Round One

- The Winya Ravagers VS Alisan Winterspring & Perom Garessi

Represented by Owaris and Alastar of Winya Ravana, the Winya Ravagers made an exciting comback in the first round after Owaris was felled by a 'Wail of the Banshee' from Perom Garessi. With one point down, the current champion of the shadowflame tournament (Alastar) then proceeded to steal the bout by knocking down both foes with the spell 'Bigby's Forceful Hand'. The match was over from that point on.

Bout 2 started with Perom Garessi and Alisan charging in an attempt to overwhelm the elves with their advantage in numbers - a Winter Wight counting amongst the small army. Unshielded however, the wizard fell once more to the the sixth level spell from Alastar and Orwais proceeded to claim one point for the team. Alisan in the mean while was well concealed by the shadows as she contemplated her options on how to bring her comrade back from consciousness with both elves dutifully guarding Perom.
With his pseudodragon familar dead, Alastar was seemingly blind to the whereabouts of the shadowdancer. Owaris however, had a trick up his sleeve and summoned a helm horror which proceeded to track Alisan down, who was standing amongst them. With a few well placed castings of 'Belargn's Iron Horn', the elves were on their way to Round 2 of the Winner's Bracket.

Final score: 2-0 (Winya Ravagers)

- Hiju & Yando VS Tauronemhet & Ramas Ankhalab of the White Crown

Both teams spent a fair amount of time in the first bout preparing themselves with enchantments and spells to aid in close quarters. It was the members of the White Crown that met with Hiju and Yando in the Northwest at their respective starting zone however. Tauronemhet clashed with Hiju and managed to land a few blows but the bout turned heavily in favor of the White Crown when Ramas casted 'Earthquake'. A glaring weakness of the other team, Ramas had decided to capitalise on it and with each casting of the spell, Hiju and Yando lost abit of their footing and eventually, the bout.

Bout 2 started off the same as the earlier bout, with the spell 'Earthquake' slowly but surely edging the White Crown towards victory with each subsequent casting. Of notice was the spell 'Storm of Vengeance' Ramas had cleverly casted to prevent Hiju and Yando from aiding each other should one fall.

Final Score: 2-0 (Members of the White Crown)

- Brothers of the Curved Blade VS Daughters of the Twilight Rose

The only all-female team in the tournament; Daughters of the Twilight Rose had along with them a few other ladies and gentlemen to show their support. Comprising of Eia Shaji-Shadowflame; a bard with a draconic lineage and Hazuki; a petite elf, the duo's disciplines - unlike their matching uniforms - differed vastly. One relied on strength while the other finesse.
The Brothers of the Curved Blade, made up of Domovoi and Jelance, were by comparison far more homogeneous. Both wielded scimitars and tower-shields and were clad in full plate.

The first bout started with both teams enchanting themselves with the aid of their spells. Of note was the employment of a juggernaut by the Daughters of the Twilight Rose to their aid. The Brothers were the first to advance - without the accompaniment of summons. Both teams clashed in the South-east, with the Brothers choosing to engage in melee directly. The ladies however, chose instead to dispel the enchantments of their male competitors first. With a majority of their enchantments stripped, the tide was turned and the ladies were now the aggressors whilst the Brothers fell back to regroup and rebuff. Relentless in their pursuit, the ladies gave their opponents no breathing room and the use of bigby's forceful hand coupled with Hazuki's precise maneuvers to keep Domovoi off balance later, the Daughters were leading the score by a healthy five points. Nevertheless, as much as the Daughters were leading, the knockout seemed elusive. The brothers, ever vigilant never failed to rouse one another should another fall in combat. At the fortieth minute, Domovoi managed to raise his comrade before taking one for the team. Eia-shaji however then, struck the bout ender on Jelance after he quaffed a potion, cliching the knockout for the Daughters of the Twilight Rose.

With their opponents weaknesses figured out, the second bout went far quicker, with the daughters managing to successfully land the sixth level Bigby spell on both of their opponents. The round was over at that point on.

Final Score: 2-0 (Daughters of the Twilight Rose)

- Shaman Mallulu & Grok Hezpounda VS Baralor Palor & Reh'cra Salenor

Representing the goblinoid and orcish lineage were Shaman Mallulu, a goblin shaman and Grok Hezpounda, an example of the orgrillion race's sheer bulk and strength.
Made up of Baralor and Re'cra, the elves encompassed the sterotypical unearthly grace of their race.

The first bout started off with both teams enchanting themselves and the two elves stepping into the shadows. On the side of the greenskins however, they had aid in the form of a wyrm. Its supernatural senses negating some of the stealth advantage of the elves, enabling the greenskins to keep the pressure on. The first point was scored when the Ogrillion landed a mighty blow on Baralor, a strike that proved far too much for the elf's slight frame to handle. With a one man disadvantage, the heat was on Reh to find a way to turn the tables on the Greenskins. Unfortunately, a slip in his defense when attempting to rouse his teammate allowed the Ogrillion to yet again seize the opportunity for the knockout - which he promptly did.

Bout two started with the usual preparations but with the elves seemingly gone off the map. It not but a while later before the greenskins figured out that they were by the small islands. The first point of the bout came after Grok Hezpounda once again stuck a fierce blow to Baralor when the elves left their tactical position. With one point in the lead and one third of the way into the bout, the pressure was now on for Reh'Cra to attempt a reversal of fate. A trap nest was cunningly laid while the greenskins were distracted. The ogrillion was led to it but unfortunately, it was not sufficient to put the tough creature down. A potion of heal later, and the trap nest along with the element of surprise were for for naught.
By the mid mark of the bout, and a failed attempt to rouse his companion Baralor thus earning the greenskins yet another point, Reh'cra had successfully hit the shaman and the ogrillion with a bigby's forceful hand on separate occasions. Unfortunately, with one member consistently guarding his comrade, the lithe elf and Baralor who had been successfully raised at this point were unable to capitalise and steal a point for the bout. In his haste to capture a point in one of the prior scenarios, Baralor was felled once more by Grok, netting the third point for the bout to the Greenskins.
Two-thirds into the match, with Baralor down and a few clever but miscalculated plays later, Reh'Cra was struck down by the wicked blade of Grok, sealing the greenskins place into the second round of the competition.

Final score: 2-0 (Shaman Mallulu & Grok Hezpounda)
