Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I've noticed

Left -> Right and Top -> Bottom, It will search any bags it runs into on this pattern.

I've had it automatically take arrows out of bags, rather than one from out in my normal inventory, since the bag with arrows was on the top left of my inventory.

Anyone else notice this?

Yes. Last time this happened to Kaithan, the game brain skipped over stacks and stacks of arrows on page 1 of her inventory, and started pulling arrows from closed bags on page 4 of her inventory. So you're suspecting that if I keep my preferred arrows in a bag on the top left of inventory page 1, I won't have that problem again? Because that would be kind of awesome.

Ammunition chosen from the inventory is actually functionally random. However, it will tend to -prefer- stacks of ammunition that were recently moved. I always "wiggle" several stacks of ammo that I intend to use, and it's been fairly reliable. ammo can be quickslotted, too, if you have spare slots.

That's been about the only tendency I've noticed; That it uses the last moved stack.

I wish there was a way to increase the quiver size, without increasing the arrow stack size. being able to drop 999 arrows in the quiver to be used would make this less of an issue.

NWN seems to always chooses a stack that you have equipped at some point since you logged in, in the order that you equipped it. I have had a near 100% success rate with this method, (I played an AA for ages and this method has never failed me to my knowledge). When you log in or go on a hunt, cycle-equip every stack of arrows you plan to use and it will auto-equip one of those stacks again when you run out of ammo.

Once you run out of cycle-equipped arrows, it chooses 'randomly' again. If you log out or crash you'll need to cycle-equip your arrows again, so don't forget!

Not so much a question as a "this thing is bugging me", but... apart from the elemental lords (who don't really count, as they represent their own extremes) the only True Neutral druid deities are Silvanus and Sheela Peryroyl. Furthermore, there's only one LN and one CN, Ulutiu and Fenmarel Mestarine, respectively.

Compare this to the seven Evil deities and twenty-one Good deities. It just strikes me as odd, when the class (and nature in general) is supposed to be TN.

They're meant to have at least one aspect of their alignment in neutrality, demonstrating some level of dispassion or detachment or whatever. But while druids are protectors of nature, preserving balance requires equilibrium, and equilibrium requires forces counteracting other forces. The nature of humans, and PCs in particular, is to act, and gods as well have their agendas.

That and well FR gods have been borked forever. Way too many, but you can't just kill a bunch of them or it cheapens the setting.

does ghoul touch deny the recepient of their spellcraft bonus?

is it worth taking over say iron horn for a sorc with only spell focuses in necromancy?

any benefit to ghoul touch whatsoever?

Doesn't deny spellcraft saves, no.

It's useful but Freedom's easier to get than immunity to being knocked down, so that's why people tend to go with The Horn.

So if a character says "I will rape you with your own femur." he's breaking the rules, according to the new line of censorship we got overnight. Because if one DM said something is forbidden then it's against the rules until the team says otherwise. That's pretty obvious, regardless of the "This is only my opinion." Let's not forget the First rule of D&D: A DM is always right. Now, like in the first rape-related thread I'll ask the same question, but with more seriousness since it could now mean the difference between breaking the rules and not breaking the rules.

..is it against the rules to say "I will stick this halberd up your butt."? Or something similar?

I just don't want to find someone offended and accusing me of insinuating a rape scenario if one of my characters issues a threat which involves a forceful insertion of various objects up someone's bodily cavities (because that's what rape basically is). Let's face it, sticking objects up someone's ass is a fun and widely used threat.

It was made very, explicitly clear in that thread that the opinions there were not rules. They were people's opinions on how to RP with compassion to other RPers.

Dead, it was also made abundantly clear that you won't get in trouble for a singular statement.

You will, however, get in trouble if a player in that situation asks you to stop, because it that terminology is making them uncomfortable and you persist along with heavy hints at that topic despite this.

Essentially, Don't be rude about it if they ask you politely to stop, Respect your fellow player's lives and feelings-- we're all here to escape from our daily lives and don't need or want a reminder of trauma. And while we aren't going to censor the word any more than it already has been in the rules (that have not been changed) as a blanket statement, simply be respectful to your fellow player.

EDIT: I'm not going to be responding any further to this topic and urge others not to as well; this is not the place to continue rehashing a debate that has since been closed.

