I know that the server ignored 4.0, which was a good call.
However there are somethings in 5.0 that are pretty neat. Are we ignoring that here as well?

Lore wise mostly, yes, because it still is connected to the events of 4.0.
When it comes to PrC, races, etc, we sometimes steal stuff though and use it. We do with Pathfinder too, actually. Case by case thing.

Mainly when it comes to the Drow. They brought back all the dead drow gods, including my favorite Vhaeraun.
And of course in 5th ed, Vhaeraun and Eilistraee are neutral to each other. Mainly I like how they made things more of a grey area where diety relations are concerned.

vhaeraun is alive, that isnt what hes talking about, hes talking about the different relationship; vhaeraun and elistraee have in 5.0 compared to 3.5 currently in 3.5 vhaeraun and elistraee are very much enemies. after their merge then seperation in 5.0 they are more neutral toward each other, different means to the same ends.

5e is largely irrelevant to us because it mostly just undoes the stuff from 4e - but we sort of never really did 4e to begin with, so.

Assume that the gods are all as they are in 3.5 and not 5th edition and you should be safe. When in doubt read the amia wiki entry for reference and failing that get the 3.5 forgotten realms books and give them a look.

Yup. So not all gods in the idol system are alive. Examples of this are Myrkul, Moander, in general a lot of the newer ones. In gemeral, it is assumed clerics get their powers either from the little rests that still have tiny amounts of power.
Myrkul: Cyric, most likely, or the crown thing. Moander: Lolth, most likely.
Stuff like that. I think there are very few exceptions to the rule, like Salandra, The Rider Beyond, (Jergal?), Bane's story is difficult, usually, I think, and a few cases where there is more story behind the deities, like Orcus.
