Ah, hokay, and love this topic by the way...oh and is it possible for a druid to cast a wish spell? (or anything along those lines?)

http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/Wish.htm
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/limitedwish.htm
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/miracle.htm

Wishes are for Wizards and Sorcerers and the Miracle is for Clerics, so aparently the answer is No and No.

An Archlich is an interesting concept, as they are a Lich but are not evil (in fact a Archlich is good aligned), and mearly choose undeath to continue research.

In regards to the offspring of a Drow and Elf. Genetics wise, would an offspring of a Drow and Elf pairing that came out looking like an elf still, have Drow blood to an extent, but visually not be cursed with the Drow attributes?

So say the elf may be slightly tanned because of the Drow blood, but still be an elf and not a drow visually. Is that viable?

Could one then assume that attributes of the elven apperance of the offspring may be attributes to that Drows family hertiage linking back before the curse of the Drow? So visually this child may have a brown hazelnut hair, which comes from the fathers (Drow) side, and being a visual attribute in there family since back before the Curse.

It's a point I bring up simply because I have noticed my character Xal has a last name that is generic and elven in origin. This could lead to some interesting family RP dating back to a branch in family all the way in the past before the curse. I am very very interested in possiably rping this, but need to know the specfics of family heritage back that far.

any subrace of elf if it breeds with another subrace of elf would be either the mothers subrace or the father's subrace. For instance if a sun elf breed with a drow, the child would be either a drow or a sun elf, same thing would occure if it was say between a sun elf and a moon elf.

Now I believe that it would have some traits of the other parent even if not being the subrace, for instance having not so dark skin if it was between surface elf subrace and a drow.

Yes I know the first part. I accept that. The second part is touching on what I am asking. What I really want to know is that if since Drow are cursed with Red Eye's and White hair, and the child is born with different coloured hair and eye's then the mother (elven), could one then assume that the colour of that childs eye's and hair are attributes from the Drow's family back before the Curse was placed upon them?

Say before the curse was placed on the drow race back in the distant past, the family may have had brown hair and green eyes. The mother of the child in the present has blonde hair and blue eyes. The father is drow, thus white hair and red eye's. The child is born however with green eye's and brown hair. Could one assume it is a link to attributes of the Drow's family's elven apperance before that particular elven race was Cursed and became Drow?

To recive genetic traits back before the curse, I do not believe so. If a drow mates with a surface elf and the child is a drow and not the surface elf's subrace, then It would take on the apprance of the drow's parent. The skin tone would probaly be lighter due to being a mixture of a surface elf and a drow, but still dark and black.

Quote:
Most drow have red eyes. Others have green, brown, or black. Various shades of gray, even amber and rose-hued eyes are not unknown. All drow eyes tend to grow redder when they are angry or upset. Yellow eyes usually denote illness, disease, poisoning, or the presence of certain detrimental magics. Blue and purple (and all the tints thereof) are the most unusual eye colors, and usually denote human or surface-elven blood somewhere in the drow's ancestry.

As that quote, from drow of the underdark, it shows that drow have diffrent shades of eye colors. It also shhows that it is possible for a drow to be born of a surface elf-drow union due to the fact that blue would come from the parent, even if said parent did not have blue eyes themselves it probaly would be a reccive gene.

Well, there you go. It explains it right there. He is in fact two different deities, both of whom are represented in some minor fashion on Amia. Null as a deity doesn't exist, it's a misnomer given by people who believe two different deities area third, single one.

Except that Null is a Greater Power in the FR Draconic Pantheon while Falazure and Chronepsis are Intermediate and Lesser Powers in Greyhawk. It doesn't say "It is commonly known that in the Outer Planes... ", it says "In the Outer Planes it is commonly known... ". There is a huge grammatical difference there. The last time I checked Amia was set in the Forgotten Realms, not Greyhawk, Planescape or Eberron.

