So I noticed the following picture on the threads and signatures as well:

Basically, now we have to login on imageShack every time we login on the forum as well ? Oh... boy...

Stop using imageshack then.

But weird is... it started after the hacker attack.

Post subject:  Re: Image problems

Images can be hacked or used to hack by having a virus tagged as an image so it seems safe to open it or click on it. Its how many get by Sony's PSP and PS3 security to install custom firmware to use mods on the consoles. The image is really an installer but tagged as an image so the system thinks it can open it. Out on the internet, it not only fools the systems, but people browsing as well.

More than likely this is a security feature to block those possibilities. Right after the hacking the security was updated.

Oh, cool. Thanks for the lecture :D Any suggestions what I could do from now on ?

Perhaps try a different picture hosting site. One that is a bit more secure than imageshack. Since if it is the sites security, its probably going to be staying that way.

My browser doesn't do this, and I am just fine. It's a you thing.

Yeah, just checked my story topic (which used Imageshack) and it's still good.

But you have to login on Imageshack each time you access the story topic ?

...No, he doesn't. You have issues in your own browser, like we said.

I probably have an issue too. The same happens to me after the attack.

I tried opening the image directly but it did not work.

It did not seem to be a virus, though.

It might be something with Chrome. Or do you use Chrome too, Tormie?

Nope, I don't have to log in.

Didn't try all of 'em, but Firefox isn't requiring me to log in to ImageShack to see images. Seems like it's probably a glitch on your end, m'boy.

Thanks PaladinOfSune and Ainjyll. I'm using Opera, btw.

Also possible more people than just the DMs got hacked, I'd start resetting all your passwords folks. Better to be on the safe side.

Post subject:  Re: Image problems

Wait, are you actually being prompted to enter a username/password each time a page with an imageshack-hosted image is loaded? If so, you're being phished. Entering a fake username/password should make the prompts go away. But do run a full scan, as it's quite possible you're infected. And as Mahtan said, reset your passwords.

If you're not being greeted with such a prompt, then I don't know what's up.

Nope. For example, I can't see anymore the pictures I've posted on PC story anymore. Only a Frog and the following message: Domain Unregistred. TO view, register at: bit.ly/imageshack-domain. So, each time I login on imageshack the picture is loaded and I can see it. But it started after the hack attack. I'm using Opera, but I got the same issue using Google Chrome.

My computer is not infected. And I sent them an e-mail. I hope I got an answer ASAP.

It seems it's not a single problem related to my browser or else. I've noticed a lot of forums here in Brazil reported the same problem as well.

What is bit.ly exactly, anyone? I've seen that appear on the front of links on facebook and they've contained a virus from what I have heard. You know, those links that claim to be a free product, or extreme shocking news and things like that.

Edit: Ironic the way your other image is from Image shack and works okay?

Post subject:  Re: Image problems

Looks more like a phishing virus. Replacing imageshack stuff with those so you put info in and they steal it.

Which means I suggest no one register on this imageshack thing, and anyone seeing them better search for spyware, because your browers possibly been hijacked.

Author:  Logicality [ Wed, Mar 02 2011, 0:36 AM ]
Post subject:  Re: Image problems

Maybe, but the link itself is legit - http://bit.ly/imageshack-domain is a harmless redirect to http://stream.imageshack.us/content.php ... ter_domain

bit.ly is a URL shortening service, much like tinyurl. It can be used to disguise links to unsafe pages but the service itself is safe.

I doubt it's been hijacked since I have this issue over several different pcs, even public ones.
It's probably a domain issue. i.e. the frogs hate brasilia.

And is entirely unprofesssional and would not be used by a company like ImageShack. Thus is very very suspect. Nither of those links look like ImageShack links. Likely recreations of the website.

This is the domain name being used.
http://stream.imageshack.us

That is not the imageshack domain name.

Post subject:  Re: Image problems

imageshack.us is imageshack's domain name. stream.imageshack.us is a subdomain of imageshack.

Post subject:  Re: Image problems

well actually you dont need to register on imageshack at all to get a direct link.

1. Upload your picture as always.
2. Click on the thumbnail
3. Right click on the image > View Image (in Firefox)
4. Ta-Dah!
