The Doombringer's Hand
Mission Statement
We are the justicars of Hoar, our existence is an extension of a justice that transcends the trappings of paper laws. We adhere to the principle that the punishment is befitting of the crime, and to ensure that justice is upheld in such a fashion. This principle can be simplified to the term of vengeance, and we are the women and men who will administer it when a party is unable to. Injustices are suffered every day, by people of every background; clerics, nobles, peasants, and warriors. We will provide an ear for all who have experienced grievances of whom number a great many, should their plea be found rightful of pursuit we will then act as the Hand of Fate on their behalf in honor of the Lord of Vengeance.
Steps to ensure this occurs:
- We will create a temple where our ears may always be reached. - We will actively go among the community to hear their grievances. - We will actively seek injustices. - We will seek to broaden the base of the faith.
Goals
Long term:
- Become the ear to all who seek retribution. Meaning we aim to become the judge that the troubled may set their case to for fitting reconciliation. - Alter the atmosphere of justice on Amia to the standard Hoar has set, so that the repeat of offense is curbed. When crime is matched with a punishment of equal gravity a clear message is sent, without adequate response to injustices further attacks are invited. - Hoar's church is actively contesting among itself, there are currently 3 church centers who vie for the chief authority in the faith. We will aim to become the 4th, and ultimate authority in the mortal realm. | Short term:
- Create a temple and establish a base of operations. - Acquire connections with information agencies and organizations around the island to keep actively informed on sufferings that happen around our island. - Equip ourselves to deal with all injustices both great and small. - Ease relations between the church and the citizenry of Cordor for the sake of better assisting them, and enlightening the faith's purpose. - Obtain materials for the temple's construction - Obtain architect blueprints for temple's design* - Expand relations with factions that align with the church of Hoar** |
Structure
While currently structure is of little import it may become more relevant as the faction expands and difficult decisions may need to be adamantly determined. This may be expanded to branches of intrigue, information, and enactment, each with their own leaders and agendas within the faith. Currently however we will focus on delineating objectives and goals throughout the faithful and ardently working to their completion as an organization. As it stands all of the faith will serve as both judges and executioners of fitting justice, in whatever capacity is necessary. Leadership is relevant in so far as a need to give direction and provide a permanently pushing force behind the faction on both an OOC and IC level.
How we fit into the server
We bring to the table the ability for people to bring their problems with hope of resolution. Be it personally, for a friend of theirs, or for even greater injustices. We will be able to, and encouraged to operate across all of Amia, unbound to a specific location despite our desire for a centralized location. We will be the sword for the Davids in a world teeming with Goliaths. I will actively work with other factions and players to both generate role play and jobs for all parties interested.
Slipping into the faction
Though only markedly important due to the variety of play styles in each particular alignment Hoar works primarily in all non-chaotic alignments. Though his incredibly devout fall into the Lawful alignments, as they have a very rigid code they uphold and following that code helps them avoid falling from grace when the subject matter is vengeance, and often results in execution or other markedly harsh punishments.
Those who often find themselves in the service of Hoar range from bounty hunters and vigilantes to bards and crusaders. This variety shows the many methods in which they attempt to set about the faith's dogma in the realm, both by tales of poetic justice to curb crimes against the people to violent retribution when it's demanded.
As a new character who may want to join in from the bottom as we carve out our chunk of Amia there are a few story avenues that immediately come to mind. They could be a part of the initial expedition that left the war-torn nation of Sembia (Just south of the one northern temple of Hoar, the Hidden Hand of Fate temple), they may be a convert or devout who was picked up on the voyage from Sembia, and finally they may be a soul who stood up alongside the arrival of their sisters and brothers on the shores of Amia as the crusade begins.
As an existing character there will be numerous and frequent missives set about the island claiming the arrival and calling templars to the faith.
Why this faction?
There will be an experimental side to this faction where I will work with other faction leaders and players to create OOC framework for facilitation of role play, be it clandestine meetings or bitter struggles stemming from opposing objectives and ideologies. This will be a constant stream of content for other parties involved and most importantly for the Hoarite church. These designs will not necessarily be entirely scripted, but the initialization may require some OOC management of details, to set the kindling, and light the flame. After that the pieces will fall where they may, optimally. Again this is an experimental side of the faction. Based on past experience this has worked very well at both creating content and opening lines of communication between groups so that events can be concocted and set into motion for player enjoyment simply through minimal framework construction and collaboration! It is also worth noting that this faction will be extremely objective focused. We will always have things to work towards in the game world both large and small. I will aim to keep this fluid and up to date
A note on time
I will dedicate 8-14hrs in game time per week to this faction, circumstances may alter the amount of time but there should be no less than that much exerted on my own behalf. This does not include time spent working on the forums and communicating with other players for continued activity.
