Coming soon-ish*:
-Removing Vilrath Forums (Overdue. ^^; On the plus side, there is all this extra time for archiving what you guys want to keep!)

-Lolarox Forums (Finally, and also overdue. I am so sorry guys.)

-Vanguard Forums (No longer need to censor what general eyes would otherwise not see. Not that I haven't grown fond of the mass PMs, but you guys are a faction.)

-Addition of a ferry system to Nec'perya. (Speed of those who can add such things to the Module)

-Clearing of the Guard towers around the city as well as Vanguard HQ (Yay for updates and upgrades!)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*"ish" is a relative term in regards to time and space. I do not know when these will happen specifically, but I wished to inform you guys that these things are not forgotten and in the works!
Sounds good, Dusts. With our recently inflated numbers, Ussen d'Vhid may need a private abode too, in the future!
Yup! I am tracking UdV's activity. Let me know when a house location is settled on and we will work on it RP wise. Last map I saw highlighted a desire for a compound.
Please keep in mind that due to the change of setting (namely being on an island without sides sharing a wall) the same variety of super-compound you guys once had in Edonil would be impossible to reproduce. I only bring that up now so that it can't be said I never did. I know how ambitious you guys are! ;)
Also, as a general heads up/commentary for all of the planning maps I have been seeing as of late: You guys have a large NPC populace that has to live somewhere. You can't simply repurpose their living spaces unless you have some place to move them to.
Can Genar_Detkasa(Is the commander), Travis(Second in command), Shroud(Third in command), naivatkal(The high priestess) and myself(Le scribe) be made moderators in the Vanguard Forums?
And can the same moderator powers be given all Lolarox members in Lolarox forums?
It's easier that way and helps micro managing everything :)
Third in command!? Nonsense. On that note, I don't see any Vanguard forum anywhere.
I have been a little inactive lately due to a variety of reasons, but I'm looking to get more things done IC soon enough.
Make it public but restrict access: It actually attract people when they see x faction have a forum.
I'll see it modified ASAP!
Edit: Done. All 3 forums are now visible from 'Towns and Places of Amia'.
Still keeping them locked as the point of them is for each faction to have their own information away from general prying eyes.
A question about deities: how strictly does Amia follow the "general storyline" provided by rulebooks, editions etc. considering deities? I tried to create a priestess of Kiaransalee the other day (I know she is dead according to http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com/wiki/Kiaransalee) but all my spells and prayers remained unheard.
If Amia follows the rulebooks, I suggest removing the dead deities from the deity list, as they probably won't have an idol or followers either? There's no point having people creating characters for deities that don't exist.
Edit: Oh and the reason this is in the UD forum is because this would leave the drow players with only one god to follow.
Kiaransalee, Vhaeraun, Ghaunadaur, Eilistraee and Selvetarm are all still alive and kicking.
I believe we follow canon lore only up until before or after the destruction of Ched Nasad, I'm uncertain to which.
I don't see any benefit to having faction forums visible (even if unaccessible) to non-faction members. Kind of just lets you know how active they are if you're not a part of them (which is OOC information)
The premise behind the idea of having forums visible (specifically the Vanguard on in this case) is to alert players to its actual existence and in theory the increased awareness of the factions would have a positive effect of making players who might otherwise be less involved become more involved to gain access and be a part of those things.
Will it actually work? No idea, kind of hard to know even after if it is, but actually knowing what faction forums are around is in general nice and a good way to then know what factions are around even on the forums. Also no one really cares how active you are on your forum needled, you almost make it sound like you think its some big threat of people metagaming, there is less substance to that worry than there is to people just doing "worse" by checking what players/characters are online and how often.
I stand behind this argument! Very good equalizer :)
I proposed the same for the Office of Tarkuul and they have seen a mild boost in activity there.
I have no issues with the vanguard forum being visible, since that's a somewhat public organization. That's why I mentioned faction forums. For those specifically, having others able to see them is not beneficial to the faction.
I didn't get it at first and then I remembered how much of a pain it is for spy characters who do occasionally deal with people either intentionally or unintentionally treating them differently IC with the knowledge that they're active on certain forums. Particularly if they're only known for playing a single PC.
They are all currently invisible unless you have access. Vanguard one should be made visible, I personally like house ones being visible too (if nothing else since it is nice to know which factions currently actually have them especially is another house then wants to request one later or if on faction dies off then it makes having the faction forum removal go more quickly.) but really if the faction really has some reason they want it invisible then that fine too, it isn't a big issue either way.
