Over the last few days the people of Ostland are greeted by the sudden arrival of a new generous merchant. A distinctive one eyed fellow that goes by the name of Mr Weld. His arrival is at first greeted with distrust but quickly evolves into excitement as the people rejoice over his cheap, high quality meat products. The man can be seen traveling the isle delivering bundles of fresh sliced and dried meat usually in exchange for a trivial sum. The man quickly develops a myth of being untouchable as he seems to travel alone through the many monster filled areas to deliver his goods to all those who request it.

Devlin seems inquisitive about this new arrival. He informs the guards to keep an eye out.

Salyesi would also be weary of this new Merchant and kept a pretty close eye on him herself.

Simply observing this Merchant just didn't seem to satisfy the Young Bardess' mind and as a result it didn't last for very long. She began to mingle with the Commoners he was bartering with, well he was passing out his assumed goodwill. She greeted some of the common folks she had started to get to know from her time in Ostland. To some she even stopped and whispered. But, at the first opportunity Salyesi approached the newcomer with confidence and reached out her hand to shake his.. “Salyesi Lyonson!.. Mr Weld is it?.. I don't believe I have seen you around these parts before?”

The guards do seem to keep an eye on the fellow, as per the court engineer's request. They do not seem to be hostile toward the merchant, at least.

Any attempt to approach Mr Weld would be 'politely' engaged with a hand shake, a short introduction, and an excuse that he must be on his way. The next follow days would see more shipments of his meat products being delivered to the isle. An extra large shipment delivered, free of charge, to the court with compliments from Mr Weld. It would be noted that the trips that were once undergone solo by Mr Weld himself are now undergone by large burly men. His supplies seem almost endless, to the point, that other food products coming into the isle are left untouched and even dare I say some spoil from disinterest.

Hallvardr would seek one of the Jarl's officers or General Algernon asking to mobilize some men to see to this mysterious man and to get this mysterious food that is so aplenty to be tested by all mundane means and if General Algernon can use his Divine talents to see if theres nothing "wrong" with that food.

The food is not accepted into Rethgaard, the military installation already having its own ample income of supplies of foodstuffs. If Mr. Weld asked why, he would be blatantly told that they already have ample supplies and that he and his men were simply not trusted.
He'd be directed to speak with the Warlord, Elwyn, if he has any further business with the Keep.

Salyesi doesn't simply except Mr Weld's excuse to not speak with her and instead advised as many of the untrusting local folks that she could, not to consume his goods for fear there was something wrong with them! Then in haste she confidently approached one of the guards nearing the docks. She reminded him of what she was told upon her arrival in Ostland when trying to distribute free provision to the commoners.. She would question why this -Stranger- and his brutes were freely allowed to distribute their provisions without question?
She also explained how it appeared to her after taking notice of a few of the locals that didn't listen to her advice and consumed Mr Weld's provisions anyways. It was like they had become addicted to the meat, wherein the Lyonsons, trusted imported and free provisions were left to rot.
At this point she would strongly suggest/demand that the Guard stop Mr Weld and his brutes from doing any further business in Ostland without the permission of Her Liege Lord; Jarl Magnus.

Prime among the things being left mostly alone are the fishermens' products. Vegetables seem to be in demand, but the meat Mr Weld is selling seems to be selling quite fast alongside the other staples of the Ostlander diet.

Elwyn approached the merchant and purchased some meat from him, placing it away for later use. But once the merchant was away elsewhere, she traded what she had purchased herself with one sold to one of the commoners, offering even a small sum should they need further convincing.
Placing the meat away she took ship and headed for parts unknown...

Salyesi disappeared later that day and hasn't been seen since. Only the Brothers would know her location but they aren't saying anything.
