I keep hearing about the glory days of having the Banite faction rolling through town. Now, I personally know little about Banites, other than what I can read on the Wiki, which, is not much to be honest.

They sound very subservient, as in, they all believe they owe their very existence to Bane and will do nearly anything if they feel he is served by it. That alone makes them odd to me. No one person has any power at all, and it feels like they all need to check with superiors before doing anything.

Please, please someone explain Banites more to me? I'm curious to see an uprising of an evil faction and perhaps Bane is the ticket.

I also think Cyric would be interesting, for the intrigue part, though Cyric is quite insane. Mask is also interesting, but to me lacks some amount of interest unless you're a thieve's guild.

Anyone? Opinion? Thoughts?

After further reading, it really feels like Asmodeus would be an awesome new cult. Strategy, political corruption and intrigue.... coupled with seduction and an "eye for an eye" attitude.

Thoughts?

Anything can work with the right dedication and mindset, and ultimately leadership.

Imagine a very strong leader, weilding the power of Bane for themself, leading an army to influence politics of a region through tyranny or a takeover, with the idea of eventually giving the world entirely to Bane. His rule is inevitable, we would say. 'Superiors' are a very important part of the Banite culture, when the server was flush with them, we each had ranks instead of names we'd refer to eachother as. Having a mentor was an interesting avenue of RP that always gave people something to do. It's not for everyone, but if you were there, and took it seriously it was insanely immersive and rewarding.. and the leaders always made sure there was something to do, without DM's, or with. Oh, there is devils irony in the matter when you consider the reception we got from both the DM's and the players at the time, and what that reception did to the faction. Now you have people missing it, when before we were server enemy #1.... but like just about everything else in life, people don't know what they have until they miss it.

From what i remember from the old banites, is that yes there was a strong hiargy but that was only there because those above you in rank simply had the power or means to crush those below them.

The leader was "chosen" by bane, pure because he was the strongest/had the strongest will to carry out bane's will
Do note this did not mean bane directed them in every move, but he did watch and if a leader failed.. he was killed by bane.

Also they had extremly lot of infighting by lower in rankt, attempting to bring down one higher to rise themself

For the best view take a combination between a darth Sith and his pupil and Colours of magic, the unseen university, and combine how they rise in rank/power

Even when my characters despised the Banites, I loved them!

RaveN, we can do it! We can bring them back! >8U

I remember saying that Nazara reminded me a bit of Xena!! I don't know why, but if there is any resemblence then yes Naiv, you and her have a chance!! :)

Banites are generally fun thingies that love law. You obey and that is that! Zhentil keep has a ton of Banites and if I remember correctly they made deals with others in order to fight common enemies, such as Drow(who are a natural enemy to Bane since they love Chaos).

There is a lot of potential with Banites, but they need support if they are going to last on Amia. More often than not people play them for a short "fling" and that is that.

My dealings with Banites has been mixed. If played well they can be a lot of fun but sometimes they veer into the territory of My Dad Can Beat Up Your Dad. Kuria had a few issues with them years ago because her ego and theirs don't mix well. Nobody ended up in the bay but it got close. She socked him in the nose and he got mad and threatened to involve his friends so she told her friends over drinks about the whole thing and then they all disappeared.

My advice is if you want to see some bad-ass banites, be them. It has to start somewhere and I don't think it will necessarily be easy but if you can do it and do it well you'll be well received. Especially now that the era of frivolous tarkuul bans is over.
