NOTICE OF FORMAL CHARGESAccused:
    Elven mage, Selgoron (1, 2, 3)
    Winged elf, Balaeyi (1,2)
    Unknown elven warrior (1,2)
    LyeIanna (3)

Charges:
    1. Murder
    2. Endangering the lives of innocent bystanders
    3. Beating a man nearly to death who offered zero resistance

On the 20th day of Ches I arrived at the Triumvir to witness Selgoron, Balaeyi and the unknown elven warrior murder the bard Caron Muir after speaking no more than a single sentence to the man. They left with the corpse. Selgoron and the unknown warrior returned a few moments later demanding I give them an ‘instrument’. I told them I did not have this, instrument and was not part of whatever they were doing, to just leave me alone. Indeed I had not even been close to the previous altercation or those involved. They saw fit to attack me anyway. Selgoron cast a death spell in the full and crowded Triumvir.

When I was returned to life the elves were not there – they had left me in that state; presumably after determining I was telling the truth about not having this ‘instrument’.

Later the same day I had no recourse except to watch as Lyelanna and Selgoron became violent with the human called Drusus. They were now demanding that he give them this ‘instrument’. A winya guard was present at the beginning of the altercation, and when the two refused to heed him, he left saying he would not take part in what they were doing.

Lyelanna then struck Drusus, knocking him to the ground, where she sat on him. The man at this point was incapacitated and unable to defend himself in any meaningful way. The female then saw fit to continue beating Drusus until his face and head were shattered. Again this pair searched him to find he actually did not have what they were seeking! They kicked him off of a cliff and left him for dead.

Being a small shrine I have no way to formally try these individuals. Therefore I must leave it up to the elven council to police their own.

However, if this is not done, I will be forced to see that my allies consider these people extremely dangerous and hostile – so they are given no chance to harm anyone else.

~ Lady Iim’mur’ss Duul’Ssom, faithful of Selune & Eilistraee

Attention all!

Panumbra, aka Caron and his bosom chum and fallen cleric Drusus are both open Nightsinger servants. Be very aware of this should you choose to defend the duo or those who associate with them: if you do you defend open servants of the Lady of Loss you can expect to be counted among them.

//below the note is a very crudely drawn Shar symbol with "beware" written around it.

Left at Kampo's:

Drusus Vel is a fool and many other things, but a follower of the Nightsinger is not one of them. Though he may be fallen, Drusus Vel is still a faithful follower of Kelemvor. Caron on the other hand is a Sharran.

I will be very clear when I say that Drusus is not a Sharran and that Caron's situation, additionally, is a complicated one. To further elaborate on Drusus, he is a faithful follower of Kelemvor. I know him and understand he is fallen. But he is far from being a follower of the Nightsinger. Anyone who suggests such is either ignorant or just plain stupid. You need to get your facts straight before throwing out slander. Those who heavily assaulted these two are also not only murders, but racist above most, seeing everyone else as lesser than they are, or at the very least one of them that I'm aware.

So, all in all, get your shit straight before trying to place even partial blame on the victims involved.

The note is unsigned.

This notice is even more farcical. Whose authority are these people being charged under? Your three-steps academy? The shrine of Eilistraee? Any of the cities you hung notices on? And how are you 'formally charging' an 'unknown elven warrior' with two crimes? How does that work exactly? What are you going to do when you 'catch' these people? Who will host the trial? Do you have a jail in mind? Are there some secret dark cells under your shadow-dancing academy?

Here's a news tidbit for you, you can't be 'faithful' and 'fallen,' it's contradictory, faithful people don't fall, people fall when their Deity is displeased with their conduct. The Lord of the Dead and Judge of the Damned judged him and deemed him false. Don't argue with Him. If anything it's proof of what I say.

