A simple notice hangsWealth and scarcity go hand in hand. While some choose to gouge the poor for a copper, others work to stop the rich from getting richer. Remember, as the buyer of items, you set the price. When you over pay, you sabotage the poor. Do not betray your kinsmen, family, and friends. Do not pay more then the listed prices.

The power to set prices belongs to the masses. Always remember this, and do not let the rich prey upon you. A fair wage for fair work is the ideal all soceity should strive toward; do not let the bourgeoisie take it from you, so they can continue to sit upon their thrones of perfumed titles as their servants bring them gold taken from your pockets.

List of ScabsName / Affiliation / Crime

Xy'glythar / Belenoth. Charging double the accepted value of items on all of his items, going so far as to charge a 'delivery fee' to bring items to areas he hangs around anyway. Brags about profiting off of artificial scarcity, by advertising a competitor, who sells items for 1/2 the value, but has been missing as of late. Xy'glythar is a scab of the highest degree.

Pylithien "Pie" / Warlord of the War Knights. Initially charged 20x the accepted value for a pair of boots. Updated the sale price to 10x the accepted value. This is despite common knowledge indicating the War Knights war chests are among the deepest in the region. Remember that Tempus demands that his followers "Arm all for whom battle is needful, even foes." The Warlord instead seeks to profit from War. RECTIFIED

Khuzdul Durugnul / Preacher of the Merchant King. So affluent and disconnected the recent famine was utterly unknown to him. A model bourgeoisie.

Nova / Druid. Initially offering a 'recommended price' to a known and listed Scab, but when said Scab refused, Nova immediately betrayed her countrymen and offered the asking price, many many times higher then the 'accepted' price. A scab of the highest degree, Nova willfully undermines the proletariat. Should anyone be unclear on what the term 'Scab' means, simply look to Nova's behavior.

List of Egalitarianist HeroesName / Affiliation / Cause

Cordor / City. A true city of trade, Cordor offers fair prices for fair work, from merchant to tradesmen.

Winya / City. Supposedly exclusionary, but pays a fair price for fair work, so far as to pay a human a sum of one million gold and an ioun stone to spy upon their enemies.

Hallvardr / Unaffiliated. Armed local population out of his own pocket. A hero to the people.

Tristen / Unaffiliated. For the proper auction of an item in low demand, starting at a price many, if not all who seek it, could afford.

Jacen / Now Unaffiliated. For selling items at recommended prices, and encouraging fair barter for items he would rather not 'liquefy.'

A woman of medium height dressed head to toe in black, steps from a shadow to leave a note tacked to the board in Kampo's Storehouse.
Quote:
Well, I for one am so thankful for Mister Pitts for pointing out that even in our market economy, some people will try to control everything. Without this vital knowledge, myself and many others would be woefully uneducated as to the going rate of such rare items. I for one had no idea that weapons and armor had a tier system. It makes me wonder how we all survived on this island before his arrival.

Such insight, such wisdom. Such bullshit. People will pay what something is worth, and they will charge as much as they can. Having gold does not mean you should shortsell yourself, any more than being poor means you can overcharge.

Your ignorance is astounding,

Indeed, the rich prey upon the poor and ignorant. It is even worse in times of famine, for whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, you do all for the glory of the Bourgeoisie when you pay unacceptable rates.

Post subject:  Re: [Kampos, Cordor] Mr. Pitt's List of Acceptable Prices

There is nothing wrong in seeking the best possible deal. Just as a carpenter invests a lot of time into turning a piece of wood
into a majestic masterpiece, so a good trader should do the same with his goods and strike the best possible deal. Trading is
an art and it should be honed and nurtured with trial and error, even if it means correcting the price over and over again. The
market is a turbulent sea and nobody knows what it may bring on the morrow. The Merchant King himself teaches us this:

"The truly blessed are those whose enterprise and zeal brings both wealth and good luck. Dwarves are well suited to earn their
fortunes by the effort of both their hands and their minds; use both to pry wealth out of others. Work hard, be clever, seek
the best bargain, and the Merchant King will shower you with gold. Live life to its fullest; save, tithe, and spend your riches and
thus encourage more trade. Treat others with respect, but shirk not your responsibility to try to strike a deal better for you
than for them-to not try would be to leave the gifts that Vergadain gives you idle."

In this moment, the prices are lower than they have ever been. A few years back a pair of Master Discipline Gloves would not go
for less than 20,000,000 golden crowns and the Tome of Mystra would not be sold for gold at all. I still recall a legendary bow
that was sold for over 90,000,000 golden crowns. The price is set by the merchants, for every merchandise has its buyer.
The list you are making has some value for it shows the current market prices. But inviting the merchants and the customers
not to pay over that price and genuinely believing that you can dictate the market rates is ridiculous. Then again, the laughter
is also important.

A Simple ReplyYou are starving, not a copper to your name, in dire need of something, anything to fill your belly, a man holds a loaf of bread out to you. This rotund man clearly hungers not for bread or trinkets, and yet here he is, standing before you, a smirk upon his face, that stands out among all his finery. You ask for the bread, and responds with an unfathomable price, one only he or his bourgeoisie friends can afford.

"GOD." He booms, "God tells me to take as much of your money as I am able."

"HISTORY." He bellows, "History tells me you are lucky to pay what I now offer, for once before, someone paid even more."

And so you starve, unable to pay, and he watches you die, clutching the food you need in his hands. He is not troubled, for you had not the coin he asked for, and coin is the totality of his cares.

