I have wondered for some time if there are such towns in Amia. They would be the perfect place for water genasi and aquatic elves, who I believe drown if not in water after some time. So I wanted to ask, are there any?

I seem to recall that part of Cordor slipped into the sea during an earthquake or something like that? I'm really not sure, it's just something that's niggling on the edge of my brainpan.

Water genasi don't need water I think, aquatic elves do, as do sahuagin (must be salt water for them, also). Oddly merfolk do not. As far as I know, there are no underwater settlements in the area... there's probably a few across Faerun of course, though I can't think of any. I would love for such a settlement to be founded though, but I think it might be beyond the scope of PC capability. Though not entirely impossible.

It seems really neat if so. Where would the aquatic elf start since it is definately not a surface-dweller? It just seems interesting.

I don't think Winya has much of an aquatic elf presence but there's probably a small area (possibly off-screen?) where they can stay. And then there's the Crystal Lake I believe, and the Nexus Falls/Minmir area.

Aquatic Elves live out at sea. They need ocean water (salt water) to live comfortably. Living in fresh water is very uncomfortable for them and they'll get very tired, physically and mentally, staying in it for long. So yeah, they don't really "live" in Winya. They couldn't do it. The fresh water near Winya is unfit for Sea Elves to live in. Luckily, the ocean isn't very far from Winya though and Sea Elves can survive outside of water for 1 hour per Con point (iirc).

There's not any such areas actually included in the module (to my knowledge), but the Alu-tel'Quessir city of Thunderfoam would be close enough to Amia to serve as a plausible point of origin for PCs. It's a few hundred miles to Amia's northwest, on the floor of the Trackless Sea.

Water Gensai dont really have thier own settlements as they dont work well with other Water Gensai, but they are sometimes adopted into Sahugain or Triton towns/cities

Not sure if you meant me or Halecta, Tormak, but: Demihuman Deities, p.129 wrote: The great city of Thunderfoam is located beneath the waves of the Trackless Sea atop a submerged plateau due north of Evermeet and due west of Uttersea. Steam from great rents in the sea floor warms the frigid waters, rendering the region habitable to the Alu-tel'Quessir.

I dont know about not working well with others of their kind.... but this may help, from Races of Faerun, describing why they may titons and the like.. Quote: Water genasi are patient and independent, used to solving problems on their own and not afraid to take a lot of time doing so. At times they are fierce and destructive like terrible storms, but more often than not they present a tranquil appearance, despite whatever emotions run underneath that quiet surface.
Because their elemental forebear usually has no interest in them, water genasi are often abandoned by their human parents and raised instead by aquatic creatures such as aquatic elves, dolphins, locathah, merfolk, sahuagin, or even aboleths. Water genasi usually leave their parents (real or adoptive) upon reaching maturity, taking to the open sea in order to explore, learn, and develop their own personality and place in the world.
Most water genasi are descended from a water elemental outsider such as a marid (water genie) or triton. A rare few are born of outsider servants of the evil water goddess Umberlee (although it is not known why these matings eventually produce water genasi instead of tieflings). Aquatic elves tell of a lost line of sea-elf planetouched descended from minions of Deep Sashelas, but these are not true water genasi, lacking a genasi’s human heritage.
Water genasi look human except for one distinguishing feature related to their elemental ancestor. Some examples of these features are:
lightly scaled skin clammy flesh blue-green skin or hair large blue-black eyes
Water genasi feel that they are unique and superior to the humans who bore them. They have little or no interest in others of their kind—since they can wander both the land and the seas, they feel there is room enough in the world that water genasi need not crowd each other or even meet. Only in large communities of aquatic elves are two or more water genasi likely to spend much time together.
Water genasi have the same life expectancy and age categories as a human.
..then again this description is that of human water genasi only. I would suppose the traits listed would also be represented on members of other races since this is a universal subrace?
