Post subject:  [URGENT!]: A Request to the Salandran Temple.

This missive is sealed with the mark of dwarven houses and the stamp of Barak Runedar. It would be delivered most urgently by an anxious looking dwarven herald to the abbot, or present high ranking clergyman/woman.

I do not write to you lightly, friends.

A great War is coming to the Halls of Barak Runedar, recently a vast horde has come forth from the deep. Orcs, Orogs, Ogrillions, Fiendish Magic - all descend on our world. In their wake the barbarian tribes of the North have been scattered and broken, their remnants now survive as refugees inside our walls. These refugees are homeless, wounded and lack many basic things needed for survival in the bitter cold of the North. They are a hardy people, and the dwarves have done as much as we can to help them. But, we must also prepare for this great horde, and the impending attacks on our ancestral home.
I humbly ask, that I might meet with your abbot to discuss relief to these poor souls, and the possible organisation of evacuating the suffering, old and families - with the aid of your clergy.
I shall be bringing with me a witness to the suffering of these people, a Sunite who can attest my words as truth.

Yours with due hope,
Grimdur Bari'Var, Councillor of Barak Runedar.

A response is delievered.

Honoured Grimdur,

I would ask that you seek Metalien Sikth; I believe he has much experience with war and martial matters. Take him to your keep and show him the conditions, he will inform me of our next move to assist you in your time of need.

-Temple Mother Victoria Hildebrandt.

A missive reaches Metalien.

Templar,

I would ask that you travel to Barak Runedar to see the conditions of the Barbarians and attain what aid they require, and request. If there is a war on the horizon it might be wise to see if we can establish a presence in Brogdenstein to assist both sides.

-Temple Mother Victoria Hildebrandt

Grimdur receives the missive at his tiny, pokey desk in the Barak Runedar library. He brushes aside the hand drawn scouting reports, and raiding plans. Pulling over a candle, and running his singular hue across the latest document. He grunts a nod, and slips out three slips of parchment. They are then sealed and sent to two Dwarven heralds for dispatch. One heading straight to the Saladran Temple. The Second to Cordor.

The First Document, is to be sent to Templar Metalien Sikth;
Quote:
Hail,
The Temple Mother has mentioned that you are to come to the North and access both the refugees position, and the brewing conflict. I must first thank you for the swift response, and secondly for taking the ardious voyage North.
The time for pleasantries however, can wait. In the meantime, I shall arrange passage to Kohlingen and meet you there when you are ready, I await your reply with the time of arrival to the Holy City.

Grimdur, Councillor of Barak Runedar. *The Seal of House Bari'Var.*

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Second Document, is sent to Cordor's Adventuring Guild, addressed to Captain Nev';
Quote:
Lass,
We spoke briefly in the Square, Grimdur Bari'Var of Barak Runedar. I have a message to be passed onto your Father. I'd very much appreciate haste on the matter, as the contents of it are of great importance.

With thanks,
Grimdur, Councillor of Barak Runedar. *The Seal of House Bari'Var*

The folded bit of parchment for Krin, is written thus;
Quote:
Krin,
I thank you for your acceptance of my proposal, given a Templar has been dispatched personally to the Citadel to witness and access how much aid the Saladrans can provide - I am unsure your word as witness will be required.
However, if you think you can still be of aid to us in the North, then I would not turn down any insight into these matters. There is a great horde of Orcs, Orogs, fiendish Ogrillon and other dark creatures amassing. Should you, or your daughter and her adventurers have experience in dealing with such threats, then the Dwarves would greatly appreciate your help in the coming dark times.

Dumathoin guard your way,
Grimdur, Councillor of Barak Runedar *The Seal of House Bari'Var.*

(( Just note when your available to play! How's the weekend for you people? Saturday anytime is great for me, and anytime Sunday except from about 3pm to 5pm given i'll be in the Dwarven Council meeting, which you are welcome to attend given the issue at hand is going to be discussed. We'll organize you an escort when your in the citadel and what-not. Barr that, i'm available most weeknights GMT, excluding Fridays. ))

Two letters are dispatched:

Quote:
Most Enlightened, Temple Mother.

I shall of course do as you ask and make haste to Brogendenstein. I will make sure that both sides are treated with a fair and impartial manner that all would expect from our noble faith.
As a former Temple Father of Salandra you can expect nothing but a professional and respectful treatment of all that I find.
I will report back to you as soon as I have made a good and thorough inspection of the situation.

In the name of Our Lady.

Senior Templar,

Metalien Sikth.

Quote:
Noble Councilor, Grimdur of Barak Runedar.

I am making preparations to move north to establish a small presence in the keep at Barak Runedar. I will of course offer you every bit of aid that I can.
Please let me know a time and location where we can meet in Kohlingen? I look forward to helping all that require my aid.

In the name of The White Lady.

Senior Templar,

Metalien Sikth.

Grimdur looked over the missive with a brief smile, penning a reply and sending it forth.

