I got a similar question, although a bit tweaked. I have a BC that is Budly Bundlys daughter. If I one day decide to kill him, have him die when he falls in battle in some important event or something. Can I play that his daughter inherit his items? I do not mean the full inventory but the "token" nostalgic items that has no stats or powers but just are there for the fun of it, like broken phylacteries and such? And his DC items? I understand if it might be to powerful on low levels but Amia got lvl locked items.

I guess I could just buy them again but I just want the legacy feeling, the feeling of persistancy. I understand the trouble if people would abuse this system to just rebuild their character from scratch and just say "But this is his brother/sister/mother/uncle/dog companion" who got his items.

I support passing on of legacy items to other family.... It's cool rp when done right.

Yeah, I try to bring her out now and then to deepen the RP a bit. I an contemplating replacing Budly with her eventually, either kill him, retire him or have him go home with his blessings to Ra'eldra Bundly to take up the "mantle (and sword)" after his time has come to an end.

Powerwise, it'd be the same as Budly going back to level one. Or having a good buddy with a lot of money.

I know someone who might help with Budly's demise if you wanted some rp to go with it.

I tend not to agree with passing on items which have a power and are not simply RP items. I don't have an issue handing over my characters weapon to a daughter or whatever BUT it should be a ln RP item with no power but a cool, RP relevant description
If I buy a DC item for Shana that is her item and it wouldn't feel right just handing it off to another of my characters, certainly without incurring a relevant DC cost!!

Atleast let me have it broken in two or something and maybe I can "repair" it later on with DCs to buy a new copy. A lot of my DC items are meaningful to my character. A family heirloom blade, A "legendary" shield that been handed down from an old Hin hero I made up on the spot and a ring forged by his Clan hearing of his demise full months on Amia to protect Budly. These have meaning to the family itself. My characters might start out thin as paper at times but I like to build them up over time and give meaning to them.

I think this is what makes our NWN servers different from MMOs, my hunter in WoW can run around with the Thas'dorah, the Windrunner heirloom and legacy bow. And the Windrunners will just be like "Oh my our family bow, don't RUIN -OUR- legacy". But here we can make it meaningful atleast. Budly dying to Roach for example in a fight, can have his blade retrieved by his daughter which swear vengeance on Roach and then goes to reforge the blade to assassinate the crapper out of Roachs friends. For example. Be it 15 DLC, tons of RP and what else, I simply want that feeling of continuation. :)

Well, being naive is stupid. Knowingly, allies of someone you want to kill will come to get you or murder others. It is a "good" deed to stop as many as possible or a way to bring em out. I never liked the alignment system. It locks people into this forced narrative where an evil person needs to kick the puppy and where the good needs to pet the puppy always. If you catch my drift.

But it isn't an item for the player but a specific character and usually set for that characters needs. I think some might feel cheated if someone rolls a new character as a 'relative' of an old one and inherits some of their high tier things. We are not meant to mule items to other characters and technically this is the same without penalty.

That however is just my feeling on it, if it did happen there should be a heavy cost to it or at least for it unless the item is literally reduced to an RP item until such time as they pay to upgrade it to match their current characters needs.

Well, wanting to kill people isn't "good", it's generally evil. Killing their friends to get to them is really evil. Purporting to want a VERY rp server and saying you ignore the alignment system makes my eyes boggle. Just... contradictions... I don't get it is all.

That technically depends on the individual Drow I think and how far out of the dark they choose to come heh

I have never supported Alignment, I find it a silly notion that good often have to react and cannot act. Even when it is obvious that faction X is doing something, then Y can just sit by and wait until they do something evil to react? May I kill a demon or do I need to wait for it to burn down a village?

When it is obvious that, in Roach example. She and her compatriots are evil, I think it is free game to hunt them, especially when Budly in this example we had, been cut down and butchered by her. I do not really think there is a good aligned Sunite in the midst of them playing on the harp, killed by mistake if the scenarios comes to a very angry Drowling going berserk among them and somehow over powers them all.

The Alignment system is more a system that blocks RP than produces, So to me, a system where there is non is in my opinion more open for more flavourful RP than one bound to a system basically made for clerics and Paladins along with some other classes on the lawful-chaotic spectrum. I do have to play along on Amia of course, I take the evil points when I get them If I do something the DMs think is evil. I still want a very RP heavy server.

EDIT: As Walnut said, often the priestess might be following the dogma as far as possible while just one who see her as their diety they pray to might be bad at all of them. Perhaps they only picked up on the Swift Justice part. EDIT: Swift Violence I meant! As Walnut put it.

Eilistraee is neutral I think and not outright good. There is always that little line in her dogma about an attack one is an attack on all and violence is met with swift violence in return.

That makes me ask another question. Gods who can have those from Good to Evil, with one variation of the Chaotic or Lawful alignment as the only blocker....I mean they must be okay then with one murderin a foe, one subdueing and one doing something in between, beating the shit out of them? As an example of someone who done something where the person seek to pay back a situation? The Diety who has such a span much have a much more open, how to put it in English? Acceptance of how their servants react or a much more open way of interpretation.

Hold on yo.

It plainly doesn't matter what anybody here thinks.

