Hey so yea, wish to make a cleric/master scout.Zen shooting, epic spell focused, spotter build. I see this as do-able, though difficult. Just looking for some input from any of you please. Stock human, 25 level of cleric, 5 of scout. Large wisdom score. Nailing the scout prereqs before epic, taking all scout lvl post 20.
Some helpful insights from you helpful builder type folks is what I am hoping for. Thanks in advance, to any brave enough to tackle this even for a moment.

If you can manage 16-18 charisma and nab Divine Might/Shield, it would help you a little bit. That's just at a first glance, though.

Just so i am sure I understand correctly: The bonuses from Mighty Range comes in addition to bonuses from whatever rage you have set your widget to?

Oh, and i'd probably think about taking Zen Archery, Divine Might, Point Blank Shot and Rapid Shot, despite that it's only 3 attacks (maybe consider dropping cleric to 21 to get 4?). Clerics can be nasty archers, even nastier with darts or throwing axes. If you take Epic Mummy Dust on top of that, pve should be a breeze. Hope that helps.

Alright. Worked a version up, Here it is.
25 Cleric(fire/protection domains)5 Master Scout
S 11 D 8 C12 I 16 W 17 C 8
Pre-epic Feats: Martial weapon, Zen Archery, Combat Casting, Extend spell, Spell focus Evo., Gr Focus Evo., Skill focus:spot, Skill focus:listen. Epic feats: EMD, Epic spell focus Evo., Greater Ruin, Epic skill focus: Spot, Prowess, Great Strenght I, Imp. Combat Casting.
Skills: Concentration 33, Craft Trap 2, Discipline 33, Heal 24, Listen 2, Lore 6, Search 4, Set trap 2, Spellcraft 25, Spot 33, Tumble 30.
The last 3 epic feats are gained through Scout and epic cleric. Is combat cast/imp combat casting neccessary? Sure would like to free up those slots. Any and all feedback again is welcomed and encouraged. Thanks.

Str-based Ftr/WM/Rogue Two Bladed Sword Dev Crit feats, WM Feats, EWS, and all 3 Dual Weapon Feats. Lot's of fighter levels to meet feat reqs.
Question on the 2 spare feats I have pre-epic. I can either go KD/IKD or Disarm/Imp Disarm.
Disarm seems like it would be nice in PvM since it's a large sized weapon so he'd get an AB bonus most times and once they are disarmed damage output really drops but it seems to me the number of disarmable opponents out there is sparse. I assume it's verboten PvP although I'm not involved in much of that.
IKD is likely more frequently usable but less likely to succeed and there's an AB penalty rather than a potential bonus (he's medium sized). Duration is one round whereas once they are disarmed they stay that way.
Kinda torn.

Your AB should be high enough to land KDs, which give you a +4 AB until they get back up. That's better than the +1 (I think, never messed with Disarm) you'd get from Disarm.

Disarm is -4 AB to attempt but you get +4 for each weapon size category (larger). So AB bonuses would be -4 to disarm a large weapon, +0 for a medium, +4 for a small, and +8 against a tiny so all those dagger wielding spawns will be real easy to hit.
KD is a straight -4 on all attempts as far as AB goes but the character size affects the discipline check.

Right, but it's +4 while they're prone plus their flatfoot AC which could be a lot.
Personally, I'm horrible at micromanaging things like that, so I don't take feats where I have to click the thing every attack. If Disarm is that much more and you don't have a problem clicking it for every attack, go that route. I think others will say IKD is better, though.

Improved Disarm is better against meleers, IKD is better against sneaks and mages. When you disarm an opponent without Imp Unarmed Attack they provoke attacks of oppurtunity which means you land more damage.

Kinda torn. May want to consider Expertise as well? That extra AC will really help you out is KD or Disarm fail you.

Expertise is a horrible feat. If your running expertise you are doing it wrong because you should be running power attack to finish those evil bastards of faster.

Is there any practical reason to take full ranks in Open Lock and/or Disable Trap on Amia? My utility rogue build (whose build you would cry blood at, having no combat feats or stats) is already hard-pressed for skillpoints at 16 Intelligence and human bonus points. Need to leave Bluff and Persuade to a flavor rank of 10 or something, I guess.

Abyss has the toughest traps I have seen so far, and those that can be disabled my level 22 already managed. That said, on my rogue, I am maxing because of possible events where it might be useful.

