I'm referring in part to Skywing's Client Extension for NWN2. It's a handy little tool that adds a lot of nice features and also re-enables the Master Server list. Is there anything like that for NWN? I've been using the auto logger I found in the suggestion downloads thread, but it still tries to connect to the original master server that's no longer supported. |

And, follow this procedure to exclude the delay when you're connecting and waiting for the master server to timeout. It sets the timeout wait time to zero. Gers wrote: 1: Open windows search.
2: Search for hosts. Just "hosts", there's no .exe, .ini, or any other extension. If you're using XP, the file should be in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\, for example 3: Right click on the file and copy it to your desktop. 4: Open the file using Notepad 5: Under the area marked out by hash marks (#), you'll see an IP addess, usually 127.0.0.1. DO NOT EDIT THIS ADDRESS. Under this address, type in "0.0.0.0 nwmaster.bioware.com" without the quotes. 6: Save the file, and close out Notepad. 7: Right click on the hosts copy on your desktop that you just edited, and copy it. 8: Go back to the folder you originally found hosts in, and paste/overwrite the edited version in there. 9: You're done. Go play NWN now. |

Thank you so much! Too bad it doesn't seem to keep chat logs. Oh well, I haven't really made that much use of them anyway lately. |

Yes, I said earlier I was using that but I can't run both programs at the same time, right? I suppose it could be done by patching the nwnmain file but I'd rather avoid that and just use the NWNCX loader. |

Reject connections to nwmaster.bioware.com with firewall works everywhere. p.s. after all, using /etc/hosts for such things is as inelegant as windows itself. |

From the "Liz is a dumb twit" department: what does a client extension do? |

Extend the stuff you can do, letting you do or have more stuff. |

Yeah. I know what the word "extend" means. That's not really what I was asking. |

I know I was trying to be funny http://www.neverwinternights.info/nwncx.htm wrote: For the player, it does a few very noticeable things: • removes the long wait for the (non-functional) Master Server to time out • unlocks the game's camera angle limitation (so you can do things like look straight up to see more of the game) • makes it possible to see new weapon visual effects, beam effects, and "skin" effects (like with barkskin) in-game • opens the possibility for open-face helms (custom content creators needed for this) • gives DMs the ability to use "instant feats" while possessing an NPC • restores multiplayer server listing in-game (using data from Skywing's replacement listing server) (admin info) I don't use it myself though. |

I got it working on mine a few days ago. It's very nice actually, especially the restored master list. I had to jump through some hoops thanks to Windows 7, though. |
