I'm assuming this won't be fixed until after the weekend, given the people that are hosting probably aren't at work during the weekend?

Why oh why doesn't the chicken have his own box, in his own place, with it's own cooling system, and upgraded bandwidth (probably business class) internet connection?

;( - what is money an issue? Private bandwidth of that size not available there?

....if he had his own setup, then Amia isn't relying on 'other people' anymore. -and this neverrr happensss again. (even if it breaks, oh lookie, it's in his living room or w/e, quick email to the chicken and it's fixed in like a day or less).

Many people are just waiting to click a donate button to make this happen.

If they wish to take that course of action, (yay), out with the financials, price the gear, set the goal needed to raise in addition to previous funds. Then price the recurring increased cost of upgraded internet.

They said previously money wasn't an issue, but if it's for upgrades, I'd say let's see what needs ta happen to get Amia up and stable.

It does beg the question though, where exactly IS the server?

Just some notes from my end.

The server never stopped working for me, however Direct Connect stopped working. I can however connect to the server using the list from Favourites or History.

Ontario, Canada. Bell Sympatico. Works with and without NWNCX.

Now, what's particularly weird is the servers should be showing up on IP 185.29.203.11
Check out the IP and port they're showing up for me as:

AmiaA shows up as 185.29.203.8:61586
and
AmiaB shows up as 185.29.203.8:40651

When I click on "Server Details", the Game Type, Server Version, and Description panel continually say "waiting..."

What's even more baffling is that 185.29.203.8 doesn't exist in my history or favourites in the nwnplayer.ini

Here's what I actually have:
Favourites:
Server1=185.29.203.11:5121
Server2=185.29.203.11:5122
History:
Server8=185.29.203.11:5122
Server10=185.29.203.11:5121

So! What's even more crazy? While I was making this thread and wanting to test Direct Connect with the different IP/Port, the ports for AmiaA and AmiaB changed again! It seems like the originals are auto-directing me to the new ports. (That is, when my game sees 185.29.203.11:5121, it updates it automatically to 185.29.203.8:NewPort#).
Other people's connections not being able to do this may be the cause of why only a select few can connect.

AmiaA port became 24086
AmiaB port became 15311

I CAN successfully direct connect to 185.29.203.8:24086. However, once that port number changes again, which it seems to do frequently, I can only direct connect under the new port number.

Will this help any of you? No clue! It feels like it's a DNS thing or.. some redirection thing on the host's side that isn't being properly sent out/translated by other ISPs or Network Hubs.

I'll post again if I find out anything more.

TRY THIS AND REPLY!

Direct Connect to 185.29.203.8:24086

I'll update this thread with any new port numbers I notice so it's as up to date as possible so people can try and see if this works!

Yeah, but I would need a number because my funds are rather limited and I'd rather not go monty haul we don't need to.

That being said, if The Pheasent lord needs tribute from his following a seperate thread would be best. I suggest the inclusion of some tenets of faith as well.

I'm in US in Oklahoma if this helps.

I finally was able to get in. Right after reset I copied the IP off the Menu into nwnplayer.ini in the favorites section.

185.29.203.11:5121

Opened up the game and Amia showed up in Favorites list. Server Details had a different IP though. I'll go ahead and post it since I'm running a wired router on DSL. Maybe this will make a difference to some. I don't remember seeing this port posted yet but I could have missed it if it was.

That's exactly what I asked the hoster. Waiting for a reply, and I am getting seriously annoyed by now. Already looked around and there are two hosters closer to my home which are in the current price range. But still, if I don't know how to get to the machine I can't do anything at all.

Why don't I know where the server is? Well, it's a combination of things. First of all: our hoster rents data centers from Datahouse, which went bust. That's what the original topic is about. I still don't know if it was moved or not, and where to if it was. Communication isn't what we call smooth. Besides, the hoster got a new name (which I found out when going to their website) and a new account system, so I can't log in there. As long as I got the bills, and the machine worked I didn't mind too much, but now it's a bit of a bummer. Used to have a 'handy man' there, who apparently doesn't work there any more. Hope to be enlightened tomorrow.

Time to do the Dutch thing. Dig deeply into your comsumer rights and demand, annoy, harras them and get your legal insurance to make threats for ever last cent you can get back over this.

P.S. I hope this doesn't have anything to do with CSV Networks, now that I'm looking for some hosting myself.

If the server machine is unattainable, is there backup of the Amia module info to put on a new machine?

I went to Arelith twice. Once a while back after playing Amia because I wanted to see what the 'old server' was like. I stayed for a few minutes.

Then I played with a friend for about a week. Stayed in the UD. It was immersive enough, at least.

ridiculously slow leveling system is the wrong word it's more like a none exsistend leveling system and lets not mention there spell duration....or there RP rewards --> more xp per reward, so if your always online when there aint a dm on your screwed.
Do they seriously exspeckt you to have no life and spend 24/7 on there server to achieve lvl 4?

Not to mention the idea that in Arelith, Earl Manfried was able to destroy Kohlingen and Benwick is still shining. Stonehold remained Stonehold and it still exists.

Honestly...I just restarted the single player campaign :D it is fun with the paladin mount now

Been hanging out on Arelith myself and I don't see the big deal with the slow leveling to be honest. I much prefer hardcore rules and having the time to RP as well as have that RP affect your build. That being said, I hate hate hate the food/water/rest requirements. No limit on resting for the most part but hey, I'm out in the middle of the woods and might get attacked but let me just take off my armor so I can take a cat nap? Grrr...Anyhow.. Arelith is fine but yeah... want my Amia back... badly T.T

It's not a stupid question, but the server is available (these pages run from it), it's just that there's some kink in the cable for nwn itself. Besides, I guess $1000 for a new server is worth a few days of patience.

My plan of attack: Tomorrow I am busy herding 7 year olds, so I won't be able to do much about this anyway. I need to get in contact with the hoster first, otherwise I can't even collect the machine. That's the patience bit. Once I get hold of the hoster I hope we can sort out this shit and continue as we did before. If not, I'll collect the server and move it to a new data center and hosting company. Unfortunately I don't have a car or driver's licence, so I am a bit dependent on other people for this. All in all, I suspect that this may last the week, unless the hoster unfucks itself.

You can get to level 20 on Arelith in about 10 days, not to difficult. The problem is 99.9% of all plots are player drivin, the DMs dont really do any plots except for once in a blue moon.

I can't see any of my old favorites. That being said, is it just an issue with Amia or gamespy in general. And yes, Disco, you are the King.

All hail Disco!! All hail Disco!!!!

The lack of a server list is due to Gamespy no longer hosting a master server. But Amia is being funky because of the host, or at least that's Disco's theory from what I gather. Don't take anything I say as word of god though, I don't know much.

Looks like we here in Ontario are privileged. I'm also on Bell in Toronto and am able to log in to A through Favourites or History at 185.29.203.8:21020 though, like Grymia, I time out when I try and sail to B.

I saw Amarice & several others on this morning, but it's pretty sparse. I guess I'll go try Minecraft for a bit.

I'm in Barrie, Ontario...and I'm SOL with logging in :( That IP looks different though, so I'll give that a whirl.

Edit: No bones. Still can't log in :(