"Since when are you a speaker for Lord kelemvor? Do not intertwine faithful and fallen into one category. Dru has failed his job as a priest but he can continue to be faithful to Lord Kelemvor despite his punishment. A person chooses to be faithful, but even the faithful which consists of mostly mortals that are prone to make errors. Punishment from your deity does not prevent any individual from being faithful, otherwise no one would be able to undo the damage. Fallen have restored the connection with their deity many times before"

Some rapscallion seems to have 'snuck' into Kampos to deliver a reply!

By Tymora's tits, you people are serious, aren't you? All right, fine then. Here's a shiny new perspective.

Who bloody cares?

Does it matter if they're Sharran or not Sharran? I don't go around beating people's faces in no matter who they worship or don't worship, and in fact, I make it a point to twist up the knickers of those that DO. That USED to be Banites, Necromancers, demon-worshippers or what have you, and now it's random elves?

You lot have grown too obsessed with who might or might not be 'evil' to pay attention to the real questions. If it comes down to a choice between someone who I know for sure is a Sharran and some crazy bastard going on a killing spree in the Triumvir, I don't care if that second bloke is a damned paladin of Salandra, sign me up for some temporary Nightsinging.

Actions speak louder than faith. If you're enough of a prig to call for the normalization of murder just because 'it's okay to kill maybe-Sharrans', you're a better damned Sharran than they are.

The notice is unsigned, but someone has scrawled a crude facsimile of a house into the outline of the paper.

Also a butt.

// to the notice above

Ok assman, let me lay down some truth for you. The Lady of Loss revels in misery and causing misery. By having her followers act like sad sullen sacks of sadness, appearing pitiable while not earnestly being non-repentant, they CAUSE the misery she demands. Acting like your pal and then letting you down, such as by refusing the resurrection attempt of a friend, flubbing a melee tournament, or, in this case, making people 'stand up for' random murderers. All these things are in the typical portfolio of your average nightsinger servant, and it's why such games shouldn't be entertained, they should just be rooted out. All they do is seek out ways to cause this exact situation and make everyone miserable.

I have to wonder how many of you are just misled, and how many of you are actually just that stupid. Some of you manage to fall for the same trick over and over and over and over and over.

At Kampos a delicate written letter is tagged on top of the other notices.

A fall is yet another test of ones' faith and service. Whoever you other scribes are know that you are equally responsible for seeing to that Drusus finds his place among those who shepherd for the end of all.

A certain shadow would pause upon seeing all of the replies on the noticeboard in Kampos. Was there a quiet, effeminate chuckle from behind the illusion? What could have possibly caused such a reaction? Maybe it was the final post, and held a sense of fondness for some reason. Or maybe it held a sense of irony that the repeated anonymous poster was doing exactly what a follower of the Nightsinger would do by spreading lies and trying to stir trouble among people that didn't appreciate cold-blooded murder.

Whatever the reason, the shadow decided it would have a seat at a table, place its feet up on the surface of the furniture, and have a rest - with a clear view of the noticeboard.

A grey clad elf can be seen reading over the notice and replies at Kampos. After he's finished, he takes a seat at a table across the room from the amused shadow, his back to a corner. The elf ignores any inquisitive looks his way, and simply settles in to watch the traffic.

The next response in Kampo's takes a while. Probably because the poster has to come down from a solid twenty minutes of laughing, buying a quick drink, and then laughing some more.

Oooh, 'assman', is it? If I'd known I was trying to enlighten a 12-year old human girl I'd have used smaller words! I'll give you credit where its due - you can't possibly be a Sharran. You're too funny by half for that. You're trying really hard to get in Her good graces, though, like those elves. Keep trying, girlie, you'll get there some day!

Another house is drawn on the edge of the note, and on the opposite side two circles drawn close together. Which section of anatomy THOSE are supposed to be is best left to the debate of the gods.

At the Kampo's, another note is pinned to the notice board. The writings are written in crude contiguous tract, but the letters are comprehensible and the message is clear.