Human Rogue/SD 24/6

Alertness Stealthy Dodge Mobility Skill Focus: Spot Skill Focus: Hide Improved Evasion Crippling Strike Weapon Focus: Shortbow Weapon Finesse
Epics: ESF: Spot ESF: Hide EWF: Shortbow Great Dexterity III Epic Dodge
Maximum ranks in: Disable Trap Hide Listen Lore Move Silently Open Lock Search Spot Tumble (well, 30) UMD
The leftovers in Appraise, Bluff and Persuade.
I imagine this will be a sheepish coward who fights at a distance with the shortbow (or maybe sling?). I figure Weapon Finesse is still handy to have when things get rough, even if I won't take any other feats for melee.
Now, I know this is a pretty bad build. I just really want to focus on the utility aspects of the class, and he's a curious information broker to the maximized stealth/detection potential is pretty essential. Besides, Amia isn't very challenging with the bards and melee clerics I've played before. But am I going overboard, or picking some completely useless feats? Are there some must-have rogue feats (for this playstyle) that I have forgotten? Is it really best to focus on Hide and Spot rather than Move Silently and Listen?
tl;dr: any suggestions for improvement, keeping to the theme?
EDIT: Actually, I might have to drop one pre-epic feat for Rapid Reload, since I just realized crossbows are way cooler.

Blindfight is a must. Crippling Strike does not work on bows (or any ranged weapon).

Crippling is at least filthy OP if I ever go melee. Slippery Mind may be handy, though. What should I drop in favor of Blindfight and (maybe) Rapid Reload? The only options are the skill boosters, but I can't really evaluate between Stealthy, Alertness, SF:Spot and SF:Hide. Is the imbalance in favor of the visible end of the stealth/detect spectrum enough to warrant getting less points in favor of a slight increase on the more important side? I'm a little tempted to get some melee combat feats into the build, but I don't know if I'll irreversably damage my stealth/detect potential. Is it really a matter that hinges on one or two points at the top? I mean, I must assume everyone else gets full item bonus and base ranks too, so it's the ones with the feats that come out on top.

Rapid reload is only important if you use a crossbow. I would drop alertness for blindfight and weapon finesse for point blank shot, unless you are set on close combat. If not, crippling strike and opportunist are melee feats, so go slippery mind or skill mastery.
I also noticed you do not have set trap, which is a very nice way for a cowardly rogue to get his way in battle.

It's not like I have Craft Trap either, so I'd rely on finding them in dungeons. I think? But yeah, Alertness for Blind Fight, that much seems simple. I'll probably stall on Weapon Focus until the last moment, so I get to see how he feels and choose between a melee weapon or a ranged weapon. Since his specialty is not in combat anyway, I will probably switch weapons as the situation warrants.

Craft trap is pretty much useless, as you can not create the powerful variety to my knowledge. But the epic traps from the abyss or gauntlet can sting quite a bit.

If you're going to max out your Hide/MS, you may as well take Ranger in epic for another 4 Hide/MS.

Oh right, and while I will miss the Rogue bonus feat, I can take Epic Skill Focus as a general epic feat and take Epic Weapon Focus on ranger level instead. Clever. Unfortunately, that brings the whole Discipline issue into the picture. Damn, why are there so many good skills in this game? I could trim the lore and appraise ranks by half to get one more maxed skill, I suppose. (The character is all about knowledge though, so can't drop Lore entirely.) Epic levels will tell how many Disable Trap ranks I'll ultimately need, too. Enough for Discipline or Set Trap, then.

Swap Awareness for a Skill Focus in Listen and I wouldn't actually have to change anything else about the build. I'd take one ESF and EWF as general feats, and use MS levels for Great Dexterity. And it's a pretty cool class! Would you say Stealthy is better than Skill Focus: Hide? Or should I may ditch Weapon Focus and Epic Weapon Focus, and make up for the latter with Epic Prowess?

But remember, you lose 4 skill points per level due to master scout. 5 levels means you lose 20 there if those were rogue, and 2 per shadowdancer level which are another 12. So with 32 that is a whole skill you will need to drop. So make sure you got enough for those skills you really want, and drop those like bluff or persuade that were secondary choices for leftover skill points anyway.
Hide is something you want the most points in, as spot is where the real danger is. I know quite a few clerics who make sure they got a few juicy points there, while I do recall a lot of characters with high listen scores.