Quote:
Hail Templar,
By the time you receive this message I will be enroute to Kohlingen. Seek me out in the city square at noon each day, I shall be present there for an hour at a time awaiting you.

Grimdur. *The Seal of House Bari'Var.*

After meeting in Brogendenstein and it's Council representatives, Metalien begins his work preparing supplies, bedding and tents. Along with the High Councilor Metalien purchases many tents, cots and bed rolls for the refugees. Once they're stored safely in the Brogendenstein keep Metalien returns to the hills overlooking the refugee camp. He waits for the forthcoming meeting with the Chief of The Barbarian Tribes.

Rumours rise that another former Salandran Templar was recently spotted within the Temple grounds since the call for assistance was hailed. With reluctance, sealed armouries were opened and formerly inert augmentations reactivated as rumours simultaneously circulated that "the fell handed" had awoken.

Shortly afterwards, a letter is left in the care of the meeting hall's attendants that is addressed to the current Salandran Temple Mother:

Quote:
"Temple Mother,

Certain disagreements with the tenets have strayed me from the Lady's path, but old bonds of duty to my former Mentor Metalien have alerted me to the call for aid. Because it is a Salandran matter, I seek your permission to lend my experience to the assistance of Barak Runedar and assist Templar Sikth as he requires.

With regards,

Jack Galenson. Fell Handed."

Mr. Galenson,

You need not ask me for permission to assist Metalien, he is quite capable of accepting or declining your aid on his own. This matter is one for the dwarves of Barak Runedar, we are simply seeking to allay the suffering of those that are caught up in this conflict.

Grimdur Bari'Var ascended the icy ladder to join Metalien at his vigil. He opening a flask of steaming mead and offering it to the human, whom despite his age seemed to be spending so much time in the freezing Port.

"Drink Templar, 'tis a weak mix but it'll warm your core an' free up yer fingers.." The man turning his eyes down towards the barbarians, and a small group of wounded dwarves being escorted towards the Keep. "We hold Council soon, I'd imagine it's the time we'll also seek out the Gregunk for this meetin', if you wish t'take a seat for the proceedings I can contact one o' the High Councillors."

He then handed the man a small dossier listing food supplies, hunting materials and animal skins for blankets. There were also a few meager potions, and a larger supply of healers kits, "This is the current inventory fer the Special Tunnel Service. I left out the more military items, but if ye need these f'the refugees or dwarves your givin' aid to, then feel free t'present that to the quarter master and he'll give you access to our supplies. Barr that, I'll keep ye apprised of anything concerning wounded, and the inventory of clerical supplies. Though, Runa will be the one to see if you need anything in a hurry." His singular eye narrowed thoughtfully as he gazed across the snow for a moment, leaving the flask of hot mead for the man - to stave off the cold.

Though as ill omen might have it, the storm and it's forthcoming aftermath would soon impact their hold!

Metalien thanks Grimdur with a grateful nod and accepts the drink. Surveying the dossier he was given the aging Templar nods grimly at the thought of the task ahead, not yet knowing that his old friend Jack is on his way to lend aid.
"I'd very much like a seat at the meeting, my friend. If you can get me permission, of course?", mutters the Salandran Templar as he sips gratefully on the steaming hot mead.
Remaining stoically on the hill top, overlooking the Barbarian Camp, Metalien settles down for his own private vigil, thanking Salandra under his breath for the hospitality of the dwarves.

As the trade run does its scheduled stop into Brogdenstein's waters, the unannounced individual gets off and makes his way down the road towards the Fortress gates. Clothed in gear appropriate to the climate, Jack rolls the augmented components of his right arm, the "fell handed," and mildly curses to himself about the stiffening of the gears from the cold.

He pushes the idly gazing Metalien off his seat before taking his own. "Just like old times... now, what's the situation..."

The council meet it seems is cancelled, as dwarves head out into the squalling snow on some kind of hit and run foray into the barbarian camps.

Though a day later, Grimdur arrives with an update for the Templars as they go about their duties, handing Metalien a sealed scroll. "Hail, lads. I think ye should be of the first t'know that High Councillor Folinar was found, and rescued from the wilds. He is recovering in the Infirmary in the Citadel, in t'meantime, I have this for ye to pass onto your Temple Mother. Naturally you are welcome t'a glance it concerns you, aswell. Secondly, that the barbarians have agreed to speak with us, i'll keep you both apprised." He turns his singular eye on Jack, and offers forth his right arm to the Templar. "Welcome t'the Hold, lad. I'm Grimdur of the Clan Bari'Var, should you need anythin' from the dwarves. Ye let me know." The dwarf, and his scarred face, crack a smile. Though it appears more a grimmace, the man's singular eye looking across the new addition to the Salandran envoy carefully.

The message the dwarf had given them read thus;

Quote:
Friends and Allies of the Dwarves,
I write to you in these trying times to officially inform of our current state of affairs, and to cement our alliances and bonds further into the future. I should ask that his document be kept secure due to the nature of it's contents, and to stem any rumor mongering that may rise should it be circulated.