I did not hit Drusus like the drow is saying, and it did not happen like she is saying. What she is writing is a lie and untruthful and she is trying to blame us for how it ended. Iim is only stalking and spying and making lies against people she does not like.

So if Iim'mur'ss and Lyelanna have their memories magically examined, what story do you think will emerge? Anyone involved is welcome to come to my workshop in Wharftown for a memory recording if you're interested in having the Truth published in all its graphic detail. That'll be the method for getting the banishments rescinded. Somehow, I get the impression that only Iim'mur'ss will actually show. Shame, that.

So if both of them show up and are examined, you will still get the truth from both of them, on how 'they' perceived it. How will 'you' determine what you think to be the truth? Somehow, I get the impression that your biased opinions will rest with your friend and comrade, rather than someone you could care less about. Shame, that.

Idan's reply is quickly defaced with several crude scribblings, including a few meaningless blobs that were scratched out only to be replaced with the word 'CROTCH'.

I'd laugh if this weren't so sad. The elves haven't been able to rein in their own people since Qirlan was going around killing whoever in the balls he wanted to. Then Meldrium. Then Voronwer. Then a hostile takeover of the Shrine. And now this? Are you people dancing to the fiddle of Lady Spidertits en masse, now? Because I remember someone trying to convince me that elves were wise, cultured, slow to anger and all that drivel. The youngest adults among you have had a century to learn how not to make asses of yourselves - either use it or put someone else in charge of educating your barmy kin, but don't come and try to shove 'it's being handled' down our throats after YEARS of Winya Ravana being able to harbor mass-murderers on account of, for all I can tell, 'They're elves, so they know what they're doing'.

Bullshite. You're as mortal as the rest of us. Fecking cop to it.

Elves are better than everyone else, or so they'd like to think. For all their massive egos, they take centuries to perfect what humans can do in mere years of experience. They think their long lives and insular culture make them somehow superior to all others. You'll not often find elves, at least who call Winya home, who don't look down their noses to some extent at the other races.

Quite simply as I see it, all of Winya is full of racist, close-minded, murderers. Maybe they don't all go out on massive killing sprees like Selgoron, but they allow him and others like him to shelter in their city. They'll always trust the word of an elf over anyone else no matter the evidence. They're just as bad as the ones committing the murders for not stepping up and speaking against it.

I hear a lot of talk of rising up against oppression and secrets. If you're serious, rise up against Winya. Show those smug elves that actions have consequences, that they can't let their kin go around murdering whoever they damn well please on the rest of the isle and then hiding away in Winya. Block carts, accost those travelling to Winya, make business for them a living hell, and if they still don't get the point, send a few arrows their way.

Enough is enough.

A copy of a response to a similar proclamation is left on this series as well.

Quote:
In Kampo's...

Sociopolitical trends aside, 'these Winyans are bad, so feck all Winyans' makes you out to be just as much of a crackpot as the ones who are a problem. Good Winyans exist. I know a few. More than a few, actually. Hells, there are CERTAINLY at least roughly the same percentage of asshat elves as there are asshat humans, or dwarves, or paladins (halflings are still better than everyone else, though). The problem isn't individuals, it's the institution. The lot of them are paranoid they'll lose their cultural closeness, so they go the other way and huddle together against the greater world. You ever notice how elves call other elves by family names like brother, sister, cousin all the time? They see themselves as one big family, and I'll give them a round of applause for sticking up for family. The problem comes when it comes to a choice between family and 'others'. It's called xenophobia, and like shitting, everyone does it, but unlike shitting, you don't need to. Furthermore, like shitting, elves have had a good thousand or so years to perfect it.

So no, meeting asshattery with asshattery has, historically, never solved anything except making asshats feel better about themselves. Yell at them until they try to fix themselves, by all means, but decent progress is a lot slower than 'I don't like a few of these blokes, let's make ALL their lives a living hell'.

Beneath the response is a drawing of a butt with a solemn expression.
