Her years of experience in writing of Sharess and in drawing plans and preparing applications for the Temple of Love project have similarly given her some practice in the arts of the scribe.

And she is of course a Priestess and preacher of Sharess as well as a dancer, singer, poet, instrumentalist and practitioner of certain other skills should someone require the assistance of a Sharessin at their next social function.

//Please, go about this in the most IC way possible, don't conform to the OOC limitations of the jobsystem in your RP. Why would there be a list somewhere saying that there are no Pig Farmers available? No butchers? Surely, there are. Only they are NPCs. And why would the list not mention jobs not yet implemented by the system. No journalists for instance? Why would a vigilante adveritse his services as a vigilante next to a pig farmer? Jobs are not a new thing ICly, remember.

The job system, as vast and detailed as it is, must be understood as an system with OOC limitations representing an IC reality with a lot less limitations, and it's your job to relate to the IC reality and not the OOC system in your RP. Sure, it's not quite as simple as that, there are necessary work-arounds, but this is stretching it, IMO.

My advice, do advertise your jobs, but use a bit of creativty so that it doesn't smell this much of OOC.

// I agree, a good point. Why not try to change this into something a bit more IC by stealing the idea of the "Yellow Pages" or "Penny Saver" and using that style of self promotion? It would be a lot more IC. It'd be nice to see how crafty people are at making adds for themselves too. It would probably be a littler harder to maintain in order though, that's the only thing.

//What Kjetta said. Use your imagination.
You can advertise yourself as a locksmith by day, but is actually a burglar by night. Or a gambler can advertise himself as a croupier. The Federation of Legal Gambling might want your services.

You want to advertise yourself openly as a thief, it's up to you.

//Like Gunz mentioned, it's the yellow pages.
It's available in any city/town/settlement, any place with a civilisation.
It has the full template of jobs to make it easier to manage.
It has unsavoury jobs because I cannot disclude the probability that some people might want to advertise themselves.
Anyone can use it regardless or race, religion or alignment.

I'll add jobs that currently aren't in the list under a different colour code.

Post subject:

// Aye. Flesh out what this directory is all about and where it's listed, etc.

I would wait for proper IC entries to base what categories to make. What I mean by that is, for example, the thief thing: If they say they're "locksmiths" or "spys" (even though there's already a proper spy job) or anything, go with that and list them as that. Let characters find out for them selves when they meet the other character that this so called "spy" or "locksmith" is actually a thief. Alternatively, the thief can be so good at what he does, they never even find out ;)

Another example: Things like Undead Hunter and Hired Killer can be called "mercenary" or "trainer" by the character or anything crafty they can come up with. Like say someone takes Undead Hunter and they say "I am an expert and hunting undead and can train anyone who wants to learn the most efficient ways to do so. For a price, of course." That would be a sort of trainer. ::shrugs:: Just some ideas.

//Yes, this, in it's current state, is way too OOC and strange, frankly. You are also not allowed to play NPCs.

"The full template of jobs" is metagamging the fact that you know which jobs are represented by the job system and which are not. And it's just odd to have a yellow pages somewhere with an empty entry for Pig Farmer and Thief, for different reasons respectively.

As I've said, there's nothing wrong in advertising jobs, but it can be done in a better way than this.

Seeing how such a directory could have existed for ages in Amia, just like the jobs already existed in Amia for ages, this is just a fluke at the beginning. If we added "that nameless pig farming NPC" to the pig farmer entry your argument would not hold any more.

The empty entries can be thought of as not existing ICly. But the OOC work to reflect this is unnecessary, imho.

Now, if someone wants to have his own new category (on reasonable grounds), then Prescia should treat them as such. Otherwise it really would be metagaming the list of jobs.

Regards, Ts

edit: I'm too slow, the empty lines are already gone ... poor nameless pig farmer, he will not see any new customers any more.

Whilst a commercial venture is not the temples aim, those of us following Salandra have a wealth of knowledge concerning herb-lore and are welcome to share with any and all who show interest.

I myself have been diligently studying the effects of various herbs on Amia and have built up quite a knowledge of various potions and balms. I have personally secured a deal with the alchemists of Mystra's Tower to ensure that I am capable of fulfilling all steps from plant to potion.
