| Post subject: | Eurgiga's Head Shop Redux |
Welcome my friends and DolphinRacer, welcome to another edition of "Eurgiga shamelessly farms you for ideas without giving you credit for your input"! In this edition, I am making heads (again). As you may recall, I made a headpack some years ago when I was rather new to the modeling process. Now that I've got several releases and a great deal of experience under my belt, I am revisiting heads in order to produce a head pack consistent with my expectations of quality. As I received many suggestions before, I would like to extend this opportunity to the Amian community to make suggestions as to what heads will go in. While I intend my work to benefit the NWN community at large, I think you guys can probably provide better (and more) input than I'd get, say, on the Vault forums. Before I get into the meat of this post, I need to make a few things clear: Quote:
2. I will not make heads with so many "quirks" as to drastically limit their use. A missing eye, mismatched ears, half a beard and a two-foot mohawk, while awesome, would make a head practically unusable by the general playerbase. Please try to keep requests general enough that they can be used for a variety of concepts. 3. The heads will probably be about half "pretty" heads, spread amongst races that lack them, and half (or more) "ugly" heads, as NWN needs good ugly heads. Human Female will almost certainly not be getting many "pretty" heads aside from those incidentally created in the process of providing other races with such heads. 4. This headpack will be released on the Neverwinter Vault. I have decided to begin releasing all content I have worked on with no outside assistance to the NWN community at large that it may serve the playerbase as a whole and perhaps keep it around a little longer. 5. As I am freelance, I reserve the right to accept, reject, modify, or mercilessly mock suggestions according to my judgement, intuition, a magic 8-ball, or really any selection mechanism I feel like. I kid, I won't actually mock anyone except Taelar. 6. I make no promises. The content creation pipeline has a habit of breaking down in unexpected and maddening ways, and it's entirely possible that a head may simply refuse to export, texture, or just explode the game on selection. If it works, hooray. If not, sorry. 7. This thread is for heads. I will only accept head requests in this thread. Non-head requests will not be accepted, neither in this thread or if sent via private message. 8. Do not PM me about this unless A) You are a staff member trying to coordinate content with me, or B) I have asked you to PM me about it, either in this thread, Skype, or by PMing you myself. While I'm certain you're all lovely people (or at least won't make a scene at Denny's), it does not help anyone to split up requests into different places where only some people can see some of them. With that out of the way, it's time for another list (I can taste your excitement)! Here's the kind of stuff I'm particularly interested in making this time around, so requests falling under these categories have a significantly higher chance of being made: Quote:
2. Monster heads to represent humanoid races not currently representable with dynamic models. Examples from the previous pack include the Minotaur, Dragonborn and Were-Crocodile/Feral Lizardman heads (click head name for a picture). 3. Elementals/Genasi, especially para- and quasi-elemental varieties. 4. Steampunk/Clockwork, because I feel like doing some steampunk. *Note for Amia: Given prior content history, I would not expect these to be approved for addition to your content, though it will still be available on the Vault. I can, of course, be wrong. What else can you do to improve the chances I'll make your request? "Another list!" I hear you say? Quote:
2. If the head you're looking at is in a game, mod for a game, or otherwise has a textured 3d model, providing a link to the model and texture, mod, or otherwise giving me a way to get my hands on it helps massively, as I can use the existing texture and some of the geometry. I HIGHLY suggest having a poke about on this website (click for link) for things you might like to see, as I can get the models from there easily. 3. If you cannot find a picture or model that looks like what you'd like, then please provide as detailed a description as you can, with any pictures you can find to illustrate any unusual (outside the standard races) features if possible (example: If your head has a certain sort of jagged scales, find a picture of jagged scales that look like what you're thinking). You do not need to include any or all of those things in your request, However, the more you can provide the easier it makes things for me, resultantly improving the odds I'll give it a shot. I highly encourage all submissions, including those outside the groups I'm focusing on. If you throw out something too good to ignore, I may just take it on. There is no anticipated timetable for this release, so please don't ask. Happy posting! |

I don't have a specific head request just some suggestions. One thing I like is when a head has several versions, such as human male 168, 175, and 176. With the recent dragon resurgence it would be cool to see options of normal heads + eyepatch version + horned version. Also female elf head 136 is crazy popular. Options in that vein to mix up far and away the most commonly used head might be good. I know you don't want more pretty heads but it's so common i wish some alternatives existed to shake it up. Heads with shit in their hair you can re-color. The dwarf heads with beard ornaments, and the female head with hair flowers are good examples. Face scars colorable with tattoos. Heterochromia options, would be good with beforementioned scars (eg scar across eye, head has eye color separately controlled by tat color 1 and 2) |

A Male Air Genasi head to complete the set of 4 female genasi heads and 3 male genasi heads would be good. |

I am pretty fond of the beast heads personally. They allow me as a DM to get crafty with mobs. |

More than likely there will be a full set of new Genasi heads, I'm rather unhappy with many of the first batch and would very much like to provide better alternatives. I'd really like to try to figure out common features between large groups of genasi or similar-looking races so I can cover as many things as possible with flexible options. For example, I think Air, Smoke, and Fire genasi are likely to share similar hair, eyes, and other features. Suggestions in that vein would be much appreciated. |

However, I can't reeeeally guess what you might be thinking with such a vague prompt. If there's something you've got in mind I'm all ears. |

Not ragging on or judging at all, because I actually like the first batch of halfdragon/DD heads, just not for my current draconic character. There any chance this ground-up return to the drawing board includes a new set of draconic heads? <_< I couldn't for the life of me tell why, but the current ones just don't feel like ones I want to have at all. |

Awesome to have you back Eurgiga. Fancy working on more dorf heads? I have also noticed a need for male svirfneblin heads, as there is only one decent bald gnome head which works for the little hairless buggers. |

I am afraid I must issue a correction that I am not "back", but rather am submitting content to the Vault and am giving Amia an early shot at content suggestions, hence this thread. I should dispel any notions early and fully that I am focusing exclusively on content for any one server. I would like to do some better dwarf heads, and it's likely a few will come out. #StraightOutaAvernus wrote: Not ragging on or judging at all, because I actually like the first batch of halfdragon/DD heads, just not for my current draconic character.
