So, I noticed that spell immunity works somewhat oddly with different spells.
Tested it in the spires, and being hit directly by Blade Barrier was warded off the first time. When running over the blades, you get damaged. Is it not still a spell in effect? And evocation on top of that, not blades that are summoned by the conjuration school. I assumed it was somehow connected to the spellcraft phenomenon, where it only works with instant spells, not DoT ones. Could you explain this?
Then there is another thing, which seemed more strange. Dispel Magic affects the shape, even though it should be immune to it. Granted the dispel spells do not check for spell resistance, but it -is- still a low level spell. Is it connected to the lack of SR check the spell has?
Spells that bypass Spell Resistance also bypass Spell Immunity.
So, no, it's not strange that Dispel Magic works. For example Druid spell Crumble - I remember this from HotU campaign, long ago as this was - bypasses Spell Resistance and can therefore be used to wreck Mithral and Adamantine Golems, which are both spell immune.

AOE spells with durations sometimes bypass immunity and whatnot.

Most area of effects spells do not check for spell resistance, spell immunity and what not. It's actually coded to be the same check - if something ignores spell resistance, then spell immunity is also ignored... meaning spells like Earthquake ignore Spell Mantle entirely.
Look at Grease for an obvious example - the first 'tick' of it triggers Spell Resistance, but every check from then on will ignore Spell Resistance/Immunity. It's an oversight.
