Because more people read the PC notice board than the PC Character Stories board. And i think it also feels more 'open' where it is. As opposed to coming across as exlusive as most pc stories are.

PC Stories is for individual characters' stories, in my observation. The Eilie Shrine thread is an open thing for anyone to post in, whereas a player's writeup of their own character is their own thread.

Really? Then the descriptions under each are a little misleading surely? The PC notice board says it's for IC announcements.

Does the quality of weapons made with the job system affect their properties? For example, a sword made of cold iron that is "good" quality has a bonus vs. fay of +1. If it is "very good" quality, does it have a bonus vs. fey of +2?

Question: Is this page accurate for heights of the races? http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/SRD3e:Age, ... %26_WeightI know we don't roll for random heights and whatnot, just curious, since VERY few people on Amia seem within the average heights listed, most are taller than the maximum, that I've seen. I mean... there's no mechanical advantage to saying you're 7 feet tall, any more than there is to saying you're 3 feet tall (both human), it's just... canon lore, just sayin'. Anyway, didn't mean to turn this into a bitch! Just saw it and wondered. I made Nyssa 5'4" and figured that was average/short for an Elven female, turns out, the real average for Elven female is more like 5'2". Anyone?

I've also think I've seen the same question answered somewhere in case I'm wrong! Think it may have been the general questions as well. Anyway hope that helps!

Bows don't follow this for the most part. Ash and yew wood only give +1 when the quality is very good or higher I think but you need 2 job ranks. However Ironwood gives +1 across the board so long as you have a job rank! A very good duskwood bow gets 40% weight reducing while an excellent one gets 20%. A very good darkwood bow gets piercing damage while an excellent one gets slashing. By and large though, strictly speaking, all are rather poor because you need at least two ranks in the job to get the very good bows and three ranks to get an excellent one... by which point you can buy better bows than you can enchant one you've made! So far this applies to short/longbows, light/heavy crossbows... I haven't made a sling yet though. To be honest with bows so common it is a little pointless making them OOCly though an excellent heavy crossbow made from duskwood only weighs 1.2 rather than the usual 9! heh ... but your probably not making bows right! lol

I don't know about other items, but I know books sell for more to Book merchants depending on their quality. Maybe it's the same with others and quality = more GP.

Weapon Merchant doesn't buy bows and stuff? Maybe there's a specific merchant for ranged weapons. There's certainly one that buys them, at least on B, when you look through the stocks.

Both bowyers I use are on A but the merchants nearby are melee merchants and don't take bows! lol Edit So looking at that, someone certainly buys them. Seems a long way to go ICly just sell bows though lol

I can't remember, but is there a way to turn off weapon vfx, like Flame Weapon? Can a toggle be made that does that? Sort of a widget that grants you a specific weapon skin (without vfx) that covers the base weapon, or some other way.

Why would your flaming weapon not be WYSIWYIGly on fire anyway?

I am fine with wysiwyg, but quite a few weapons in game are different in size, which makes the VFX float beside the weapons blade for example, sometimes far off. By no means does it look natural or good. Personally I'd love to use some of the newer weapon looks, without being "punished" and I bet others feel the same.
Mostly I'm interested in the options, if it can be done.

There's a "no VFX" option in the toolset where you can make it so a weapon does not show a VFX. So while there isn't a widget where you can toggle it off of the actual Flame Weapon Spell, you can request that a specific weapon not show flames(or any VFX) when the spell is cast onto it. It was probably intended to be used with some of those weirder-shaped weapons. I'm not sure if it would cost DC, but probably no more than 1 I'd think, and you'd get a custom description and such along with it.

What is the current rate to level with DCs? Still 4 DCs per level as in the sidebar? Were only the rebuilds made cheaper a while ago?
Thanks! Ts

Does an amia module require a specific hak order? I noticed that no placeables are appearing in the custom section, even though we have many CEP ones in the haks. Am I doomed to simply change each placeable by item appearance for eternity?

Those are all the files that should be with the existing hak If you were missing any of them from your computer you wouldn't be able to login to Amia. Exception being the music and skyboxes, naturally. Those were optional.

Crafting has always been a nemesis for the realization of my PC concepts. For me, it's -so- cumbersome and complicated to find the right parts. I never ever do it for this reason, but I see lots of PC's with amazing gear, so I know it's possible to craft without going insane. And by crafting I mean changing the appearance of clothing/armor, gear, changing sleeves, boots, etc... those kinds of things. Not mythal crafting to add powers to gear, I get that.
Are there any crafting guides, that show all the available parts by category with a pic and corresponding number, or any other guides along that line? A visual table I think would be most helpful to me. Kind of like we have for heads.
Any other helpful hints or ideas on how to handle basic crafting are appreciated.

Load the haks into a module in the toolset and fool around with the armors and items there. That's what I would suggest. Once you know what you're looking to make, the appearance crafting isn't bad at all.

Besides Dark's suggestion which is a huge time saver, I always do it, if you don't have time to open up the toolset just go to http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Dye_kit the dye chart wiki page and you can kind of start to memorize the color chart For armor parts and colors I use a lot or really like, I make a note in my PC journal what # they are.

Just open up the toolset and play with it. You can craft anything into anything there. And with few exceptions, the same is possible in game. Chest pieces on armor are not always available (depends on the kind of base armor) and some outrageous helmets aren't either. But all boots, gloves, ... on any other parts of the body than the chest are available, I think.

Start nwtoolset.exe (next to nwmain.exe). It should welcome you with some box where you can choose to create a new module. Give it a name, I usually use the charactes's name for it, that I want to design clothes for. A screen appears where you can add areas. Do so. Create a smallish area, in a tileset that's suitable for your character (or whatever ;). Now finish the wizard and you have an empty module with one area, where you will be able to put creatures and dress them up. But first you need to add the hak files: Choose the menu "Edit" -> "Module Properties". A new window pops up. Select the "Custom Content" tab. Check here for what it's supposed to look like: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83281The drop down box below the big white box let's you select a hak from your NWN installation. Then "add" it to the list above it. You have to add a lot of files here to make a module resemble Amia, and the order is also important. Richard_Edmund posted the list a few posts up, but I'm using the one from the link. Also choose the "custom tlk file" in the lower right corner. It should be amia_tlk_v3c. That's it. Save and reload the module, and go nuts with crafting! For that, open your area from the tree on the left. Then add an NPC from the list of objects on the right. Choose the "Select Objects" (Stonehenge) selection tool from the toolbar. Then you can right click on a creature, see it's inventory, and right click on clothes in there to edit their appearance. Hope that helps! Ts

So i messed up and made a portrait with Cap letters in it, and now renamed it lower case and sent it to the Amia Portrait pack fella. Was wondering if Dm's would be able change out my portraits or if i'm screwed?

There's a fancy portrait name changer in the maintenance room now.

What sources do people use for the snip its of elven and drow language I witness being used in game by their characters? Is one source valued over another?

I think that phrases in quenya are all the same on every web you find. Drow stuff is I think similar. (I can't send you mine, unless you speak Czech )

For Drow: http://www.eilistraee.com/chosen/language.phpAs for elven, I don't know. The one I just linked for Drow is the more popular, but I think there are other ones out there.
