We have tried a lot attract new players over the last two years. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. So we decided that we are going to try the oldest trick in the marketing book: sex sells. We'll first try a minor, tasteful addition (the banner, in case you missed it). If it works we'll see if we can strike a deal with some adult entertainment site and cross-reference it with ours. And don't be a prude, please. |

I'm a new player here. I started here because I picked up Baulder's Gate: Enhanced Edition on Steam for $9.99, got bored because it was outdated, and decided to buy NWN. Then months later, when I was bored because I thought NWN multiplayer didn't exist, I saw a comment in a thread on Reddit mentioning it then found this site. I truly believe there are plenty of people who would love to play here if they knew it existed and it was also EASY to get started. What does an absolutely new NWN player like myself need to do to get started? 1. Buy NWN likely from GOG.com ($9.99?) 2. Download & Install NWN. 3. Install the latest patch. 4. Request a multiplayer CD-key from GOG.com because they don't give you a working one by default, this takes 24-48 hours. 5. Install the Amia mod hak, install overrides, create short cut to connect to server or figure out how to connect (this actually isnt explained anywhere I saw in the new player guide). 6. Read and understand the Amia rules, etc. This can be daunting for someone new to RP, such as myself. Is there a basic "how to not upset people on Amia" guide somewhere? Put it in the new player guide? It might be evident now what the problem is here.. if you aren't already targetting an existing NWN player there is a LOT of work that goes into getting from start to playing here. I would suggest eliminating as many of those steps as possible or making them as easy as possible if you want to increase population. Think back to how I started here.. reading Reddit, saw a random comment in a thread, searched for "Amia NWN"... but I already had NWN installed and patched with a multiplayer CD-key. There are two "new player" problems you have to address.. new NWN players, and new Amia players. Start marketing to a broader market of people who are looking for any interesting RPG, provide them with a complete, idiot's proof guide to buying NWN and doing everything necessary to get started on Amia having never played DnD or NWN before. Then place a small call to action somewhere, or use as a landing page in marketing campaigns, this true "new player" guide for people who don't even have NWN. Just be Amia, not NWN Amia. Above the fold on this guide have a bunch of interesting screen shots from Amia, etc and below the fold have those 6 steps above with no more than 1-2 sentences for each steps and direct links to every download including the GOG purchase page. |

On a more serious note! (I guess I am a prude, and am proud of it!) The time Amia starts encouraging erotic role playing (with models for it and such), is the time when Amia looses it's credibility. Though, there's a difference of allowing and encouraging, and I see no harm in allowing erotic rp in tells or whispers. And just to be less of a prude: jimbono1 wrote: Did... someone say catgirl?