Do not let yourself be food to stuff their vile stomachs. Do not pay exorbitant prices.

Show me the one who lives in a city, a town or a village on Amia and starving.
Every adventurer was broke when he first got to Amia . I earned my first million
in a tenday. If such thing is possible, then nobody in their right mind should
be hungry because they cannot afford to pay for the food.

What is the real reason behind this research of yours?

A black-cloaked man chuckles when reading the information, then adds his own notice.

Wouldn't you agree that there is a slight difference between high-tier armor and basic things such as food? You do not need all of these items to earn a living off adventuring. A simple sword and leather armor is enough, I've seen people with less. As you said, Bread is 4 copper per pound. You get that much simply looking through sewers and selling junk.
Ioun stones however, there is not need for them. And a merchant can decide to sell at his own prices. If someone is idiotic enough to buy from them, it is their own fault. On the other hand, if there is one merchant selling one thing, and he is the only one selling it, why can't he set his own prices? Either it is worth that much to someone, or it isn't and he won't sell anything. In that case, the merchant gets nothing.
You say yourself, a merchant should have a fair wage. So why are you taking away from his money with this?

The recent orc attacks have driven up food prices to extreme levels. People are worried and scared everywhere and the nobles are hording food. Gougers are everywhere.

Where have you been? The scarcity is overwhelming right now. Trade caravans are sacked left and right and rich merchants are artificially inflating food prices to make more coin, we'll beyind what current conditions should allow.

It's pathetic. And very telling of you, sir, that you are so out of touch this famine is unknown to you.

"Really, when I lowered the price to one million coins from two million, you say that is 10x? That would mean, in your opinion, they are only worth 100,000? I see other people auctioning them for 1.5 million. That seems to be the market price right now, but honestly, I am no merchant. I am simply going off what other vendors are selling for.

Your take on my faith is misguided. Tempus arms all for whom battle is needful, which I do. However...do you know what it costs to arm my Knights, or anyone? I won't be able to do that if I'm broke now will I? Tell you what, when you have to house Knights inside of a large Keep with maintenance costs, and keep everything running, then we'll talk. However, if I am overcharging, it was not intentional. Obviously you seek to discredit me and my Order with slander. I have no doubts about my faith to Tempus, and neither does anyone else I know."

A simple noticeCorrect your price gouging and the War Knights will no longer be counted among the Scabs.

"Tempus does not win battles, he helps the deserving warrior win battles."

Is this what you do when you horde money for your castle?

"Arm all for whom battle is needful, even foes."

Is this what you do when you horde millions of gold for yourself?

"War is fair in that it oppresses and aids all equally and that in any given battle."

Is this how you feel when you sit inside your castle while your very island is condemned to utter poverty?

Khuzdul laughs seeing that he is called an aristocrat and a preacher. It would appear that the idea sits well with him.
After reading the other messages, he puffs on a fancifully carved wooden pipe, as a thick, pleasantly smelling cloud
of smoke forms above him. He then walks away, rolling a golden dubloon down his knuckles, whistling to a marry tune.

"The idea of becomin' a preacher is ney half as bad.."

"The auction notice has been taken down. Now let's get a few things straight. I do not horde money for the Keep or myself. I spend all of it on maintenance, arming the Knights, and arming and training some of the common folk and less experienced. I can assure you I am not a wealthy individual in the least. When I do gain more, I can help out more.I do not sit inside the Keep. I'm out there, doing everything I can to make the folk battle ready, trained, and fed. Just because it's not advertised, does not mean it's not done or in the works.

I've only recently become Warlord, necessary changes that I plan to implement do not happen overnight. Instead of jumping to conclusions, assuming shit and conjecture, you could simply inquire. I'm not hard to contact. I'd rather have a civil discussion, then simply bicker among message boards. Let's meet, because you apparently think poorly of the Order and I without even meeting me or knowing what is going on. Judge me on that. Don't slander beforehand, it's unbecoming."

*A note is left*

Pitt

During my whole time on the Order as Warlord or not, arming every recruit and everyone in need on Amia, Rhuathym and other lands abroad left me today with like less then 40.000 gold coins.

Every Knight there does their work properly. Stop making assumptions without knowing the facts. If a single adventurer is willing to pay millions of gold for one item and those millions can be used to arm dozens in need of equipment to better defend themselves and their families. Well there is nothing wrong about it.

About the famine as I've told you when we meet. It is not the lack of gold and riches. The issue with it is the availability of food since it keeps being raided and destroyed by the parties that wants to spread it.

If you want to help, then start a garden and grow food for the people in need since gold coins are not food and cannot be eaten.

Also, who the hell would hire you as a spy. Considering everyone on Amia, including the Green Kin, knows you were hired to spy on them. Makes absolutely no sense that you claim to be a "spy", take "spy" contracts, but everyone knows.

A small note is placed.

Considering you have little clue what a fair price actually is, I find it hard to believe anyone will be able to do so.

We will start with the Cloak of Fortification, tier five. This item is valued at over ten million gold coin, it has sold for over fifteen million.

List it however you wish, but those with an eye for mercantile will know it's true worth. If you truly wish to make a difference you should focus on directly addressing issues rather than bemoaning matters on a message board and assassinating people.

Capitalism is about seeing how much you can convince people to pay for a product that costs little to nothing. If they're willing to overpay, they will.

Posting lists of acceptable prices for items with competitive auctions is a joke. Discipline gloves are as valuable as the bid goes.