As some of you may know, we have recently come under attack from a hostile force. A great horde of orcs, orog, fiendish ogrillon and frost giants have amassed upon our Isle. Our intelligence, at this time, indicates that they have been massed to serve the interests of the demon lord Dagon, on our mortal plane. We know of at least one powerful warlock that attempted to invade Barak Runedar via our mines from the Underdark, this attack was successfully thwarted by the efforts of valiant defenders of the Hold and for the time being we have been able to maintain our tunnel defenses in light of this new threat.

Most recently dark magics have been wrought upon our hold, a great blizzard has been loosed upon us. Battering the outer walls and attempting to punch holes in our defenses. Thus far we have held against the attacks and skirmishes, but the true weight of the horde has yet to try itself against us. Recently the local barbarian tribes have been set upon by this great enemy, being forced to join with them, or perish. With each tribe they conquer the horde grows in size and threat.
Barak Runedar is actively sheltering a tribe which we managed to, in part, save from annihilation - and is now serving as a staging area for other refugees who fled in wake of the horde. Our thanks go out to the Salandrans at this time for responding so swiftly to our plea for help in dealing with this influx of poor souls.

Secondly, we have not forgotten the threat in Khem. Whilst our enemies are simmering and awaiting for attack, the people of Mulhorand are beset by demonic forces in all out war. High Councillor Reddock Bloodaxe will continue to serve as our envoy to the people of Djedet, and it's surrounds.
Also, a number of Dwarven artisans and masons will be sent to supervise and aid in the construction of the new fortress. Though given our current situation, they're numbers will be limited - we are sending our best, this team of Dwarves have decades of experience and skill, and should be able to pool their skills to handle the most complex aspects of architecture and building. Also, I myself will be journeying back and forth to Khem with the view of establishing a pool of resources in Guldorand, allowing supplies to be massed, then transported to Mulhorand as soon as we are able - and in as much bulk as the portal will allow.

Finally, the War Knights have had lodgings in the Barak Runedar barracks made ready for them should be they be aiding with our defenses at the Hold. The military installation in the centre of the Port has been designated the staging area for defensive preparations, and planning. To the noble Knights of the Triad we send a plea for information regarding the demon lord Dagon, and his cultists. If you have anything in your archives to help us prepare for attack, we would be eternally grateful. Should your Knights be willing to aid the wounded and wary please make contact with me at your discretion, I shall forward any matters regarding military personnel to Councillor Whurak Valtensson - Acting Chair of Military.

May we stand against the darkness,

Councillor Grimdur Bari'Var of Barak Runedar

Metalien, happy to be standing shoulder to shoulder with his oldest living friend once again reads the scroll carefully. "Good to see the Barbarians are willing to talk" He says as he turns to Jack and Grimdur, "What are the next steps to be, Grimdur?".

"Once we have word from his people, we'll ensure everyone is present for the meeting." He grunts, eloquently as only a dwarf can. His eye turning away from the Templar then, to regard the Northmen. "He's been in talks with his Shamans almost non-stop. They seem to know something about what bought that blizzard down upon us, and it unsettled e'm to no end. Lets hope they can help us, as much as we can aid them, lads." He nods his head, and steps back a few steps into the snow, bringing his fist to his chest in a balled fist. "For the moment, I need t'get back to my duties. I've told the lads at the Port t'help ye unload anything from your Temple and get it to ye infirmary here. Dumathoin watch your way, Templars."

And with that, the Councillor drew up his hood, and trudged back across the snow towards the Citadel, a large flask of steaming mead left where he had stood moments before.

Metalien dispatches two letters, both identical, one to The Dwarven COuncil and one to Temple Mother Victoria Hildebrandt.

//OOC: This letter is only available to the Dwarven council and Salandran Temple Mother.

Most Honourable Dwarven Council.

Please find enclosed a copy of the report I have dispatched to my Temple. Please inform me if you feel I could add more to the next report.

Kindest Regards.

Metalien Sikth.

Quote:
Most Honourable Temple Mother Victoria Hildebrandt.

It is my duty to write to you to inform you of the situation I find here at Brogendenstein. The Barbarian tribes appear to be struggling. They have little food, medical supplies, shelter and fresh water. Myself and Grimdur have met and spoken and, along with others, managed to raise plenty of bedding and shelter for the tribsemen.

The arrival of Jack Galenson has lifted my spirits plenty so I feel that I have all the support form the temple that I need, for now. At this current time we are awaiting a suitable time to meet with all the leadership representatives to discuss where we go from here. I don't know what to expect from that, though I shall inform you of any matters that arrise during or before the meetings.

Again, I don't need any further backup at this time, myself and Jack have it covered. If this changes I shall make sure to write to you as soon as possible.

The Dwarves have been most accommodating towards me and Jack and have made us feel welcome and supported.

In the name of Salandra.

Senior Templar, Metalien Sikth.
