So, let me start out that I'm not going to state any names, who did what, and why. All I will say is their alignment, my alignment, and the minimal details in question. I won't even say which character I was on (though it's not hard if you know my login and who I've been playing as of late) but we need to have a chat on playing our alignment, IMO.
So, a certain character I encountered tonight was acting odd. Not doing things they usually do, and denying certain things of my character that I feel are a little out of place for that character. They also, ICly, threatened to do things that are -extremely- NE. They're NG, as they told me when I asked them because I thought it was a little odd for someone who I had judged as NG to be saying the things they said. The things they said they were doing were pretty goddamn evil. When I said this to them, they said something along the lines of 'saying and doing are two different monsters'. That was their defense. Granted, I totally understand why they're doing it, and because I shortly left to go fume elsewhere I have no idea if they followed through with it, I still think that a NG wouldn't even think of these pretty horrible things. CG, maybe, they're chaotic and unpredictable, but even then, that's a fairly loose argument.
Now, I believe there are situations where your alignment can shift, deliberately and otherwise. For example, my NE character is making an effort to be a better person, so as to qualify for another god, and that could shift me towards NN, LN, even NG if I go far enough with this (under DM supervision, of course). This attempt could go anywhere.
What are your thoughts? I'd like to know what you guys think, and I'd love to see this thread keep its policy of not telling who your character is and what they do, only alignments. It'll keep things friendly. <3
