If any of you Fungineers have a spare minute, and is willing to discuss some druidic ideas via PM/Tells with me, could you drop me a line?
Thank you =)

This forum is more for asking questions/discussion of lore than requesting DMs to talk to you. So, if you want to have this treehuggy discussion here, ask your questions. Otherwise, I'mma move this topic out of here.

I'll bring this thread back up to relevance.
Do Aurilites (druids and non-druids) cook their food? Do they seek out shelter and warmth when not preaching her tenets? Warmth and stuff seems to be a pretty essential thing to have in order to survive.
The way I see it (and I could very well be completely wrong) is that they do those things, and their method of preaching is more cautionary. Such as "If you don't pray/make offerings to her, she'll turn you into a popsicle." or "You should probably give her lipservice if you want any crop yield this fall." kinds of things. This would mean that they understand that warmth, shelter, and all that good stuff is necessary for survival, but so is keeping the Frostmaiden at bay. They might strike a small fire to cook their food, then extinguish it immediately after. They might even punish themselves afterward somehow.
The issue, though, is that her dogma seems to indicate that survival is possible without those basic necessities. Her dogma reads like a "Let's kill everything and make the world an icy still-life portrait." It's almost as nihilistic as Shar.
I don't need help roleplaying my character, but I would like a little clarification on whether those things are acceptable/expected.

I was always under the impression that they were either gifted with the ability to ignore non-magical cold. Or they use spells to survive without warmth. That it's how i always rationalized it when i read about them in books.

Yeah like Talonite priests and druids are protected against the diseases they actually carry in their body. Thy spread them but they do not succumb to them.
It would be the same for Aurelites. They still feel the cold but it does not kill them for they honor her in her domain.

Warmth and stuff seems to be a pretty essential thing to have in order to survive. I think it's up to you to choose what you want to do but the dogma does say this "Cover all the lands with ice. Quench fire whenever it is found. Let in the winds and the cold; cut down windbreaks and chop holes in walls and roofs that my breath may come in." If it was me, I would be vegetarian or eat raw meat. Amarice-Elaraliel wrote: It would be the same for Aurelites. They still feel the cold but it does not kill them for they honor her in her domain. I don't think they have immunities to cold. From the entry on page 91 of Faiths and Pantheons I'd say it only looks that way because only the strong are able to get spells from her.

Clerics and powerful servants of Auril would have some means of surviving without warmth or withstanding the cold. Most worshipers would probably have to cling to a priestess for blessings/magic items in order to survive and continue worship, probably hoping to become popsicle-people in order to properly venerate her.
The majority of her "worship", as with other gods of fury and certain other nasty gods, likely comes from non-followers who do things to appease her in order to not die.
As for their diet... I think meat can be cured and eaten without cooking it but I don't know anything about making food. Well, sashimi on the other hand would work quite well.

I didn't say they have immunity against cold.
I said they could bear living in it without dying. That's something else than standing in a cone of cold and taking no damage.
They make themselves resistant against the cold, hardning themselves with rites as described in what you posted there.
Also Auril would not even want them to be immune. They should feel the cold clutching at their heart and bones. They just would not simply all die from it, because that would be no use for the Forst Maiden. They can bear it. They can still feel it. But due to honoring and serving her they can withstand it.
Though mind, until they have prooven their worth to the Ice Goddess, I am fairly sure some die.
Many followers of Auril (just as Umberlee, Talos and Talona) oftena ren't devote servants either. They worship her out of fear to not die of the ice and snow if they live in such climates.
The ones who can withstand her wrath and live completely without warmth would be very devote followers I'd imagine who spent their lives trainign to last in her domain and serve her absolutely. Not the occasional prayer wo honors her once a month.
If you go cleric of Auril on Amia you can even Symbolize this nicely if you want:
Domains: Air Cold Destruction Evil Suffering Water
Water: Immunity Increase vs Cold, 20% + cleric levels
Sadly druids gain no bonuses from the god domains though.

Faiths & Avatars states they are immune to natural cold: Quote: All clerics, specialty priests, and shamans of Auril receive religion (Faerunian) as a bonus nonweapon proficiency. Upon being Embraced by the goddess, clerics of Auril become immune to natural cold damage and the effects of exposure. And further, on adventuring garb: Quote: Adventuring Garb: When adventuring, most priests of Auril wear at least the circlet, the belt, and the ice axe with their normal day-to-day clothes. Since they are immune to the effects of cold, they usually wear only what clothing they think enhances their appearance, not necessarily what others are wearing for the weather. They never encumber themselves with excessive clothing or large sleeping bundles, preferring to travel light for maximum mobility.

There's plenty of food an Aurilite could make without lighting a fire (or stealing someone else's lunch). There's salted meat, pickled foods, raw and dried fruits, vegetables, nuts, berries and grains...
... butter...
And that's not even mentioning the number of dishes that use raw meat and fish, like beef tartare or sushi. Hell, there's no reason they couldn't just magic up an Ironguts and eat their kills fresh.

All of those are things I considered and use. I was mostly curious about what was acceptable.
The 2e entry that IronAngel cited was good. I looked in F&P but didn't consider F&A.

This is the F&A entry in its entirety. Some things may be out-of-date, but the one in question is obviously just a detail that was omitted for space and simplicity: http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/humangods/Auril.htm