First of all. Hello to you all! As im writing this I suspect i am the newest of newcomers to the server. I didnt really know where to post an introduction so... I look forward to meeting you all.
Anyways, as new as I am to the server, the same goes for my experience with the game, therefore I request a little guidance so that i dont make any terrible mistakes rendering my character useless in combat. So to the point:
Basically what i want to create is an Aasimar Druid. I am not entirely sure what my options are with combat but here are my stats:
Str 8 Dex 14 Con 10 Int 10 Wis 20 (Counting in the racial bonus) Cha 14 (counting in the racial bonus)
Basically my thoughts so far is that I wanted her to be a very competent spellcaster, who is nimble but not very strong. hence the stat choices. I wondered if it is possible to be able to turn into some sort of feline creature(im not sure what shapechange options I have) for close quarters, or alternatively fight perhaps with dual-wield. I dont really like the idea of using a 1h and a shield since I think it wouldnt fit her character.
Im sorry if im asking too much, but I have tried searching around on the internet for quite some time without finding the right answers. She is a neutral good based character so any evil classes dont really fit in.
Basically i need a point in the right direction as to what feats are good to choose, and what options I have, so i dont do something that will ruin the char.
Oh and I am not by any means looking for a perfect build. Just a playable one that wont leave me useless to a group.
Kind Regards.

I'm a filthy spammer who can't make up his mind. But if there's nothing but a brick wall awaiting that PC-run tavern enterprise, I might as well pick up my old adventurer that never got a proper start.
Air Genasi 16/6/7 Rog/Ftr/WM
14 Str 13 Con 19 (26) Dex 6 Wis 14 Int 8 Cha
WF (Handaxe) + EWF WS + EWS Dodge + Mobility + Spring Attack + Expertise + Whirlwind Attack Improved Critical Weapon Finesse Blindfight Knockdown Improved Evasion + Defensive Roll + Epic Dodge Crippling Strike Armor Skin
This is a swashbuckler type of character, so no sneaking involved. Managed to find a sketch of my plans and deduced the rest based on what I picked so far. Still a solid build? Are those dual-wielding gloves/axe still available when I want to swap into flanking DPS mode with a party?
When am I supposed to take my fighter levels, I wonder? At level 3, I am 1/2 Rog/Ftr with WF, Finesse, Dodge, Mobility and Expertise. Do I leave one Ftr for epic or something? Ugh, I really need to test this. Why don't I save my plans when I make them!

Air Genasi 16/6/7 Rog/Ftr/WM
14 Str 13 Con 19 (26) Dex 6 Wis 14 Int 8 Cha
WF (Handaxe) + EWF WS + EWS Dodge + Mobility + Spring Attack + Whirlwind Attack Improved Critical Weapon Finesse Blindfight Knockdown Improved Evasion + Defensive Roll + Epic Dodge Crippling Strike Armor Skin
This is a swashbuckler type of character, so no sneaking involved. Managed to find a sketch of my plans and deduced the rest based on what I picked so far. Still a solid build? Are those dual-wielding gloves/axe still available when I want to swap into flanking DPS mode with a party? I believe the bracers and handaxe (Bracers of the Locking Grip and the handaxe made by the wizard? idk) are still around. At first glance, it looks fine to me as well. WIS is my only concern, and also why 13 CON? Also, Genasi no longer have +1 ecl so you have another level to put somewhere!

Wtf, where should I put that level! Does it open up a better distribution of levels? What's the human version of this build? 13 Con because I have nowhere else to put it, and it gives me an easier time buffing it. (It's not like I will get the max 12 from gear.) 6 Wis because she's a reckless swashbuckler that has a hard time understanding humans and little interest in it. She's the wind, she doesn't stop to contemplate her morning tea like some dirty Earth Gena- ooh, shiny!

Hahaha nice.
Right, so, let's see here. You could probably get away with 13 rogue/6 fighter/13 WM for more AB and swapping the Rogue bonus feat for a WM bonus feat. Alternatively, you can hit 17 Rogue to net Uncanny Dodge V and 9d6 sneak attack.
Human build would be pretty much the same, except you loose the modifiers and INT can be dropped to 12 (to account for the +1 skillpoint/level from race). You certainly won't net that DEX as easily. Plus, Air Genasi are cool.

