Just as the title says... monks get Shuriken as a standard weapon to use, but... they don't follow the monk AB progression. Being that shuriken are arguably the weakest ranged weapon in the game (d2 damage and no mighty), this could make them quite a bit more useful. Granted, this only affects monks, and thus is probably a low priority, but I thought I'd mention it since it makes items that already exist more useful and more desirable for their intended users.
Thanks.

I am supportive of this, however I'd like to know when it would stop, all of the following are monk weapons: club, dagger, handaxe, light crossbow, heavy crossbow, quarterstaff, shuriken, kama, and sling. Seeing how it only takes a single level to get the BAB, and we've seen what quarterstaff can do for monks already I'm a bit intrigued what the answer is to this.

I'd limit the monk BAB progression addition only to melee weapons and shuriken. Shuriken can be thrown fast, but a monk making like a machinegun with a crossbow or sling would be ridiculous, not to mention game breaking. A guy who can outrun you even when your hasted, who's getting 5-8 attacks per round with a high-damage ranged weapon, and potentially nearly immune to magic would wreck pretty much everything.

I agree... just kama, quarterstaff and shuriken, as well as unarmed.

It was in before, but it broke the server somehow from what I recall.

Yep. Weird junk started happening all around when we had it. I'm not sure why, or whether or not it was something we could fix.

The server just fell apart, from what I recall, essentially.

This isn' workable, sorry. Was in before and it tore the server asunder under a storm of shuriken.

Yes. We tried it for a while alongside the quarterstaff change, and it caused constant server crashes. Not possible, I'm afraid.

LaughingMonkAAs.jpg But yeh. I'd agree with this normally. Shame it's server breaking. Was it a code issue? Or did the framerate get overloaded?

I tried making ubab work for ranged weapons but the behavior of the different weapons branch off throughout the combat engine which makes it really obscure what goes where and what happens. Marking weapons as being ubab-able is trivial, the real crashbugs as far as I saw is in flurry of blows. It was a long time ago though, pretty sure it'd be ok to just do melee weapons ubabable rather then obscure hooks to try and get flurry of blows to work with throwing weapons. Code; https://github.com/TerrahKitsune/NWNX/b ... NXUbab.cpp

I think I was one of the ones breaking the server with that as I played a monk assassin that used shurikens pretty much exclusively.
I also think they're stupidly powerful in the right hands if given UBAB progression. So even if they could get it to work, I think they shouldn't.

It makes sense from a lore perspective, but I could build something absolutely disgusting with shurikens having the monk UBAB progression. Probably best that it just doesn't happen.
