the Mountain Shield as protector of the shield dwarves, whom Dumathoin is forever pledged to protect.

So they're centered around a certain region. Doesn't mean there couldn't be other local units. And for those not in the know who can't bother to find out what a delvesonn is, it's a specialty priest.