Who knows, Dead. Perhaps threatening to impale someone with our weapons, which many piercing weapons are used for, will result in our permanent banishments, if our characters threaten someone who is offended by violence. Or absolutely nothing, depending on who we encounter.

Still. Impaling is boring, unless a Mage impales themself with the sharp end of their staff to perform some blood ritual. There are more colorful threats out there.

"Once I kill you, I'll raise your corpse, and force you to tear yourself apart!"

If you are overly graphic about the act of killing someone, then yes, you can get into trouble because that falls under the 'gory' RP.

But, it varies from player to player. Some are fine with it, others far, far less so.

I must've overlooked it then and understood it wrong. So far, when a DM said something, it's was pretty much a rule. But since a DM said it doesn't apply this time.. then I guess the DM is right again. All clear. Thank you for your attention.

I think DMs have taken to specifically making it obvious if something is a DM ruling over a DMs preference or opinion. Typically a DM ruling is followed by marking it out in a big red square from what i've seen.

Why is this a conversation still? Just don't be a jerk, we have people on the server who are sensitive and I happen to know your vocabulary is awesome.

Amia is a video game and video games aren't democratic, nor do you have a right to free speech on Abby other online community with any credibility. Censorship of inappropriate is older than the internet and moderation even more so.

Just be nice to people.

The conversation is going on because, for one reason or another, people feel the need to still talk about it. I feel Letum's thread didn't need to be locked as it just moved the conversation here. Now people are scared shitless to bring it up again, and having a DM say it was time to talk it through assured people a safe environment in which the conversation could ensue. I was about to post a perfectly reasonable and lengthy response to Strikeclone about the importance of the feminist watchword "check your privilege", which is fundamentally an exercise of conscious empathy and how it connects to the rule being enforced and endorsed by Letum. It's silly we couldn't be given even two full pages without being chaperoned.

Rape was not the only thing that got censored. Discussions are often getting censored as well on a whim. Opinion of one group of people matters, while the other group of people cannot speak their mind because a single person (admittedly a DM) decides that nobody else should say anything. And here I thought that each and every player has an equal right to say what they think. Locking the thread before there is a really good reason to do so brings more harm than good. It is called "general DISCUSSION". It's not called "general IT-WILL-BE-LOCKED". The mere fact that there are several posts starting with "Before this gets locked.." proves that we are not talking about the secluded cases of premature thread locking. We are talking about minutes before a DM who doesn't like it logs on.

Now this is a General Questions thread, and my spider senses are tingling because I already see someone saying "This is going off-topic, can it.". And my spider senses are tingling even more because I have the feeling that if someone dares to open a thread and discuss the issue of premature thread locking (and mentions the R-word), the thread will prove the point and get locked. And then nobody else will ever dare to reopen that can, because the banhammer/forum warning will be hanging in the air. Is that the kind of General Discussion forum we have?

When words like femanazism shows up it is a clear cut deal that the thread has served its purpose, falling under Godwin's law.

Also, next question!

Threads aren't getting locked because they have divergent opinions. They're getting locked because of the tone of their contents. That's not censorship, that's forum moderation. You're dismayed by the number of "in before the lock" posts? I'm dismayed by the number of "I'm surprised this thread actually remained civil, thanks guys" posts.

So one player writes something that can be considered inappropriate and nobody else gets to say what they think? Because like Opustus said, there is a lot of people who think there are things to be said, some of them will be more constructive than the others. Silencing the community like that is not the right thing to do. There are measures other than thread locking for those who step out of the line. Locking does not mean forum modding. Locking is the polar opposite - being powerless to mod it, and therefore having to terminate it.

But I guess I'll stop ranting here before I get modded too. Just think about what I've just said the next time you think it's totally alright to silence us all.

Yes. In exchange for the privilege of participating in a community of people who are required to respect each other, you will occasionally have to suffer the injustice of not being able to type words on the internet. It's not fair, I know, but it's necessary.

How horrible is a 40% multiclass penalty starting around level 20?
Also, totally unrelated, does levelling with DCs require more DCs if you have a multiclass penalty?

Thanks!

It's pretty icky and will almost double the time you have to slog through trying to level. DCs will not be affected by the multiclass penalty though.

