So I just got my new laptop and Im in the process of trying to set it up to play all the awesome games I want to play. Naturally I'd like to get NWN and running.

So I used an ISO file I had of the game and I also had the keys saved in a notepad document to install the game. Then I downloaded and installed the 1.69 critical rebuild.

Now Im trying to get the hak files but my Downloading speed is horrible and I only get soo much per week.

My question is this. can I just copy and paste my nwn folder from my one computer to the next?

Yes. I believe you can! If you have some way to transfer the files from the computer to your laptop all should be good.

I don't know about copying everything. It's probably safe to do that. The only things that would be different are possibly the ini files (Where your CD keys live).

But I see no reason why you can't copy the /hak and /tlk (And /override and /portraits) folders over.

It will probably be best copying the files over, that Cloak mentioned rather than the whole thing, yeah.

NWN doesn't write to the registry the same way a lot of other programs do. You can literally grab your entire NWN directory and move/copy/paste it to anything you like. You can run it off an iPod. You can drop your directory on to any computer and go. Double check the settings so they match up with whatever your current rig is (screen resolution, mainly) and really, that's it.

Supposedly, this may cause a bit of fragmentation (I've never had any problems with it whatsoever, myself), but you should really be defragging every day, or at least week, so there you go.

Never have to Critical Rebuild again.