We DMs can see all faction forums, so trashing old/unused subforums goes equally as fast for us. Visibility to the player base I leave up to the discretion of the moderators of the 3 sub forums. They can let me know their wishes and I will edit or not edit who can see they exist accordingly.
I talked with someone about my idea a couple of months ago, and now having returned to the UD with the inent to stick to it, it is something I would like to begin to work on. The basic idea is that we create an anual or bi-anual player run alt-begining endeavor. It would be aimed first and foremost at those players who might be interrested in drow rp, and do not yet have a character. But many of the events would not restricted to only them.
The general summary is that it would mainly be oriented at the "academy life" period (quotation as we do not have true academies atm.) of the new players, be they warriors, wizards or clergy. Those already involved in drow would work on creating a semester of sorts. There would be a focus on martial, arcane and divine lessons for the respective branches, but a lot of lessons would be done together, and given the size and current state of Nec'perya, it would make sense.
The priestess characters would run the lessons on faith and history, such as holding lectures on the teachings of lolth, the betrayl of the wicked elves of the surface during the crown war, propaganda against the svirvneblin and duergar, etc. Ceremonies as well, with the blooding and graduation being two central events. The leaders of the Vanguard could hold lectures on drow tactics, fighting, and defending yourself against the arcane. Tournaments and competitions could be hosted.
And all the while, the new characters can be introduced to the plots and usual affairs of the city, to participate in those as well.
back in ultrinnan there were frequent temple lessons dealing in religious matters and politics and history and all that jazz.
first, it helped the hosts practice
second, it was a reminder for the more experienced players and something for them to get involved
third, it educated new drow players on the 'norms' without needing to go ooc
fourth, it was something that just should be done.
isen actually led a lesson in 'intimate interrogation' being in short, how to deal the most pain possible without killing your victim while extracting confessions.
If you want to organize something like this, you have my full support. I would suggest opening it up to everyone who wants to lecture, otherwise we might get in the groove of one person taking over and everyone else being talked at. All priestesses should know the material well enough to teach it, after all.
Isen would be willing to give a lecture on signs of heresy as well ;p
Ideally, I think would be if we would have three to five characters who oversee it. Simply so they can effectivly prepare the academy life events together. Those who would like to get involved additionally in the teaching aspect can be staff of those group of characters, and host their own extra lessons and events. Which is great, as the more events we have, the more interresting roleplay we can create. Hopefully, and if successful, those who were students the first events around, would partly be teachers the next.
Both Nec'perya and L'Obsul lend themselves well to the concept.
Also, as a heads up, I have a new toy for folks permitted in Nec'perya. It is a patrol chip against the Skum. Feel free to poke me for it in game as it -should- effect spawn refresh rates in a meaningful way every Reset if you patrol the lower ring in groups.
Surprise surprise. Guess what part of Nec'perya has just been updated. 8)
EDIT: So far my one criticism would be the spell targets right next to the bookshelves. :? Otherwise, looking good. Some of the stuff we've planned to put in hasn't been added, but, hrmm. Nothing we can plan around I suppose!
Seems there are a few kinks to work out with the new area, but nothing that can't be handled.
RE: Forums Visibility
I was not aware that the decision to make them visible to all was supported by any of the three group leaders with subforums. Is this the case?
What? No. In Lolarox we voted visible because we are democratic like that. Wwe have also had lengthy discussions on skype about the vanguard, too. The consensus was that we wanted them to be visible.
Both of the forums
honestly, and i might be a minority, but i find it a pain when faction forums that I don't have access to are visible because I can never remove the 'unread message' thing from it, or the underdark forum.
It's really a minor nuisance but yes; We are aware. The main reason for them to be visible is for advertisement - We want to signal to other players that we are here and that we exist.
Just as an FYI you can click the "mark forums read" button at the top of the parent forum and it will mark everything as read, even for the subforums of that parent forum that you don't have access to. It makes not having access but seeing it less of an issue if it showing that it has unread threads really bothers you.
My darling beagle girl managed to break the just recently repaired powerjack of my laptop. So I will be restricted to the forum for a while.
With the quarantine in effect, is the sacrifice of the Sun Elf on hold then? I need some clarification from the faction leaders on orders given to the guards to enforce the quarantine as well as what events (if any) are still scheduled to take place while it is active.
The Vanguard forums should now be visible to all, but the group is still closed, meaning you need to add members manually.