The Reaver and The Guardian of the Lost are Lesser Avatars of Null in the Forgotten realms, not separate entities.

I have a question about human languages. I know that common is the main language of the realms. But I am wondering about the human languages of the realms. Do the major big kingdoms of the realms, Such as Amn, Calimashan, Thay,Comyr Etc. Do theyy have their own languages and if they do how much diffrent are they from Common?

White Dragons are the less cunning of the dragons. They usually act more on instinct, rather than planning anything beforehand. They are the more bestial, feral kind of the Chromatic Dragons. They love hunting.

Despite not being as smart as the other dragons (but don't confuse less smart with "stupid"), they have a good memory, especially if it is of something they witnessed. They can vividly remember those things and tend to never forget any slight or defeat, and are known to conduct malicious vendettas against those that have offended them.

White Dragons love mating, and do it for fun (they are prone to carnal pleasures, after all).

They like more frigid climes and they only eat frozen food, that would preferably be frozen after they released their breath.

These are the informations I resumed from Draconomicon, and which I used to play my White Dragon Disciple.

Anyone feel free to correct me if I made wrong interpretations.

I am currently interested in making a character, but I'm lost on the lore part - I don't own many PnP books. Can anyone help me with interesting classes, prestige classes, deities, and whatnot of the evil sort? I want something overtly dark.

Essentially, I'll put it to you this way: I want to have a character that, over the course of play, is twisted into something evil, then cursed - possibly made into an undead. Blackguard or Lich material, there.

Any creative ideas or little snippets of things you think would be unique or fantastic, please let me know. I'm very open at the moment.

Incorrect; you need to look at the wording. It is *because* is says what it does that you are wrong: In the Outer Planes, it is commonly known that Null, as a Deity, does not exist. He is actually 2 deities that other people commonly misconstrue to be aspects of a single, different, third deity. Chronepsis is his own god, as is Falazure. Both exist, and both are wholly separate from each other. Null does not actually exist, it's only BELIEVED he exists, much how people in the Anarouch believe Shaundakul to be an Aspect of Beshaba due to her framing of him that caused him to lose a lot of worshippers. Shaundakul is not actually an Aspect of Beshaba, people just think he is. Chronepsis and Falazure are not actually Aspects of Null, people just think they are.

Amia's in the Forgotten Realms, yeah, but Forgottem Realms settings are infamous for borrowing from other settings: We have an Eberron Warforged PC here. As well, the traditional "Planescape" Alignment planes that people know and love (Sigil, Beastlands, Arborea, MEchanus, etC) Actually don't exist in FR either: We get Deity-themed planes like the House of the Triad and Brightwater. Most people never know the difference and in fact like the Planescape planes better anyways so thhey get subbed in, so I've no doubt that even if it was true that Null exists, most people would prefer Chronepsis the Watcher and Falazure the Undying over Null.

Besides, it contradicts itself. Detah and Undeath are so opposed in FR that for a god to be Gods of both rightful death and wrongful Undead creation is silly, IMO. Better for it to be two separate deities. Forgotten Realms is all about hopping up portfolios and having hude pantheons as it is, so yohave precedent for it.

Regardless of FR, I'm pretty sure you will find the Amian answer to be: It's Falazure and Chronepsis, not Null.

Sorry if this question has been asked before, I looked about but there's so much lore and answers to sift through I may have overlooked it!

I've got something of a publishing-lore question:

There's a Mongoose Publishing book from the Encylopaedia Arcane collection called Familiars: Crouching Monkey, Hidden Toad. In this book, it details all sorts of in depth aspects about Familiars and binding/bonding with them, and one of the things that caught my interest was the mention of being able to bind/bond with pretty much anything (with varying difficulties based on factors such as creature type, HD, and so forth), including human(oid) critters and other people.

What my actual question is, since this is a MGP and not a Forgotten Realms book, could any of this be canon for Forgotten Realms and/or is there a book that details Familiars in depth like this that is Forgotten Realms canon that may have the answer else wise?

