There are currently several "death touch-y" type of class-related attacks, all based around the original martial arts movie staple, Quivering Palm. However, QP is by far the worst of the lot despite being pretty demanding and overall awful. It might be a good idea to revisit and rebalance some of this stuff.

QP is at a huge disadvantage vs the Arcane Archer/Assassin/Palemaster death touch analogs and comes out 5 DC behind these analogs with the same build investments. No matter how made for QP you build for, you'll always be 5 behind against similar builds using these other classes. Sacrificing AB and damage and slogging it out for 30 levels for a 39 or 40 QP DC when every monster sports +38 fort saves knowing that the other guys at least would have a +5 leg up on you is a bit off.

Not only this, but you'll never ever succeed against level 30 (and over) characters and monsters. Plus you'll fail if you deal no damage (no such caveat for those other guys). You'll fail against anything immune to criticals (again, ditto). For the record, pretty much every monster you would want to use it on at level 30 is going to be above level 30. And I don't "just" mean Epic Bosses. I mean yard trash monsters like yetis, virago, fey, sahaguin, etc). Tossing QPs at anything in epic areas gives you the server equivalent of Nelson's point and laugh response from the server.

Mind you, you've invested heavily into a MAD supporting class and it's quaternary stat (not secondary, not tertiary... quaternary).

You can literally build for DC 43 Death Touches and give up nothing because the stat investment isn't even MAD (Palemaster) or the class features themselves lend it to being perfectly overly competitive even if you do something like make an INT based AA for max DC (who cares if you don't buy dex when enchant arrow gives you 45+ AB and bonus damage anyways?). Even my assassin (which is an overbalanced class with *all* the toys) managed a 39 Murder DC and that was with a modicum of INT investment at level 1 + some INT rings at level 30.

At the moment, QP is buyer beware.

Full support of the above. I don't think I've ever used QP in all the years, as it's completely useless atm. for above listed reasons.

While I agree it needs changing, I saw an absurdly good use of QP in a DM event. Easily an Amia highlight for me.

The only good use of QP is using its charge for Ki Shout.

To bad its hardcoded. I could probably figure out where it lives though.

Funny (and sad) story, if you build to get QP, you won't even get Ki Shout for some reason. (Monk 15 vs 16, sad trombone)

If something cannot be upped, than maybe other things should be "adjusted." As much as I hate that idea, fist-monk is utter garbage (for many more reasons than just QP) and it's sad that classes with better performing death touches have lower requirements as afterthoughts (with even more useful class feats and capstones) pull it off better than the demanding capstone of the monk class. :?
