Is there a reason why the shade lord has a bunch of wizard levels but only 10 intelligence? Is there any possibility of it being updated? |

I imagine to keep it's AB and number of attacks down. |

It's due to balance concerns regarding it's ability drain attack. The wizard levels were a placeholder for a 1/2 BAB class, the 10 Int is so that it cannot utilize spells. Only 2 attacks were permissible due to how quickly it could otherwise drain an enemy. The Epic Shade lord is different, but that requires a different amount of investment.  Edit: Dangit Rigs, you ninja'd me!

I meant the Epic Shade Lord. It's bizarre that it is wizard rather than undead for the 1/2 bab. |

The epic shade lord is an outsider, not an undead. That could be why. |

The [Epic] Shade Lord isn't undead, so why would we make it so? |

Canonically the shades that our Shadowdancers summon aren't undead. So It was likely done to prevent confusion with a misnomer! EDIT: I keep getting ninja'd... O.o |

The Shadow Conjuration, Greater Shadow Conjuration and Shades summons are undead, indeed. |