Thanks in advance!

I think that I can safely answer this one and have a decent chance of being correct: no and no.

That said, do I use Crouching Monkey, Hidden Toad? Yes. I will tell you from practical experience, though, that a DM has to keep monitoring the familiar use (or non-use) of PCs. There is a tendency for players to only trot them out when they want to take advantage of the bonuses they supply, and never mind the risks which having a familiar entails (such as having to role-play a relationship with what is, frankly, a pretty stupid companion). There is a strong temptation to bring out the familiar only when convenient, as does Vaarsuvius in Order of the Stick.

Another non-Realms book with useful familiars (such as the dog) is the White Wolf Player's Guide to Wizards and Sorcerers (or some such title). It is intended for the Scarred Lands campaign setting, but much of it is very useful in any setting.

Bona fide Realms familiars include the tressym, or winged cat, which is described in the (genuine) Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. The Monsters of Faerun supplement features a surprisingly large number of creatures which may be chosen as familiars (or "greater" familiars).

The expanded question behind this is if Amia would allow humanoid Familiars even though it isn't really mentioned specifically in Realms books, it also isn't spoken against either (as far as I know, and if it does on either account I'd love a book and page number to read up on it).

Then, the Amia-specific question breaks down further to if a PC would be permissed as a Familiar on an extremely weakened version (no tele/empathic connection, including possession and shared senses, no actual summoning, and other metagame red flag things.)

Okay. It states pretty spefically here that Animal Companions are used.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20050906a

Nwn famailers are screwy and aren't meant to be the type of creatures used by mages as famailers. The suggestion of humanoid companions doesn't seem to come up at all, possiably because it wouldn't be allowed. The animal is treated as a magical beast you see, anything short of an animal that can be converted to a magical animal doesn't seem possiable.

I believe this may be because originally the animal wasn't magical. Possiably.

The article reference Tome and Blood, specfically the part on Famailers. I suggest checking that out for more specific info.

However, there are spells which modify the famailer. A little something-something for all the necro's out there.

Yeah, somebody wanted something similar to this once, I.E., replacing their summoned planar critter with a PC played by another player. It was denied because of several reasons, not the least of which is that summons and familiars aren't completely free-willed creatures, and that for the familiar/summon PC to be played, the summoner would have to be on at all times the summon was. There's also the mechanics involved in it, which don't really mesh with NWN, unfortunately.

Yes, you really become undead.

It usually doesn't: Most druids don't take the shape.

The all sounds like some kind of reference to life in general. Least that's what it typically means in modern terms.

This is backed up by the fact that the fey are extremely nature bound creatures. So it's probably another term for nature in general, since they don't worship any gods.

Does anyone have any lore on the shadow plane? specifically, are there any beings "native" to the shadow plane in the sense that there are creatures "native" to the lower planes, or the elemental planes?

The only info ive found on it thus far is that shadow-dancers like to hang out there.. have a city, etc.. and that it occasionally overlaps with the material plane.

This have been bugging me for some time now.

What is the explanation, in Lore, for the glowing eyes and specific color depending on the alignment, of a monk?

EDIT: And at what level do they get it?

Thanks, P. But is there a better explanation to that? I needed something more detailed. >.<

I remember someone emoting, or telling me once, that it had to do with the Chi. The person even gave (IC) this nice, detailed explanation about it, but my stupid memory won't help me remember what it was. =(

I do not think the glowy eyes are mentioned in any lore or source.

The Palemaster, does he -actually- become undead at any point? (level 10, perhaps?)

If not, is this some kind of half-living half-undead state? does the PM become immortal in the sense that he doesnt die of old age?

No, he doesn't become undead.

He does however alter his physical composition so much that he is essentially half undead. His insides are mummified. That's why he's crit immune; mostof his organs are just shut down. He won't be hurt by positive energy though, and can't be Turned because he's not undead.

