Holy hells, I was joking when I made the comparison to Qirlan and Meldrium. I guess I'm a Diviner. I predict...a bunch of kobold-haters justifying and minimalizing his actions!

Elves are better than everyone else, or so they'd like to think. For all their massive egos, they take centuries to perfect what humans can do in mere years of experience. They think their long lives and insular culture make them somehow superior to all others. You'll not often find elves, at least who call Winya home, who don't look down their noses to some extent at the other races.
Quite simply as I see it, all of Winya is full of racist, close-minded, murderers. Maybe they don't all go out on massive killing sprees like Selgoron, but they allow him and others like him to shelter in their city. They'll always trust the word of an elf over anyone else no matter the evidence. They're just as bad as the ones committing the murders for not stepping up and speaking against it.
I hear a lot of talk of rising up against oppression and secrets. If you're serious, rise up against Winya. Show those smug elves that actions have consequences, that they can't let their kin go around murdering whoever they damn well please on the rest of the isle and then hiding away in Winya. Block carts, accost those travelling to Winya, make business for them a living hell, and if they still don't get the point, send a few arrows their way.

A Drow wearing the regalia of the War Knights spots Silvershade's posting in Kampo's- and as she reads it, an infuriatingly smug grin crosses her face. Though she leaves no proper posting, she murmurs to herself:
"...seems your chickens have come home to roost, you knife-earred bastards. I hope your damned city burns."
Perhaps in solidarity with Silvershade's sentiment, Triel'ithra scrawls a stylized "Z" beneath his post, before leaving Kampo's and departing for parts unknown.

Sociopolitical trends aside, 'these Winyans are bad, so feck all Winyans' makes you out to be just as much of a crackpot as the ones who are a problem. Good Winyans exist. I know a few. More than a few, actually. Hells, there are CERTAINLY at least roughly the same percentage of asshat elves as there are asshat humans, or dwarves, or paladins (halflings are still better than everyone else, though). The problem isn't individuals, it's the institution. The lot of them are paranoid they'll lose their cultural closeness, so they go the other way and huddle together against the greater world. You ever notice how elves call other elves by family names like brother, sister, cousin all the time? They see themselves as one big family, and I'll give them a round of applause for sticking up for family. The problem comes when it comes to a choice between family and 'others'. It's called xenophobia, and like shitting, everyone does it, but unlike shitting, you don't need to. Furthermore, like shitting, elves have had a good thousand or so years to perfect it.
So no, meeting asshattery with asshattery has, historically, never solved anything except making asshats feel better about themselves. Yell at them until they try to fix themselves, by all means, but decent progress is a lot slower than 'I don't like a few of these blokes, let's make ALL their lives a living hell'.
