Amian Crafter's & Trader's Federation Announcement: #893 While it is true that Darthion and The ACTF have worked together in a distant past when the true nature of this man was shrouded in lies, the Amian Crafter's & Trader's Federation deny any affiliation with this man in the clarity of the present.
Spokeman's Office, ACTF
// Link
"Dear habitants of Amia.
It saddens me, that those of intellectual merchanting do not know the simple rule of "You do not bite the hand which feeds you."
The Spokeman's Office, of the ACTF, has claimed that they were unaware of my beliefs, ambitions and preferences while the ACTF officially affiliated themself with me. An affilition, which has been on-going since the days of Feonir, Floriane and Irraere.
When I became an official partner, as the organisation was introduced to Amia by Bustier, and the very first members signed, everyone knew of who I was, and what I was capable of doing.
The Federation has always known of who I am, what I do and why I do it. Yet as long as I was Imperceptor of the Church of Bane, they found it beneficial to still have me within the Federation, yet somewhat secretively.
What I find more ironic, and what most of you will find less pleasing, is the fact that the Amian Traders Federation has been closely connected to the Church of Bane for ages.
It was in fact the Amian Traders Federation which supplied all of the constructing contracts for materials and equipment, nessecary to build the Temple of Bane. To clarify, the Amian Traders Federation delivered everything nessecary for the followers of Bane on this island to build their current temple. The Amian Traders Federation was payed handsomely for this service.
The former Imperceptor Gurth Balmor had close relations with several of the leading figures of the federation, and followers of the Banite faith have long been trading with the Federation. Much to the Amian Traders Federations monetary benefit.
In fact, the Amian Traders Federation has many times contributed to the Church of Bane, myself (Darthion Illys) and other followers of Bane, through auctions where you have all been bidding on luxurious artifacts, where the money given by you, the adventurers and inhabitants of Amia, have ended up in the pockets of Banites and at the same time, the Amian Traders Federation as well.
The Spokeman's Office of the Amian Traders Federation has been unwise and manipulative enough to call me, Darthion Illys, a liar. When they are themself the masters of deception, into fooling the entire island that they have nothing to do with the Church of Bane, myself or other followers of the Black Hand... while, in reality, they have been taking -your- money and putting it into the pockets of Banites.
By making the members of the Amian Traders Federation richer, and the federation itself, you've also made the followers of Bane on this island richer.
I, as a faithful servant of the Lord of Darkness, am humbly thankful of your contribution and support.
That is why I, Darthion Illys, sincerely thank all of you Grovites, Paladins, Dwarfs, Winya residents, Bendir Dale residents and many more, who have helped us build a marvelous Temple of Bane, through the assistance of the Amian Traders Federation."
Your sincerely,
signed - Darthion Illys

An incredibly brief and concise press release doubles Darthion's own coverage.
Clients, Investors, and the General Public,
The Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation has never made any secret about catering to the business needs of all individuals and organizations regardless of race, gender, creed, sexual orientation, national origin or, in Darthion Illys' case, religion. Individual Partners within the Federation are at full liberty to pick and choose their clientele as they see fit, and it is clear from our former Partner's regrettable attempt at a smear campaign against his former company that he and his Church were well looked after by the Amian Branch of the Greater Trade Federation of Toril in a provider-consumer relationship.
We are not in the habit of publishing the personal details and any associated reasons for letting our Partners go, but again, regrettably, Darthion Illys has forced the hand that once fed him: after receiving word that Partner Darthion Illys was exiled from the Commonwealth of Cordor, this market's premier trade capital, the very hub of local trade, and for reasons that leave no doubt in any individual's mind as to his lawlessness or his choice to pursue a cause greater than mere business, it became necessary to release him from the Federation as his criminal activities prove his ideals have long since parted with the Federation's lawful approach to fair trade.
The Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation wishes former Partner Darthion Illys well in his endeavours henceforth, and regrets any ill will at the separation. In addition, the Federation regrets any unrest caused by our former Partner's lawless behavior, as well as investor and client loss of confidence in our ability to continue to service the public.
We assure you, we continue to offer all individuals a fair opportunity for trade, and contrary to the claims of our former Partner, have never been in the business of keeping secrets.
Sincerely,
Ermy Hartman Chief Director of Operations, Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation Howness, Forrstakkr

*On top of the quoted press release, the following stamped marker can be seen:*
"It does please me that the Amian Traders Federation finally speaks the truth of their beneficial relation to the Church of Bane, and those followers of Bane who still provide the Federation with greedy gold. It also pleases me that the Federation finally speaks the truth about its past, and still occuring actions which benefit followers of Bane and their deeds of tyranny, fear and destruction.
It does not please me, however, that the Amian Traders Federation at first denies having knowledge of myself (Darthion Illys), my religious beliefs and known deeds, just to follow that up with another statement, that denies having ever denied it.
The manipulation and means of deception continues.
It also does not please me that the Amian Traders Federation also accepts foul creatures, such as Cyricists, Sharites and other physical manifestations of greater evil to conduct their business with them. It does terrify me, that the Amian Traders Federation openly admits to benefiting followers of the Black Sun with equipment and artifacts of extremely destructive capabilities. Offering weaponry and means of inflicting harm to creatures of chaos, murder, lies and deciept, would... judging by Ermy Hartmans press release, stand in direct conflict with the lawfulness the Amian Traders Federation publically claims themself to represent.
In lies, manipulation and benefitting Malarites, drow, Sharites and Cyricists, demons and devils on Amia, the Amian Traders Federation somehow seeks to uphold the virtue of being lawful.
I suppose, that in earning some extra gold, any of the members of the Amian Traders Federation can easily set aside both moral and ethics, when dealing with less likeable individuals.
Know this commoners, adventurers and merchants of Amia. Your biddings on any of the Amian Traders Federations auctions may just end up funding a Cyricist, a drow or a demon, in their chaotic and murderous deeds.