I'd allow "no death by old age" in there. Technically they're also immune to sbdual damage, which means you have to kill him, you can't render him unconcious, he shrugs it off.

With Rras's roleplay, he's been headed down the path of sorcery.

I was wondering if anyone had any hints on books, lore, or otherwise that they could assist me with sorcery and how to play it correctly. The effects it has on sorcerors, so on, and so forth.

Particularly anything surrounding their 'gnosis'. Or.. tapping their power would be especially useful.

I could give you a lot of non-canon insight, personal flavor and the like. I actually really like the sorcerer as a concept and rather hate it as a mechanical class; hence my wizardlove.

Also, for more indepth reading you might want to try the Sorcerer class book from 2nd Ed. In fact, 2nd Ed had a lot of pretty dense additional content like that, although I'm not sure how much of it conflicts with 3rd Ed. I forget what the book is actually called at this moment and am not on my computer to check, but maybe someone else will churn up the name. Alternatively, searching for a list of 2nd Ed books would probably turn up that and more.

Is there a specific handbook for sorcerors?

All I was able to find was PHB II

No, I'm saying, read the class entry for sorcerors in the PHB.

Shortly after 3e came out, there was a article in Dragon about adding flavor to your sorceror and how their power came about. Obviously Rras is a dragon blooded sorcerer, but there are also fey touched sorcerer, demon pact sorcerers, experiments gone awry sorcerers and a couple other "alternate origin" sorcerer types that I can't quite recall.

Really though I suggest reading Sakkran's character, Harrik Lugh's, lecture on being a sorceror. I for one thought it was cool.

Nah, the guy that gave you the deep RP reasoning was just making it up for RP's Sake. They are your eyes and you can explain them as you wish!

As I said, I couldn't remember what they were but I'm pretty sure there were six of them as they had a nice little colored boxes delineating the different origins. Sorry!

Request: Lore on Kara-Tur from sources other than Oriental Adventures. It's all pretty spotted and vague as far as I can tell, and I'm in the process of acquiring Oriental Adventures at the moment, but IIRC it doesn't really get too deep into things.

Specifically I'm looking for lore information about the Japanese-styled islands. Wa and ... I forget the other one.

There ain't much if i recall, I did some studying into Wa. All I could gather is it was under the rule of another state and alot of their people are trying to be 'bred out of existing', not too dissimilar to a certain asian brouhaha in the 40's in Manchuria.

About the Elven monk orders I was unable to find anything at all.

Looking at the general alignment span of the Elven deities it could point towards there is no pure Elven monk orders as it does not fit their nature very well.

Elven monks very likely just join some of the other monk orders corperating with other races. At least from what I have glanced through this seems to be the case.

On the Kara-Tur subject I managed to find this

http://www.spelljammer.org/worlds/Realm ... #h_KaraTur

Perhaps that can be of some use.

Otherwise there was this breakdown of source material on Kara-Tur

Judging from that Oriental Adventures seems to be the main source book. Perhaps you could try get your hands on Kara-Tur The Eastern Realms

Even though it is an old book it might have some valuble information that was left out in the other books.

Faerie information. Could anyone send me usefull links that I could use to know more of Faeries? I have read the Lore: The Races. But I wish to gain more knowledge of them if possible, anything that would be useful.
Thank you.

Else try ask some of the Fey players around, they can probably answer any specific question you might have.

As far as I know, when it comes to PnP rules a monk only needs to be part of an order if he wants to multiclass. Singe-class monks do not need a monk order.

http://www.candlekeep.com/library/articles/monks.htm

As for elven monk orders, I know of none. An elven monk would most likely join one of the nature god monk orders if he had to, like Silvanus or Mieliiki, maybe Mystra if he is more inclined towards magic.

An airgenasi/elf of the Akadi monk order comes to mind if you want something special :D
