Is it possible for someone to send a 'Tell' on someone else's account?
I had a very odd thing happen last night.
Just as my character transitioned into the Cliffside Shrine, I received a 'Tell'...from my account to me.
I have a screenshot of it.
When I tried to reply (by clicking on the small icon), my account name came up.
I swear I didn't type that in there...especially to myself.
There was no DM online (as a DM anyway, I didn't want to bother the one I knew was on playerside) because I thought one might have just been messing with me, but I got no reply from DM chat.
This kind of bothers me because if this can happen, then they can 'Tell' other people stuff from my account as well I think. Now I wonder if this has been going on.

I was RP'ing with myself at the time.

It's a glitch, in all likelyhood. I've seen something similar happen to myself, I just can't remember what it was exactly. It's been a while. It is not possible to send Tells and hide your identity, or otherwise it's been a well-kept secret for years. It's never come up.
Also, compare to the portal rod glitch that shows someone else's selection (or used to, in mushroom age; now I think sometimes it says you're porting somewhere else than you actually are, if two people use it simultaneously?).

It's a glitch. Have happened to me once where something I said disappeared and appeared above someone's else head as if they said it IC somewhere else entirely. Also suddenly had my char say something that someone else probably said and it got somehow shifted to me in a bug.
Doesn't happen alot though. Only happened those two times to me so far, and I've been playing alot of hours total.

I have my computer plugged directly into the modem, I omitted the router for now.

Ah, I see, alright then.
I know how to turn the damn thing on, check my e-mail (all spam), print character sheets for my group, play a few games, and now I'm learning AutoCAD, lol.

Also could be a glitch where person who sends tell leaves and another person takes 'his place' in player list or whatever. Person who 'takes place' is linked to portrait shortcut. You just happened to be lucky one, never managed to get my own account linked to someone else's tell.

That weird glitch has happened to me a few times, along with many other weird glitches. Tis' nothing to worry about. Just log out and log back in and it should fix the problem.

Its more of server issue which is fixed by person who sent you a tell logging back in. Alternate way to "fix" the problem is going into battle for 10 min or so and merging/separating chat windows to clear chat history.