No response is immediately forthcoming, and it seems that the original response still stands alone in casting Darthion as the ousted Partner, right down to wishing him well in all his future endeavours.

Sir Darthion,
merchants are by nature neutral in relations to our customers. You accusations of us arming enemies are just empty if you take a step back and remember that when I add my stand to the market, doesn't matter who will buy my products, all will be treated equally in name of commerce.
You can call us merchants cruel, you can say we are evil because we are selling armors and weapons to criminals. However, we are doing our job and anyone that come to buy my products will be treated with respect. Waulkeen the Goddess of merchants and commerce defends that it should remain neutral, that the gold we receive for our products have no nature. That it is not my business if you are a necromancer, or a Bane scum.
As a War Knight I would gut those that threaten the peace of this land, but as a merchant I would indeed sell my equipment to all that are not known enemies of this land, of my own, or of the War Knights and Trade Federation.
Accusing the Trade Federation because we no longer desire your affiliation is just a childish thing to do. Because we do honestly sell things for all, but we do not become partners of known criminals, murderers, and leaders of a group that has the only objective of spreading evil, lies and chaos.

A Short note is published concerning the matter
I think you are being a bit too vindictive mate. The ATF is on the straight and narrow mostly. They don't do much bad and they do much trade. There isn't much wrong with that.

Capitalizing upon resounding support from their clientele, a second press release is paid for and distributed through the customary channels: Federation newsletters, guild spreadsheets, ads in the Amian Recorder and smaller publications, and word of mouth in general.
Clients, Investors, and the General Public,
We regret to come to you again with unwelcome news about former alliances the Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation has made, but it has always been our policy to be fully transparent with our customer base, even at the risk of what less reputable merchant organizations would call the bottom coin. Honesty and integrity go hand in hand with accountability, and we, as any good business, understand that we live and die by the grace of our clients, investors, and all consumers within our market of control.
To those above named individuals, all important to our welfare as a company, we had made a promise some months ago to supply you with goods from the merchant organization The Black Caravan. Though we kept the matter reasonably quiet, as per the same discretionary policies cited in our last press release regarding former Partner Darthion Illys, it has come to our attention that our clients, investors, and the customers were not satisfied with this response. Therefore, we feel an example of why we chose to end our business relationship with the Black Caravan and reneg upon our promise to these people is in order.
WonWon wrote: Curiously, it would seem you're having some troubles with a Banite individual who is attempting to publically smear your name across the cobbles. Cries of your trading and funding of evil churches and clergies, mutual profits, and the like.
I honestly wonder how the public would respond if, perhaps, a slip of the tongue added 'willful funding of the slave trade' to this little list. Of course, with evidence presented. You did, afterall, engage in a business agreement with us so we could fund our own endeavours (which does include slave trading; as you all know from our question and answer session preceeding the initial contract signing) and make a profit from them.
Of course, if you have something to barter to persuade us otherwise; I'm always listening. I may even help you with your current public-relations issue.
This is a letter recently received by our office in Howness, Forrstakkr, and reprinted for veracity in our press release. After a rather lengthy process of verifying the source of the letter to determine it was not a falsehood delivered under other pretexts, we were deeply saddened to find that, yes, it did indeed come from our former suppliers, the Black Caravan. The obvious utilization of blackmail is indicative of tactics we knew to be employed by the Black Caravan, tactics that were not in line with standard operating procedure of ethical business conduct; it was this behavior that led to the ultimate dissolution of our contract with the Black Caravan and our failure to make good on the promise we made to you, the consumer.
The Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation has long since acknowledged the inherent difficulties in managing a free trade economy; while we are a collection of individuals, each with their own cultural ethics, it is true that we possess one overarching goal: fair and accessible trade at reasonable prices. This branch owes its experience in such matters to the Greater Trade Federation of Toril and the many markets we have operated in - including the nation of Calimsham, where the aforementioned practice of slavery is not an illegal act. As individuals, Partners within the Federation heartily protest the practice of slavery. Equally as individuals, some are indifferent. Never has the Greater Trade Federation of Toril had an overarching policy to restrict or deny trade to any individuals based on their national origin and the practices that come along with it.
The agreement to enter into a supplier-retailer agreement with the Black Caravan was an agreement motivated by our desire to serve our local market best; unfortunately, we cannot dictate how our supplier spends their proceeds after the profits have been made. This is a standard business practice.
As the Chief Director of Operations for the Amian Branch of the Greater Trade Federation of Toril, I will admit to a personal distaste for the practice of slavery as practiced in the nation of Calimsham, and it is a belief shared by many acting Partners within the Amian market; however, we hold ourselves to an even higher set of principles - free and fair trade, even if it is known that a small percentage of the money may be used towards practices that are legal in some nations and illegal in others. And we believe that we can count upon the continued support of those who champion free and fair trade on Amia, because we have always been open and transparent with them, even when it comes to things they may not wish to hear.
As a final note to our former suppliers in the Black Caravan, notably Boss Sil'yer: we respectfully decline the offer to barter over a commodity you no longer possess, due mostly to the difference in our business practices. The Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation does, however, wish you well in the marketing of your products, which we have always agreed were very fine, and of very high quality. It is a true shame to us, to our clients, investors, and the general public, that your ethics could not be the same.
Sincerely,
Ermy Hartman Chief Director of Operations, Amian Crafter's and Trader's Federation Howness, Forrstakkr
