I really suck at drawing, and especially with paint-like softwares. I do basics here and there with paint, but I never managed to understand a thing with photoshop..

Back then, I remember I had a software (fireworks) that could change the hue of a picture (changing the skin color of an already existing picture for example), but that software ended up corrupting my poor laptop :D

So here are my requests!

Quote:
Goal: I want to change my forum avatar

Situation: I have a picture, and I want to use her head because it fits with Saya.. except she doesn't have the right skin color and doesn't have Saya's marks.

Request 1: Can someone change the picture for me?

Request 2: Can you tell me how to do it -and/or- if there is an easy risk-free.. and free software that can help me to do that sort of stuff -easily-?

Meanwhile, here is the picture:

Image

The changes I want to make are -->
* Changing her face's skin color to a blue tone that is a bit lighter than her current hair.
* Changing her eyes to a purplish crimson color
* Changing the color of these ear things to the same color of her blue skin (to make them seem like elf ears)
* Add marks on her cheeks

Image

(Marks should be the color of her hair - that picture sucks.. only a reference! :D)

You're asking people to trace? Have you asked the artist's permission to do this?

I most definately did not! That character is from a video game called "Record of Agarest Wars". She is called Murmina, and the picture I sent here is the official look of the character In-game.

That's pretty public domain to me!

Except it's copyrighted material from a video game and the artist on that received renumeration.

You're better off just saying 'draw something like this' than asking for plagiarised work.

Because I bet the people who drew your avatar required Nintendo's permission to reproduce them? Or when Marcel Duchamp added a moustache on the Mona Lisa and wrote LHOOQ (sounds like "she's hot at the ass" when pronounced in French) asked for permission too?

I know the line between plagiarism and legal stuff the like, I even teach the basics to children in school... You can pretty much reproduce everything you want -as long- as you do not make a profit from it and/or hide the fact it was someone else's work to begin with. Also, the moment something becomes public domain, you're pretty much free to go - especially if it's just for a harmless forum avatar.. You technically only need to name the file appropriately to give credit to its owner and you can do what you want as I recall (ModifiedMurmina_AgarestWar_AksysGame.jpg for example)

Just looking at the Amia portrait pack shows the stance on copying pictures is not that harsh :)

It's still rather offensive to any artists out there. Trace it yourself!

It's not offensive to ask for it... Let me rephrase on Mushi's behalf, so that you copyright-worriers are appeased: "Could an artist please create their own impression of the above, with the mentioned changes?"

Also a good free software to do such stuff is Gimp. Very similar to photoshop.
Changing the hue should be fairly easy and there are tutorials also.

I could probably give it a try, but I see Tom has already done it? :)

A friend of Tom did, thanks a lot to both too! :)

The thread can be locked ^^

PS: To all of you offended people, if you wish to war against copyright issues, I suggest you go flame on the portrait thread instead.. (lol) Or you can always open up a discussion thread somewhere on that subject.
