The Black Caravan hereby wishes to offer a statement as to the business itself, its manner and its reason for existance.
The Black Caravan, the Amian branch of a larger entity, exists to promote trade and equal wealth amongst the people of the Amian Isles and surrounding satellite regions. Sourcing wares from private suppliers and retailers, we sell wares for a price that allows the common adventurer to be as equipped as their overbearing, ever-scouring counterparts.
We believe in trade, and under Waukeen's guidance, we believe in fair and structured trade. Our wares are sold at low prices for the public to best have access to them, instead of unfairly and unjustly elevating prices to make the most profit. It is but a crime against Waukeen herself to so violently steal the earnings of another by merely playing off lack of information on a subject.
However, due to this, we are often seen as a target for theft and assaults - those wishing to take our wares for themselves, or those wishing to end our business as it threatens their own. While we believe in healthy competition, the frequent threat we are under requires us to show vigilance against those who may wish us harm.
It is because of this we fiercely protect ourselves, and allow none to harm us. We wish only to conduct business as traders, as merchants, and as suppliers to the masses; and we wish to do so safely and without threat of death to ourselves or our valued customers. Our actions exist soley to defend ourselves and our clients, and it is without malign intent that we extinguish threats as quickly as possible.
It is the violent attacks of those who show no control, no restraint, and no will to accept the actions of another that forces us to respond. Those who hide give us little choice but to find them, for to allow them to strike us again is to threaten not only our lives; but the lives of those we deal with, valued members of the public.
Our blade is never drawn 'lest the steel of our foes be seen. We had made no hostile action against the Church of Kelemvor until they saw fit to enforce their will against our clients and to attempt to do so through their sword and shield. We have also yet to make any hostile action against the Amian Crafters and Traders Federation; who saw fit to call upon the navy of a foreign land to extinguish us due to merely refusing to deal with those who would so heavily steal from their clients. And no action was made against the City of Kohlingen until they threatened to do the same themselves; the holy city wishing to kill over a political matter in which they are not involved.
We wish only to exist, and wish only to trade; and to do so fairly and justly is all we ask.
