Your game journal is just a text file with the same name as your character. You can edit it in any text editor to add text to it in game. By that same token, if the filename ofyour pc changes, or if you for whatever reason lose that pc file due to a reinstall or what have you, your journal will he emtpy. |

It is also kept on your local computer under NWN/localvault. I erased mine once by accident when I cleaned old characters out of that folder. So you can look in there, find the old one and give it the same name as your new PC name. Should work fine. |

A great thing to do is to make shortcuts to the file on your desktop so you can easily alter it outside the game - copy/pasting info from the web, pdfs, etc. |
