1. Environmental damage doesn't occur from spells unless a DM is present and specifically says what damage occurs. You don't get to just override the "DM must be present" part of this. Many DM's have stated this. You don't get to just blow up parts of the island, and you don't get to pretend someone else did, unless a DM says environmental damage has occurred. I will get a DM to set you straight, if you try to ignore this (or any other!) rule. 2. Threats made to stick your sword in someone's guts are grounds for pvp. You just told them you're going to eviscerate them. Expect consequences. This is alluded to in the rules, and recent DM rulings confirm it. Don't threaten to kill someone and expect much of an "out". Your "out" might be "If you don't leave now, I'm going to kill you," or it might just be a brief exchange IC and then pvp. You're the one that started the hostilities. Made your bed, now sleep in it. 3. Buffing is also a prelude to pvp in any potentially hostile situation - this is even directly in the rules. 4. (this one is directed at me.) Sending takes 10 minutes to cast. (Damn myself, remember!) 5. Nobody is obligated to post an emote about casting a spell as a prelude to pvp. PvP requires some kind of an "out" if possible, and requires initiation by both parties - someone threatening the other and/or buffing, is a prelude to pvp, for example. You don't have to post an emote explaining your handsigns to cast a spell. Just cast the spell. There's no rule saying you have to emote what you do in pvp. That's flavor, and entirely up to the individual to decide. Personally, do not expect me to do this. 6. Don't get butthurt about pvp and remain salty for 6 hours and thus cause drama that negatively affects others OOCly and impacts their day. That's just stupid, you're not 5 years old, act like an adult. A lot of shenanigans happened and people decided to make a dramallama out of it, instead of read the rules, understand them, and then talk calmly about it. People instead got butthurt, accusations got thrown around, and lies started forming (or "faulty memory", we'll call it,) to implicate other people in ways that didn't need to happen. Nobody is being directly mentioned here, except myself for the one fuckup I made today, but come on. The most important part here is "don't be a dickbag." That's all that needed to happen today in order to not make it shitty for me and a couple other players. Thanks for your time. |

Good points, for the most part. But should remove the dirty laundry part. That's usually frowned upon. |

remember that 'resting' is included alongside 'warding' in the rules. if a fight might be brewing, don't rest, because people can jump on you as if you cast epic magic armor. |

Here just in case Quote: 7. If you do not give the other party time to observe the usual protocol, you can't expect them to stick to the protocol. This means that by resting, buffing or other such preperations to hostility, you forfeit your right to a warning: The other party may attack you immediately to stop you. If you have not set them to Hostile before, you can't blame them for having to act without it. Both parties should strive to set eachother to Hostile after the immediate reaction, however. Also Quote: 11. If you clearly escape scene, you may not continue the ”same” PvP later, unless such behaviour is explicitly agreed by all involved parties. It is a new encounter with all the above rules. Parties may agree to a "mutual aggression" pact, where it is agreed that hostilities may commence whenever these parties interact. This must be supported by previous role-play, and is generally done when two factions (such as drow houses) have on going IC disputes that end in hostilities. It is the responsibility of the faction leaders to make sure everyone involved knows about the situation. Should this be the case, please inform the DMs about this in advance so that they know what is going on. You should still give someone an out. This is as simple as saying "Get out/stop that/fuck off - or I kill you." So make sure the other party KNOWS whats on the line; if you're ready to throw down, make sure you let them know you are ready to throw down. |

I would appreciate if people would refrain from making it known who was present (even yourselves), this is not a witch hunt, this is mostly just a review of server rules that would've prevented everything from happening today. I mentioned myself in the OP simply because I'm trying to show that I'm not trying to blame others for everything, I know I'm not perfect either. We do not, however, need to grow a list of who was where and did what. This isn't a discussion thread. I'm not angry at anyone either. Let's just all try to follow rules closer from now on. |

From recent experiences elsewhere, if someone wants drama, ignore them, log out asap and take a coffee break or something. Unless you realize you did something wrong, then don't be a douchebag about it. |

MisterLich wrote: fuckup "don't be a dickbag." shitty. Oh my gawd, mind your language! Yeah, you're right. I was also killed in pvp (well, not me, my characters) and I was quite salty about it, but I didn't talk about it with any player, just went outside for few hours and returned to game with clear head and felt nothing bad against the played who killed me (well, not me, my characters). |

I only get mad if my character thinks the person who killed him is unattractive |

Quote: 4. (this one is directed at me.) Sending takes 10 minutes to cast. (Damn myself, remember!) Aside from the ten minutes rule, pnp rules apply, thus you need the approval of the players if there is no DM around. Also, never use sending for pvp. There is a reason why we banned the use of "sending" items. |

Know your pvp munchkins builders and avoid them as much as possible oocly and icly and I find this avoids the "butthurt" feelings that come from being exposed to token rp to make the imposition of ihasepixandexcelefficientpvpbuildwin pvp legal. However as this server is in denial that such people and builds exist forget I said anything, Eirmund will be on hand to rub salve on any remaining butthurt and can be found at the Salandran hospital when not on active patrol. |

Just because you dislike a player doesn't mean you can ignore their character. You've got to separate OOC issues, and keep it away from the game. That's how a lot of issues start. |

I'm not pointing fingers at any player or character but to deny that these kinds of players and characters exist is disingenuous. That's how a lot of issues start. It's not so much about disliking a player, and more about how so many pvpers masquerade here as rpers and who calculate the most killy builds out side of any in game justification for it, one even claimed they used excel to work out the most dps for their various builds. This is hardly unique to Amia, many gamers use external programs to get the most out of the mmo they are playing. But Amia is supposed to be more about interesting and engaging role play just like when you are pnping with your friends at home. Pvp monsters just tend to invalidate the rp of other characters and make those players feel disenfranchised on a server that already caters to an ever decreasing cadre of hardcore players who are able to solo grind so much top epic gear that they literally cant carry anymore on top of all their DC items that are no longer approved for younger accounts etc. Naivatkal wrote: Found Vital Touch's alt account. Hardly, that player is an IC friend and mentor to Eirmund and naturally there has been much OOC chat between me and her out of game discussing various things, but I will pass on your stalker like regards P.S. I thought these sorts of threads were against the forum rules anyway? You know IC stuff happens leading to forum rant/monologue about how the poster is right and the unnamed "butthurt" person is wrong, but the unnamed can't retort or rebut the poster's comments because that would be a violation of the forum rules paradox kind of thing? |

This is aiding PCs in knowing what to do / not to do in pvp. The poster(s) know that posting specific names e.t.c will be an issue. But there are no rules to posting PvP rules, and clarifications for future means. It is actually good to see. |

This started OK, but now you're all acting like children, so it's time to put the toys away. Misterlich - thanks for apologizing. Don't make this thread again. Infinitymatrix - don't be a dick. Naiv - don't be a dick. Commie - don't be a dick. All done here, I think. |