Stop suggesting 13 WM! It's not worth it in nearly any situation.
13 Rogue/10 Fighter/7 WM for IKD.
17 Rogue/6 Fighter/7 WM for more damage.
I prefer the latter.

int can't drop to 12, it's a weaponmaster, so you need at least 13 int

13 WM really not worth it? 10 Fighter nets 2 extra feats. 13 WM nets one extra (epic) feat and +1 AB, so it's pretty comparable.
I guess the AB is a bit unnecessary without Improved Power Attack, though. I, too, think I prefer the 17 rogue option if WM isn't worth it - IKD isn't as attractive if I have 2d6 less Sneaks, and the skill points will come in handy. (It always seems to be skill points my builds have an issue with.)
I think my 30th level gets me 1d6 more Sneaks if I like. But kinda pointless to plan about that level yet, since I've got it all figured out up to level 29 anyway.
The PC is already made three years ago and I'd rather not make up a new name, so the stats will have to remain as they are. But I'm happy with them, anyhow.

It's very much not comparable when you consider 13 Rogue/6 Fighter/13 WM would need level 32. But, yes, I definitely recommend the 17/6/7. It's fun and easy to level, from 1 to 30.

Nadine wrote: First of all.
If you want to turn into a feline creature the only feasable options are Wild Shape:Panther and Greater Wild Shape:Dire Tiger. Wild Shape (The Druid ability) is very weak compared to other Shapeshifting abilities. Greater Wild Shape requires taking Shifter levels, which weakens your spellcasting dramatically. I don't think either are great ideas. Dual Wield is easily possible if you take a single level in Ranger (And your Armour is light - With 14 Dex and Cats Grace, easily done). However your attack power will be unremarkable with your unremarkable STR/DEX scores, and your Armour Class isn't going to be great either, without a shield or some of the nicer tricks some other classes have available, such as Haste, Bard Song, Divine Shield, or eleventybillion dexterity. A better option is to put that Wisdom score to good use and take Zen Archery, and use your character as a purely Ranged/Support/Healer Caster type. Stay away from trouble and concentrate on helping everyone stay alive. Your Wisdom score will give you a very accurate (but not especially damaging) ranged attack to go along with it. If you have some nice Magic feats like Extend Spell, Maximize Spell....etc, you should work out ok. Of course, with such a high Wisdom score, and lots of Epic Druid bonus feats, you'll probably be able to take Dragon Shape. Which is a bit more....well, Dragons are a bit bigger than Panthers. Even with Aasimar ECL limiting you to 29 levels, with Epic Druid bonus feats I believe it is possible to get both Dragon Shape, and the Epic Summon of your choice. Dragon Shape can take care of business. But until then...close quarters is not the best idea.

If you want to go WM heavy you should either go 16 or 19, 13 is really just not worth it. There's like 5 lvls of nothing between 7 and 13, and those 2 feats from fighter are far better.

Thank you for your reply so far. Does that mean that my dex score is essentially wasted? That is if I take zen archery? Im not sure it matters much because RP wise it fits well with a nimble person; Is there anything special feats I should look for if making a caster druid with en archery? Kind Regards.

Dex Score is never wasted if you wear light armor, you'll have an easier time buffing it for max AC.

Your AB would be higher if you went with zen archery since you need your wisdom score at 20 anyway and could focus on one ability. Nothing is lost however.
Point blank shot, rapid shot, weapon focus, improved critical, blindfight and zen archery at least, if you are going bow. (Zen archery if you have a feat for it and your wisdom is higher than your dex)
If picking up a crossbow, you need rapid reload instead of point blank shot and rapid shot.

Fun fact: you can use heavier armor without penalty to AB as a Zen Archer. It's a Dex penalty, after all. But as a druid, you probably won't be wearing heavy armor anyway.
I would say Point Blank Shot and Rapid Shot are optional. PBS is pretty lame, but unfortunately it's a prereq for the great Rapid Shot. Still, you'll do fine if you can't get them to fit into your build, Zen Archery and Weapon Focus are way more important to you. Your weapon is just a secondary aspect anyway, so be sure to focus on the spell feats you need. You'll want Maximize and Extend Spell, and probably Conjuration focus if you're going for Epic Dragon Knight.
What feats did you already pick? I assume you've made the character, since your stats are locked?
