This post feels a bit more like a rant as I was so infuriated that the character was doing this ICly. I'm not the greatest speller nor is are a lot of people that RP on this server, hell a lot of them don't even have english as a primary language. But this person that shall remain nameless was carrying any little spelling mistake I made over ICly, talking down to my character about proper pronunciation of words, grammar, sentence structure you name it. When talking to the person OOC about it he/she simply said WYSIWYG and that if I don't want to deal with that ICly I should OOCly take a careful look over everything I type before sending.
For one, I have one resolution setting and after about 2 sentences I'm writing blindly so at that point words are bound to get a little jumbled and misspelled the odd time. And whether I read it over or not I don't always know the proper way of spelling words that both my character and I know the meaning of and know how to pronounce it. I've never run into this problem with any other person I RPed with. Spelling mistakes happen and unless I mess up and create a word that changes the meaning of the sentence posted or the word is just an abomination of its original form, I don't like to post those little corrections right after I post like. //True //The //occasion Hoping that the people I'm RPing with are smart enough to decipher what I meant for my character to say, this is not english class where I'm trying to get a good grade on my literacy skills. This is a game where I come to have fun and hopefully cause fun for others, I shouldn't be this annoyed with someone on an OOC level for what their character is doing. So what are other peoples thoughts on this, should I just be more careful with all my spelling and keep a dictionary on hand when I RP, or should this person just chill out and not be such an english nazi.

This can annoy me a lot to. I can only suggest resolving it icly.
I've had to stand and do nothing as a paladin, and I've threatened to do worse with my not so nice characters.
Also when you use the emote wand to sit and folks rp for 20 minutes your a narceleptic... just why?

when they make an error.
Poor english comprehension does not equate to poor Roleplaying.
An opinion I'd adhered to for two years now. this.

Draco.....It's not you. Luckily I don't have /that/ particular OCD but when I encounter players who do that kind of thing suddenly my character has somewhere else to be. No use in attempting to change those kind of habits for someone else and why stick it out if all I'm doing it annoying them. And really, why stick around and be annoyed myself. You can misspell or make mistakes or drop letters or whatever else with my characters. If I really don't get what was just said I ask.

Its not a problem to mess up a word every so often but the esential thing is to fix the typos for words that mean other words and could thus construe your intended message to the people your emoteing and speaking to.

Take a step back from your keyboard, take a deep breath, and think of something pleasant other than throttling the jerk at the other end of the internet of course. Feel better? Yeah, doesn't work for me either... Really all you can do is ask the player OOC to refrain from spending all his time correcting you and more time simply RP'ing. If that doesn't work, you have gained valuable insight into your possible future interaction with him or her. When enough people have the same experience, they will either get tired of being told to stop or be very lonely when no one wishes to put up with it. Or you can be childish like me and intentionally misspell every other word....

I would make a point of having a mispelled word in every sentence I typed in the presence of that player. I enjoy poking a stick at a persons OCD.

I roleplay that if I typo, the character's speech tumbled over themselves. They correct themselves IC. *Shrug* And I don't much mind when people correct their posts, to each their own, really. It's your RP style, do what you want. Live and let live.

Typos are ignorable.
Completely mangling the English language is not.

The thing is I do really enjoy RP with this person, in the past I've seen nothing but excellent RP from him/her. Only with this one character that has a more in depth relationship with my main character. I did try solving it in an IC matter and my RP was just dismissed as the person focused on the most trivial of spelling mistakes that I made which of course, only annoyed me more. I don't want to just avoid the person but on an OOC level, what she/he is doing is just completely rude. Hopefully when the person reads the kind of responses left here, they'll see that I'm not the only person with negative views on that. Acting like a snob and a jerk IC is all cool, not everyone can be a nice guy. But taking OOC spelling on an IC level is not fair to anyone, like what about people with dyslexia that play this game. I do know of at least one, that kinda crap hits people on an OOC level more than IC because when you misspell something. It doesn't mean your character mispronounced, and for those that do RP they fumbled their words and correct yourself. To each his own but that doesn't apply to the majority of players. Thank you for your input, it was very helpful.

This sounds like something that has to do with a very special thing in mind and you should try to resolve this among yourselves rather than go to the forums like this. If it cannot be resolved that way, go to the dms.
Locking this as I don't think a specific incident is a good way to start a forum thread. Draco you can pm and give me some good reasons why I should reopen this.