It wouldn't be so horrible starting at level 20. You can at least start hitting some higher end stuff then. Before that, yeah, it's god-awful. But you can make it work starting out that late in the level progression.

Is the color which Amia's emote scripts uses to call out emotes customizable? Maybe it's just something about my monitor, but the pale blue it's currently using is barely distinguishable from the plain white of regular conversation.

I don't think that is there, but I know there is a way to filter party chat and so on into different colors. Maybe it's something that can be done just on your side, but I don't know how to fiddle that.

Yeah, I've edited my .ini files to make my other colors all customized to be more legible and distinct from each other.

I guess I could do that again, to make the plain while of regular text more distinct from that pale blue, rather than altering the pale blue.

the save is once per round correct?

This is from the nwn wiki so hope it is right :)

Quote:
The grapple check used to determine whether or not a tentacle hits a target is as follows:
1d20 + caster level (to a maximum of 20) + 4(tentacle's strength modifier) + 4(tentacle's size modifier) versus
1d20 + base attack bonus + strength modifier + size modifier.

That being said, those are about the only things left in common with the current NWNwiki version. With the 1.69 Patch, they fixed the problem with the lumping damage that we fixed ourselves back in like 1.68(and didn't document, unfortunately). It's something like it does 50% of the maximum calculated damage, but it's confusing either way.

Quote:

It does apply Conj Focuses to the paralyze check I believe, but conjuration + duration + AoE spells are notorious for dropping off bonuses over time. Blame Bioware.

The grapple check and save are once per round, correct.

That's what Goebbels said!

But seriously, I wouldn't be worried about this if it hadn't become a trend. Internet anonymity and composing your thoughts well in text stymie the chances of having a civil internet conversation, but I don't see why insulting and frothing at the mouth have to be such terrifying things. When you are talking about something important to you, people's feelings are bound to get hurt because of how strongly we react. But without interaction there can be no understanding, especially about the difficult stuff we strongly disagree on. I'd like this forum also to serve as a forum for moral, political, religious, and so on, topics, as it has before without any glaring scandals. Locking a topic because someone utters "feminazi" is counterproductive to the person's understanding of why he or she shouldn't use that word. But I guess we fundamentally disagree on the nature of our forum, and maybe on what lays the foundations for a productive conversation.

Honestly though, when the forums just sort of turn into a battle field it isn't fun to read as a player, and it's discouraged me from logging in in the past when I read all of that stuff. With that in mind I can certainly see why threads are getting locked myself.

Something that has been bugging me: Are we adding Anubis to the list of deities (eventually)? There's been a lot of talk about him even though he's never been part of the Faerunian pantheon (ie he didn't come with the rest of the ancient Egyptians from Earth). So he this going to be a new Mulhorandi deity?

I've been curious about that myself, for exactly the reason you cite, Naivy, and also that anyone in Amia getting spells from Anubis has a whooooole lot of really, really awful IC history to contend with. The Anubis known on Amia is very not the contemplative philosophical LN deity described in Deities & Demigods.

Naivy, Anubis was added as a result of IG events and plots. And yeah, there's a lot of history of there, but the truth of the matter is better discovered IC because our characters shouldn't have objective knowledge of it anyway.

My Mulhorandi, Salema, was part of the Anubis plot, so she knows about it but I wasn't sure if he was actually able to be worshiped in the deity field or not.

Yep, find the Mulhorandi IG and ask. But ICly, he's (functionally) the same LN Anubis in deities and demis. He's very misunderstood :P

Similar question - how do I collect those tears? I think I found one (weirdly frozen something on ground) but I could not interact with it anyway... I could just attack it and break it. Or did I found something else?

Honestly though, when the forums just sort of turn into a battle field it isn't fun to read as a player, and it's discouraged me from logging in in the past when I read all of that stuff. With that in mind I can certainly see why threads are getting locked myself.

Sorry you feel this way, Bob. I thrive in battle, which makes it hard for me to empathize with people with your temperament. But I still steadfastly believe that there is more to be gained than lost in being the occasional bastard to incite conversation, despite a total lack of grace.

This is no longer about that conversation. Or it is about that conversation, but it isn't -that- conversation as the topic hasn't been so much as mentioned in my previous post. But this isn't the place to discuss this, whatever it is that we were discussing. Sorry!