The alignment system is here to stay, it's how the world works, and no, D&D does not have a realistic moral compass because of this.

We have spells that work based on someone being good and evil. We have alignment gates. We have all kinds of shit. We have deities who only allow certain alignments to worship them. We have examples of good and evil all throughout D&D and FR lore.

It's non-negotiable. Saying you don't like it is like saying you don't like the d20 system. Doesn't matter, that's the game you're playing.

Moving on, no, knowingly killing someone who is not evil and has not done something that your character would have justification to kill them for, is not "good," doesn't matter what your opinion is, the DM's will notice this. If they're "friends" with someone that's evil, but they aren't part of Tarkuul, and haven't done anything evil, then a paladin slaughtering them in cold blood would almost certainly receive a fallen widget.

If you have any doubts then ask the DM team because this kind of topic is up to them, not up to the players, to decide.

We don't decide how morality works here, the setting does, and the DM's do.

Never did I say I decide what is yes or no, I said I personally do not enjoy it.

And when I said friends of hers, I mean obvious members of her troop. Not that Sunite. Get the difference?

Well, in the vein of walnutboy's concerns... I personally find it a bit weird when people play their own offspring. For me, personally, that's a much bigger problem than inheriting items.

I mean, it's two different people that know each other... Isn't that like... close to violating server rules? (I'm saying close, because it's not, apparently) It just seems weird to me.
On the other hand, gifting the items like that, it'd essentially just be the continuation of a legacy...

I have a different question though: Dragon wings on the human model... They're weird. I have a Red Dragon Disciple.
His wings are strange.
So, first off, which cloak models should work, because none currently work for me. Not a single model works and shows my wings, and sometimes, when I take off the claok, they're still gone. Is that normal? Is the normal wing model, that NWN tosses on me, correct?
Halp?

I really don't understand this... :(

Also, two more questions relating to RDD. Could a level 19 RDD still request a third (or fourth) draconic trait, and pay them with DCs? I remember it was frowned upon when a 9 RDD wanted to buy a second trait, but is it also not liked if one gets a third or fourth?

And, how much would legs cost then?

People have played their own off-spring a lot of times on Amia, still continue to. Most of the time people do it after the mother / father PC has died and they just play the successor. Though people have played both mother / daughter or father / son at the same time as well. And yeah, its probably toeing the line there and frowned upon by a lot of people in general, but when it comes down to it - if you aren't actually breaking rules or being an asshole about it, you don't generally get into trouble. And you shouldn't, if you're abiding by the rules regardless.

As for the cloak and your wings disappearing, that's probably an issue related to your ACP. Do you have one set other than the standard NWN option? You can change it and might have done so through the rest menu. Its like one of the first options. If you turn your ACP back to the standard one, the cloak will probably need to be taken off and put back on to see it again on the model. Wings can be glitchy sometimes when there's ACP / cloak issues. So usually you have to just relog, or try the equip/unequip method. If that still doesn't work, I would suggest asking the DM team to give you an alter self widget with your just your wing model attached to it so that if it glitches out again and you can't fix it, you can just put the wings back on yourself without having to wait for someone to help you.

I'm using normal base NWN ACP. I'll probably play around with it a bit more, got some hints I want to try out, such as relogging with a cloak model that shows wings. Maybe that will help. Thanks though!

No, there is only a very small selection for purchase in game, the rest needs to be requested. Also, the PLC sold in game are usually just 1 PLC, while via request, the PLC spawner can hold up to 10 arranged PLC (for 1 DC per PLC).

As for what you can request, it mostly needs to be something that makes sense you can either carry it around or conjure otherwise.

I see, I was thinking of requesting statues of dieties tied to events that happended where Budly promised to become a better "halfling" if he survived. Mostly to just use in the in game houses and not someting dragged around in a backpack.

I have a question regarding dragon lore, I've read about the clasics dragon types, metal and chromatic, but I've heard that there are other types... can anyone point me the other dragon types and/or in which source book I can read about them??
Thanks!

Definitely Draconomicon for the planar dragons (Chaos, Battle, Radiant, etc.). I think Monster Manual II has gem dragons. Dragons of Faerun is also a good one to look at for FR-specific lore on them.

Monsters of Faerun has Brown Dragons, Fang Dragons, Song Dragons, Shadow Dragons, Ghost Dragons, and Deep Dragons, I think. I can't remember how much detail it goes into. Some of those are in Draconomicon, too.

As a skill which would be more useful to take, spot or search?

Spot is typically far more useful - depending on how much you can invest or gear for.

Not as much as I'd like to given the narrow skill base and points I've presented myself with. At most I'll have 14 points free but a near enough maxed listen score... it's a character thing lol. To be fair i'm not sure how much to min-max simply because its written in to who the character is. :?

Well... they serve different purposes really. Search is for finding things, DM's will make you roll this a lot. It's also useful ingame for secret doors, traps, things like that.

Spot is for finding hiding people or literally seeing things. Also used a lot by DM's in events. Ingame you get to see those nasty SD's and rogues, and rangers.... provided you put enough into it and gear up.

If you only have a few points to spread around and neither would be maxed, makes little difference. If you have really low spot and no search, take search. A low search is more useful than a low spot.
